rapidstag2 said:I posted this back in January. I was just browsing Craigslist for no particular reason and saw that the asking price for an RX580 8GB is— $1333? 😲
I get how the market is right now and how everything is in short supply, but are these people asking 300-400 bucks just being overly optimistic, or is an RX580 actually selling for that much?

I mean, if I could flip my money three times over in just three months, I’d probably sell it. It's basically just sitting there unused anyway since I haven't even launched a single game on it yet. The fans have only spun up because I manually turned them on just to blow some dust out of the card. 😁

If a miner comes along looking for one, go for it. List it for 400 and if it sells, great. Just make sure you have a backup plan, because finding any graphics card in this market is tough. Even the older generations have jumped in price because there's simply nothing available.

I mean, if there were actual money on the line here... if things weren't such a crazy mess right now... how much could I even get for this? Like, for around $120, could I actually score a better card?

What are miners actually going to do with 8 GB?

Sent from my iPhone

To be honest, I really don't know. I'm not really involved in that scene, but that's what I've seen mentioned all over the place.

wanderingbison9 said:Yeah, the listing said it was modified and the TDP is under 100W. It’s an 8GB card, and I really need that 8GB capacity. Now the ad is gone. 🤷

Good luck with that. Right now, those 8GB+ cards are basically useless since everyone is hunting them for mining—that’s why the prices are so inflated. You have to face it, the seller definitely made a killing at that price point. It sucks, but that's just how it is. If you could settle for a 4GB or 3GB version instead, wouldn't it be way easier to find a decent deal?
Overdrafts and negative balances: What's allowed? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, I’ve got five paychecks in the red at Chase right now—that’s over $5,000, not even counting my commuting costs. It’s not like I went out looking for this or asked for the overdraft; I just use what I need to get by. But I guess bad luck just decided to find me, didn't it?
You could also look at it from the other side—prices might actually climb because getting inventory through all this chaos with shipping companies and border delays is becoming a nightmare... It’s hard to be a fortune teller, especially in times like these.
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
If it’s running your games fine and handling everyday stuff in Windows without any issues, then just leave it alone. It’ll be okay. Benchmarks hit the hardware differently than actual gaming does, you know? But if you start seeing random restarts while you're mid-game... well, then you know you've got a serious problem on your hands.

I honestly have no idea what kind of TV you’d actually need to be able to ditch a Dedicated 2.1 system with a real subwoofer. I mean, really? Can a TV ever truly compete with that kind of setup? Especially not this old thing I've got. It’s a 2010 model I picked up used on Craigslist, and there's just no way. $133 😁 Wait, hold on—it won't just be for watching TV. It’s actually going to serve as a full-on media center for my laptop when it's hooked up to the TV. You know, for everything from music to movies.

Just because a product carries a famous brand name doesn't mean it’s automatically the best choice on the market. Does a logo actually guarantee quality? Not always. 🙂

It’s the exact same crowd that popped up in my Google search results. Just those pseudo-reviewers from overseas, acting like they know what they're talking about. Honestly, a decent TV setup can easily drown out some questionable Dedicated 2.1 PC speakers. I've listened to plenty of those cheap little things, and nothing really stood out to me except for my Logitech x530 setup. As for these tiny little subwoofers? They don't do anything at all. Total waste of space.

I really hope it serves you well, I truly do. But honestly? I’m still sticking with my tried-and-true Logitech setup over this thing!

By the way, you should check if your TV allows you to control the 3.5mm output via the remote. On my old Samsung, that was just the headphone jack, and honestly, you could only adjust the volume through the settings menu. Such a hassle, right?

Take it easy!🙂
Adam Moore3 said:The reviews are looking pretty solid all around. It’s a Dedicated 2.1 system that actually has Bluetooth 4.2 capability alongside the standard aux input—plus, there's even a dedicated media player built right in. Is the sound quality good? Yeah, it's solid too. Honestly, you get a lot for your money here. $63.
Can you find me something close to that price point? I'm not looking at the $189 mark anymore—what else is out there around my actual budget? $100 Fine, I'll just buy them for you myself! 🙂

I can't find a single actual, concrete review anywhere. It feels like everyone on YouTube just has a few thousand views and probably got these for free on the condition that they don't say anything bad. Does anyone have a link to something legit? For... $100 I'm here! What's up? Logitech 2.1 system. Which one would I definitely grab before this other one, even if it lacks Bluetooth? I mean, I don't know what you're expecting in terms of sound quality, but if you’ve got even a decent TV—how big is this thing you're planning to hook it up to, anyway?—you're probably not going to notice much of an upgrade with this setup.
Adam Moore3 said:I heard Walmart is struggling lately, so they’ve got tons of stuff at ridiculous prices. For instance, I picked up THIS beauty.
Now I just hope it actually arrives 😬

They cost the exact same amount on Amazon.

And honestly? Whether you actually made a good call here is anyone's guess...

silentcobra3 said:It’s actually interesting how frequently AMD has been dropping driver updates lately. Have you run into any issues with them? For me, the software side is huge—it has to work right. I’ve been using Nvidia recently and everything just runs flawlessly.
But yeah, I’d say this RX 5700 XT can pretty much hold its own against a standard RTX 2070.

Honestly, AMD has been putting out better drivers than Nvidia for years now. I don't even know where this whole "bad driver" reputation even comes from anymore.🤦

Look, that's a refurbished card. If you click the link, it clearly mentions the RMA and shows it only has a 3-month warranty. Honestly? You'd be much better off checking Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to find one for less cash that actually has more memory.🤔
Best 17" multimedia laptops under $600? in Laptops ·
Hey there,
I'm looking for some advice on a new laptop. I definitely need a 17" screen—that's a non-negotiable for me—and it needs an SSD, with a budget of up to $1333. High-end graphics aren't really my priority; I mainly just want something great for multimedia and playing casual games.

Thanks a bunch!
🙂

I’m in a bit of a spot right now. I just don't have the cash to drop on the latest, top-of-the-line gear. Honestly, what's the move? For me, the cheapest cooling option out there is the FaZe Clan setup. $97Wait, doesn't that work for the 775 socket too?

Wait, what?! Are you kidding me?
No money for an upgrade? So what are you supposed to do? Just sit there and stare at a screen for ten years? It’s frustrating, isn't it? $100 Looking for better cooling? Seriously, just grab any FaZe Clan cooler you can find. $50 I mean, you're basically Zlatan. For example: Hey. Or? Hey. Or? Wait, what? I don't understand. What was that? Is there more you wanted to say? Hey. Is it seriously any better? Honestly, I’m not seeing it. $6.75 It’s more expensive. Seriously, why would you waste your hard-earned money on a piece of junk?

Does it even matter if it came from a mining rig as long as there's still a warranty? I picked up a 1060 myself that had been running 24/7 in a mining setup, but it still had a year and a half of coverage left. Honestly, who cares what it was doing if everything works perfectly fine?

And besides, if they won't let me test it first, what's the point? I wouldn't touch it either—unless I'm buying from a trusted forum where I can actually verify things...

I'm not sure... can I actually get a 60Hz refresh rate through the HDMI port?
Zachary Nguyen2 said:Wait, isn't it the same thing for the local retail stores?

From what I can gather, you can actually check which specific store has certain items in stock. You just search for the item on the standard American online shop, and if it shows up there, it should be available for purchase. As for that Ryzen chip, I think I saw someone mention on Newegg that they have three units left at that price.
New laptop acting weird in IT Support ·
Brian Green said:Hey everyone,

About a month ago, my girlfriend picked up this Dell over at Best Buy.
It came pre-loaded with MS-DOS, so I took care of installing Windows 10—the same version I run on several other laptops without any hiccups. However, after a little while, things started getting weird. At completely random intervals (we're talking 3 or 4 times per charge), a warning would pop up right in the middle of the screen saying the battery was at 6%, only for everything to return to normal two or three seconds later. This doesn't happen when the laptop is plugged into the charger. On top of that, the display occasionally glitches out while using browsers; I can't quite put my finger on it, but there’s this heavy distortion where black and white colors stretch out diagonally across the screen.

Assuming it was just a missing driver issue, I went to the official Dell support site and pulled down their driver scanner tool. The very first thing it suggested was a BIOS update. Being optimistic, I figured a stale BIOS might actually be the culprit, so I went ahead and flashed it. Immediately after, the machine refused to boot in UEFI mode (though I can't be certain if it was set to Legacy before I installed Windows). It felt like it was stuck in a loop: I'd enter the boot menu, select the option to boot from the ATA drive, and the screen would just go black for a second before kicking me right back to the same menu. It didn't seem limited to the hard drive either, because the same thing happened when I tried booting from a USB drive. Once I switched the settings back to Legacy mode, I'd see the standard white logo on a black background, which looks like this logo

The battery issue persists, and now I'm left scratching my head over why it won't boot in UEFI mode. I eventually wiped it and installed Windows 8.1; while it behaves slightly better, that annoying battery glitch is still popping up.

Since these glitches are sporadic and brief, I don't feel like I have enough "hard evidence" to justify a warranty claim or sending it off for service. That said, the boot issues have seriously shaken my confidence in this machine. To make matters worse, after running a Windows update on Windows 8.1—which had been working perfectly fine until today—the desktop icons vanished. When I navigated to this PC, I got an error stating the desktop folder couldn't be found in the system32/config/ directory.

I'd really appreciate some insight here. For a brand-new laptop, the behavior is highly suspicious, and I'm starting to suspect there might be underlying hardware flaws.

Regarding that logo? That's just Lenovo's new branding. People are absolutely tearing them apart on Facebook, saying it looks cheap and tacky. Honestly, I agree. Ever since the last BIOS update, my y700 shows that same logo during bootup.

All my other issues make me think the battery is faulty. But look, since it’s a brand-new laptop, you’re better off just sending it in for service so they can run full diagnostics. Just make sure you're super specific about what's going wrong when you drop it off at the repair center...
I ended up passing on the Acer. They seem to have some serious overheating issues, and I just don't know if it's worth the hassle $433 paying extra plus whatever else they want for an extended warranty.

In the end, I’m going with the Lenovo Y700. It looks like a beast—everyone in the reviews is raving about it, and apparently, the cooling system is top-notch. I really wish it came in a 17", but honestly, I can make do with a 15" like I always have. $100 The extra cost isn't bad, and I can grab an extended warranty for just a few hundred bucks...

My plan is to sell my current 500GB SSD and just pick up an M.2 later on. That should work perfectly. Who actually needs a disc drive anyway? 😛
