More importantly, I have no idea how many people are primarily attracted to trans individuals, but I’m fairly certain we’re talking about a tiny fraction of the population. If I recall correctly, research suggests that attraction toward them mostly comes from the heterosexual demographic rather than the gay community. Basically, a homophobe is going to label a trans woman as some kind of freak or a societal epidemic threatening to ruin kids' sexuality. Meanwhile, a gay man is just going to stick to his own gender and won't lose much sleep over a man with breasts or a woman with a penis. But for straight men, a trans woman is often just as attractive
as any other woman, and despite all the social stigma, some straight guys clearly don't find them off-putting at all.

Passion? No. Laws? Definitely.

I mean, you could kill someone on impulse or out of pure desire, but when we look at murder as a social issue or try to regulate it through the legal system, we don't just shrug and say "it was passion." That's not how it works.

It’s the same thing with these unnatural trends that mess with our youth and the fabric of society. Just because people decide they aren't mental health issues anymore—even if I think they should be—doesn't mean we can just excuse everything as "passion" and stop thinking about it.

It’s basically a textbook example of how universities play politics pragmatically.

Since there isn't some outside authority to hold their feet to the fire, they have zero incentive to admit they majorly screwed up. They don't want to tank their own reputation in a case that could go public, but I guess they can't be quite intellectually dishonest enough to just ignore blatant plagiarism either.

So, they settle on these kinds of half-baked, political band-aid solutions.
