Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
I find it hard to believe there will be any significant or even noticeable drop in turnout due to the virus.
The party—after all—seems to consider itself more important than the state, common sense, or the actual welfare of the citizens.
If only it were possible to compare the list of people stuck in isolation with those who actually showed up to vote...

Henry Edwards33 said:I just got off the phone with the IRS headquarters regarding my access to the online tax portal. Apparently, there’s a massive glitch involving digital certificates that were renewed after December 7, 2015.
They honestly have no clue how or when they'll actually get this sorted out.

At this point, I’m completely lost on what I’m supposed to do about all these mandatory filings. 🤷

Don't worry—you'll be able to file those forms retroactively.
A new notice was just posted on the Harvard University website.

Important Notice to Users Regarding Partial Unavailability of the Online Tax Return Service
Due to technical difficulties, the online tax return service is currently unavailable for users with the new RDC profile certificates—specifically those with certificates issued or renewed after December 7th, 2015. Any users unable to submit their tax returns and required forms within the legal deadline due to these technical failures will be permitted to file them once the issues are resolved, without facing any penalties for late filing. Additionally, payroll departments that are unable to electronically submit their Joplin forms due to these glitches may proceed with payroll processing and subsequently submit the Joplin forms; such submissions will be officially recognized as having been filed on time.

It really isn't working...
I don't recall things being this early last year—wasn't it usually later? Typically, the system goes offline after New Year's due to the annual balance reconciliations.

Medicare has finally rolled out the latest updates to the My Health Record app:

"Medicare is now allowing business users to handle online enrollments, disenrollments, and updates for family members."

I tried to file my paperwork today and got hit with a notification saying my certificate had already expired. I didn't get a single heads-up—no email, no nothing. Just totally blindsided.

Yes, I did receive an email alert about a month before the expiration date.

George Foster7 said:Fine, excellent... My paycheck for this month should process without any hitches, assuming my 401(k) contribution is zero since everything went straight into the first one last time...

If you have decided to process the rollover through the Social Security Administration, you should absolutely notify your HR representative about it—just to ensure they don't accidentally overlook the submitted request.

Once you select "add," take a look at the menu on the left-hand side. It is essentially a three-step process—first, you'll need to "verify," then move on to "sign," and finally, "submit."

If you’re currently attempting to upload your JOPPD files, this might explain the issue:

One of my digital certificates works fine, but the other one is acting totally glitchy. Every time I try to submit, I get that annoying application error pop-up 😁. It’s been doing this ever since they updated everything with the new tax refund info. Everything else, like my bank app and stuff, is working perfectly. I've already tried switching through different browsers, but it’s the same headache every single time.

I ran into the exact same thing—that warning icon popped up—while I was attempting a VAT registration.
I haven't reached out to the IRS yet, but I suspect I'll have to give them a call this coming Monday.

Brenda Chase3 said:Is anyone else running into issues while trying to upload the JOPPD form? Every time I attempt to submit the file, I just get stuck staring at a "loading submission component" icon that spins indefinitely. It won't even trigger the file explorer window so I can actually select the document. I'm currently using Internet Explorer.

I encountered those exact same issues while using Internet Explorer as well—but as of right now, everything seems to be functioning correctly again.

Nutella—is there any other substance that can truly command such universal devotion? It is a phenomenon, really—that velvety, hazelnut-infused indulgence that seems to find its way into nearly every pantry across America. One has to wonder, what is it about that specific combination of cocoa and sugar that triggers such an immediate, almost visceral craving? It is more than just a spread; it is a staple of the American breakfast ritual. As specified by Robert Sanchez6:
Tuesday is my deadline for submitting the paperwork—and frankly, I am at a complete loss as to how I am going to pull this off.🤔

The IRS just posted this update on their website earlier this morning:

Notice to users of the IRS online portal.
We would like to inform all users of the IRS digital portal that a new version of the application has been released—one that now fully supports operation via the Google Chrome web browser. To ensure you can utilize Google Chrome seamlessly while navigating the IRS platform, you will need to install a specific Google Chrome extension from the Web Store, along with its required software support package. Please be advised that installing this software support requires administrative privileges on your computer. If you do not have administrator rights—which is often the case in corporate environments—installation will be restricted, and you must contact your internal IT help desk to proceed. For those seeking further clarity, detailed instructions can be found in the "Google Chrome Installation Guide."

cosmictinker24 said:Has anyone actually dug into that new Bureau of Labor Statistics report regarding adult unpaid bills?
It looks like they’ve pushed everything back to 2016, and apparently, the first batch won't even be released until February 20th, 2016.
I'm just trying to figure out what timeframe this first form is actually going to cover... I mean, does it start with bills from December 31st, 2015, and go from there, or what?

No.
Everything you need should be laid out clearly right here:

What about the director of a standard corporation?

It applies to them as well.

Sandra Wells5 said:Honestly, I'm pretty confused by this whole thing. Over the last few days, I handled several enrollments and terminations, and everything came through my email perfectly fine—I even got an enrollment notification for a dependent today🤔. Does that mean we don't have to register dependents anymore? I'm guessing this only applies to existing dependents, not newborns.

Also, I managed to log into the new app, but the print layout is a total mess; when I try to print a form, it stretches across three different pages. I tried looking for a print preview, but I can't find anything else. Honestly, since they're still emailing me, I'll just stick to printing the attachments from my inbox and handing them to the employees that way.

I assume they still need to polish the interface. On my end, it prints on two pages, yet the layout looks slightly different from the versions sent by email. For instance, I can't even see their official seal or electronic signature.

Brenda Chase3 said:I managed to get through on Internet Explorer two days ago, but today it's being completely stubborn, so I ended up trying via Chrome instead... honestly, it’s been a struggle involving way too many clicks and it definitely isn't running smoothly. At this point, I can't tell if the issue lies with their server being hit-or-miss or if it's something else entirely...
Earlier this week, I sent an inquiry to support@medicare.gov because I couldn't get the settings to work. I sent over several screenshots so they could verify if I had configured everything correctly. As it turns out, the mistake was mine; under the Java security settings, I had typed "http" instead of "https," which caused the whole thing to fail. Once I corrected that, it started working, but I still get those constant security warnings before I can enter. Sometimes I get in, and sometimes it takes a few tries, so...

I have finally resolved it; I accessed the application via Internet Explorer. Everything is working perfectly now.

Brenda Chase3 said:I finally managed to get through, though it was an absolute struggle. I have Java version 8 update 45 installed and followed their online instructions to the letter—clicking everything they told me to—and I eventually got in. However, the site keeps flagging a security warning, telling me the page isn't secure. I basically have to bypass the warnings and proceed at my own risk every single time just to get moving, but I keep clicking through the alerts and somehow make it work.

Which browser are you using? I am on Safari, running Java 8u45, but I simply cannot get the security settings to cooperate—specifically regarding adding this site to my trusted list. That is where I am stuck, despite following the manual. Regardless, I will sort it out once I have more free time. My main priority right now was simply verifying if the website was even operational. Thank you. 🙂

Medicare will no longer be sending processed forms directly to our email addresses.
They have rolled out a new online portal for employers—a way to monitor enrollments, terminations, and various status changes digitally.

Has anyone actually managed to navigate through to that data yet? Has anyone successfully logged into the application? I am running into some technical hurdles—specifically some Java issues—and quite frankly, nobody seems to be responding to my inquiries.

cosmictinker24 said:Hey everyone.

So, how is this whole new hourly tracking system actually going to look on our pay stubs? I assume they’re going to want all those mandatory breaks factored in too, but there aren't even any categories for them right now... I guess we'll see. Maybe in Joppd, you're supposed to just log those breaks under unworked hours or something?

Are you referring to daily or weekly rest periods? Those wouldn't be included in the payroll or the software—they are separate. Only vacation time would be listed, just as it has been previously.

casualjackal14 said:Hey everyone—does anyone happen to know if there's actually a way to file an amended sales tax return for last year? I totally messed up when I was entering the filing period—instead of marking it as October 1st through December 31st, I accidentally typed in December 1st through December 31st. Oops!

So, I went down to the local IRS office to get some clarity, and they just told me to go online and submit a corrected form through the e-file system. But here’s the kicker: whenever I try to actually send the return, the option is greyed out! It keeps throwing this error message at me saying the period can only start from January 1st, 2015.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of glitch, or maybe knows a workaround to get this sorted out?

I suspect you might be selecting the wrong form—specifically, the one that took effect on 01/01/2015.
You likely need to complete the older version of the form (the one used prior to 12/31/2014).
