I mean, I can barely make a decision to save my life; if I try to decide something, the government steps in and shuts me down, so I try again, then the weather ruins my plans, so I try once more, and then the bank gets involved, or I take a shortcut only to run straight into a wall... and then people have the nerve to tell me it's just karma. Phew!
I was watching CNN earlier today and they were discussing the refugee breakdown:
They mentioned it’s roughly 51% Syrian, 15% Iraqi, and so on... I didn't catch the rest of the segment (though I think someone else here already posted those specific numbers on the forum).
Honestly, it makes me wonder how these census takers and data collectors actually pull all this information together.
Picture this: a group arrives at some camp in the middle of the night, and the workers there start asking away:
"What's your name? Where are you from? When were you born? What do you do for a living?"
And then they get an answer like: "Muhammad, Syria, January 1st, 1998, first-year medical student."
So, the official record-keeper just neatly writes it all down.
And suddenly, we have these official reports and statistical breakdowns claiming that 51% are Syrian.🤦
That percentage apparently includes the 24% who are children—which seems a bit optimistic when most of these bearded 17-year-olds look ready to join the infantry.
I don't know, I just can't quite wrap my head around these figures; maybe I'm just being overly skeptical, but I tend to take everything I hear with a grain of salt.
I mean, just look at those small rubber dinghies arriving at the coast in Greece. You can fit maybe 20 people in one of them.
How many would need to land on those Greek islands every single day just to reach that massive figure of 10,000 people hitting us daily? We're talking about 400 or 500 boats every day. That's not just a migration; it's a full-blown armada, as if Barbarossa himself had set sail!🤔

I seem to recall someone mentioning at the start of this whole crisis that they knew a guy who was basically rubbing his hands together because he was moving so much produce, specifically apples. I can't for the life of me remember which user it was who brought that up.

My browser keeps crashing whenever I try to use this forum on Missouri; I can't even keep the page open for more than a second before it shuts down on me entirely. I'm typing this up using Chrome because, honestly, I’ve been a loyal Missouri user for ages and never had a single issue until now.
Even over on Chrome, everything feels incredibly sluggish, and it won't even let me submit my posts half the time—it just throws an error at me constantly. The only thing that's actually changed on my computer lately was installing an Avast extension, though I know I've had it for a while already.
