Biased modes in the "Economy" PDF in Feedback & Suggestions ·
velvetmaker3 said:This is a rare pile of pure bullshit, but honestly, it fits the pattern we've seen on this topic.
It’s all because we’re calling out garbage arguments, and claiming > is some kind of demographic metric? That is straight-up shit of the year. No one is going to play nice with you while you're frantically flooding the thread with nonsense. Now suddenly we're "entrepreneur lobbyists" and whatever other nonsense—I guess we're just part of some massive billionaire conspiracy now.🤦

If there’s anyone trolling here with turbo-fanatic energy, it’s definitely you. Talking to you is basically impossible. You don't see, you don't hear, and you clearly don't want to. It's just total
and absolute fanatic blindness. Honestly, people have been way too patient with you given how you act over there.

And yeah, I got a warning too, which was totally deserved after one of your many provocations. It’s hard not to snap when someone is constantly insulting my intelligence and everyone else's in the debate.

It is actually unbelievable how rude you are.

You kept accusing us of saying things we never even said. We warned you a hundred times that those weren't our words and asked you to prove it by actually quoting us, but you couldn't. Not only did you fail to quote anything (because it didn't exist), but you just stubbornly and rudely kept insisting we made those claims without a shred of evidence.

If that isn't shameless trolling, then I don't know what is.

If the mods on that PDF were actually worth anything, you'd be banned for at least a month for trolling like this.

What do you mean "you guys"? I was reading this thread and posting here way before you even signed up for this forum, and I've always been lumped in with the doom-and-gloomers regarding real estate prices... But whatever, I just can't ignore posts that have zero logic or common sense.

What persecution mania?

Oh, I get it. So anyone who dares to push back against your moderation is just suffering from some kind of paranoia.🙄

What do you mean "you guys?" By "you guys," I'm talking about the moderators over at "CNN." Since it says there are six of you, I'm assuming you moderate together. But hey, if that's not how it works and you're just solo-modding this specific PDF—aka this thread—then feel free to rename it "The Biased biased mode in the CNN PDF."

Our posts (not just the ones from silentridge3 and me, but plenty of other users on this thread who mostly agreed with us) actually made sense. Or, I guess, they at least had more logic in them than the crap posted by velvetmaker3, Frank Knight, Comcast, and those types.

But fine, why bother arguing with a "moderator" who completely missed the fact that those three were trolling—which was obvious from a mile away?

Yet, somehow, you managed to spot and punish the frustration caused by that trolling instantly.

Gerald Chavez7 said:You're dead wrong.

The posts are still there, everything is crystal clear, and you can easily see how this whole debate has played out over the last few weeks. For instance, you only got one single warning, and that was just for calling out the mods.

silentridge3 just doesn't know how to make a point without getting all worked up and snapping at people, so he ended up getting two or three warnings, which led to a light one-day ban...

I mean, obviously, I didn't expect you to admit to being in a biased mode.

As far as I'm concerned—yeah, it's true, I was commenting on, well, criticizing the moderation. I just couldn't sit there anymore watching you guys play favorites and unfairly punish the other side (like banning silentridge3).

And yeah, maybe silentridge3 lost his cool a little at the end, but honestly, that’s not even surprising considering how you guys shamelessly tolerated velvetmaker3 and Frank Knight trolling until they were blue in the face.

Anyway, silentridge3 is gone from the thread now, which is obvious to everyone and clearly what you were aiming for.

Just look at how the "real estate prices" thread is being handled over on the "Economy" PDF. The mods have basically gone full biased mode to protect one specific side of the debate.

And honestly? It’s not even because that side has better points. It feels like they're doing it for some other reason that only the mods understand.

It ended up getting to the point where the people actually making sense got slapped with bans and warnings, while the other side—the ones just trolling without any actual substance—got off totally scot-free.

Basically, it's a textbook example of biased and unfair moderation. They've pretty much chased away anyone who doesn't suck up to their favorites.

And what exactly was rude? Was it the joke about prayer or the forum rules? Should we go ask the mods for an opinion, or are we just gonna let the little flower-and-butterfly crowd chirp away about their feelings and subjective vibes? Honestly, I don't feel like fighting about this... look, feel free to report the thread to a mod. Be my guest, let's see their official ruling on why I'm being "rude"—because right now, you're just talking nonsense and I have no clue what you think you're seeing. It's the exact same thing as Satir and Kusch.

So, let's take another look at my posts you keep bringing up. What part of this is actually "rude" or "disrespectful" to you? 🤔 What are we even talking about here?

You're an idiot, and I'm done wasting my breath on you.
So yeah, go ahead and report me to the mods.
neonmarlin39 said:What are you even talking about?? Seriously, what is your deal? And honestly, with your little outbursts—or those weird rants from that Saturday Night Live guy up there where his post makes zero sense and he’s just trying to act smart while totally misinterpreting everything he quotes, which ends up looking ridiculous (since I clearly pointed out that suicide and sacrificing your life for a noble cause aren't the same thing, so I don't know what he's seeing or what he's on to be hallucinating like that)—or when someone quotes you for the first time asking "Do you know how big the universe is?" and you immediately start begging them not to mess with you, calling them rude and threatening to take the conversation elsewhere... like, what kind of reaction are you actually expecting here? A round of applause? A standing ovation? What exactly?

And how would we talk "differently"? Like, do you even get my answer to your request? Is everything clear and following the rules? You could have just ignored me if you didn't like it and that's that...
If you think something is rude or breaks the site rules, just hit the report button, it's that simple. Then you can see if the mods agree with you. You can't really demand that people stop quoting your posts just because you feel like it, especially when you call them rude for explaining basic forum etiquette. Honestly, it makes no sense to expect people on a public American forum not to quote you in a thread. If you don't want that, then just don't post, problem solved... it should be obvious, and we wouldn't even need to be having this whole conversation.

Elvis Presley 🤣 Okay... you didn't get what I was getting at at all when I asked if you knew how big the universe was. Whatever, doesn't matter anymore.

What exactly am I "not getting"? Seriously, look at how this conversation actually went down.

Everyone getting all worked up over this topic... 🤣

Yeah, I saw how the conversation went.
And seeing how it went is exactly why I felt the need to chime in.
Basically, you were being rude, and there was zero reason for it.
Now you’re doubling down with that same tone, which is also totally unnecessary.

Btw, I'm not even that sensitive.

Michael Morgan5 said:Home Depot is basically just a chain of gold buyback stations at this point. Honestly, I don't get the appeal—why would anyone bother buying or selling investment-grade gold through them?

They’ve got this special edition featuring Franz Joseph aimed at the little collectors, but even then, they seem to be charging more than Goldman Sachs if my math is right.
If you actually decide to pull the trigger and buy from them, just a heads-up: their buyback rates for coins purchased elsewhere are totally different, so make sure you hang onto that 'certificate' they hand you.
I put 'certificate' in quotes because, let's be real, the coins themselves don't actually have serial numbers.

Not trying to act like a know-it-all here... but I just went to measure that old 5-cent nickel we used to have. It's about 18 millimeters across.

Meanwhile, that New York Philharmonic coin weighing 3-ish grams, which costs roughly $333, is only 16 millimeters wide.

Look, I'm definitely no expert when it comes to gold investing... But paying around $333 for a coin that's literally smaller than a nickel?! Isn't gold a little overrated?

Joseph Ward2 said:Here’s the rundown on all the gold coins: https://www.bankazlata.com/kategorij...-franjo-josip/

The spread on those coins really shouldn't be pushing past 3%. Did you actually give them a ring and have them quote you a specific percentage?

I picked up a few from them myself once, though I've never been one to turn around and sell 'em back.

But if you look at their site, they list both the buy and sell prices. And honestly, the gap is way bigger than 3%.

Michael Morgan5 said:They’re usually referred to as Franz Joseph coins or single ducats. They weigh in at about 3.49 grams, though they aren't quite as pure as the New York Philharmonic ones (986/999).

Over at http://smh.net/, the difference is 4.40 EUR.
And over at https://www.goldundco.at/en/precious-metal-prices.html, it's 6.95 EUR, though you have to account for the fact that the spread on the New York Philharmonic pieces is tighter compared to the ounce.

I swung by Home Depot today because I wanted to see those 3.5g coins in person. I checked out that American Eagle Outfitters one or whatever it's called, also 3.5g.

Man, I was floored. First off, it's tiny—like, seriously small, like a damn nickel!!!
And second, the price tag was $367!!!

Taylor Robinson51 said:One-kilogram bars aren't exactly practical unless you happen to be a millionaire. If someone needs to liquidate a bit of gold for a few thousand dollars, they aren't going to be out there hacking a massive bar into fifty-gram chunks.

For smaller purchases, my recommendation would be single gold coins. The current spread on them is slightly north of 3%, and they go for under $130 apiece. They are highly sought after both domestically and abroad, making them incredibly fast and easy to liquidate.

What are those coins actually called? And how many grams are we talking about?

By the way, the gap between the buy and sell price—the spread—at that "Goldman Sachs" place being mentioned is way, way higher than 3%.

The average salary in IBM is $2733. Something like that.

Let's just say experienced people—if they actually know their stuff and put in the work—regularly pull in 10 $0.00. That's been the reality for the last 20 years.

And if someone happens to climb the ladder and becomes a manager of anything at all, they make significantly more.

You IBM folks and this whole "IBM" obsession are seriously driving everyone, even God, absolutely insane.☕

Kimberly Ramos5 said:I went to an economics high school, then finished college two years ago. Honestly, I just dragged myself through it to get the piece of paper, though I did pick up an accounting course on the side to supplement my resume. I wanted to actually specialize and master a field instead of bouncing from business school to law, then to philosophy, and eventually retraining as a chef. So, everything followed its own "natural progression," and I was naive enough to think there would be actual jobs waiting for me. Fine, go ahead—call me an idiot.

Hmm. Honestly, out in the Midwest, that economics degree is basically useless. You're pretty much stuck.

Maybe you could dig something up in Washington, D.C., at least something better than those dead-end minimum wage gigs.

But living in D.C. is insanely expensive if you don't already own a place there. Like, after you pay rent, you'll probably have nothing left to live on.

Why not look abroad? Career-wise, you really don't have anything to lose. Sure, you're tied down to that Midwest town, but being loyal to a place isn't gonna do you much good if you're unemployed.

I work at the airport now, but before that, I couldn't find anything. Period. I'm 33 years old and only landed this airport gig last year. So, do the math. 😁
And yeah, the paychecks are always on time. Reliable as a Swiss watch.

You didn't even mention if that airport is here in the States or out abroad.😉

He’s dead serious. I mean, it’s pretty obvious—people leave the Midwest out of pure spite to head over to Germany or Ireland.

Life in America is just way too easy for them, and since they're apparently desperate for some kind of adventure or struggle, they had to go find it somewhere else.😁
