I know I promised to drop some photos a while back, so I finally sat down and dug through my files to find a few decent ones for you guys 😵
Height 5'9", age 23-25, and weight used to swing anywhere from about 138 up to 175+ lbs

I don't really feel like getting all deep and philosophical about it, so here goes nothing.
Left side is how I looked last spring --- Right side is how I looked late last fall
Didn't do any real training aside from hitting the gym for the last three weeks; mostly just focused on what I was eating. There's about a 35 lb difference between these shots.

I figured you’d get a better sense of my actual frame if I showed you how I look in clothes or from a distance.

Summer 2014 I had some muscle, but honestly, it was mostly just a massive dirty bulk. That was my vibe for a long time.
New Year's 2016 Right at the end of my cut, probably the leanest I've ever been, right before I started hitting the weights harder and bumping up my calories again.

And just to give you the full picture, here are a few shots I took just now.

And I don't want anyone thinking I'm being weirdly secretive about my legs, so here's one that's a bit embarrassing. My legs are definitely my weakest point and where I lack the most strength, but I've started focusing on them—it just takes time, you know?

Anyway, that's the gist of it. This is really just the starting line for me when it comes to building serious strength and mass, but my first priority was just burning off the junk I put on from eating poorly, regardless of my gym sessions. To be honest though, I'm not thrilled with my body fat percentage, but there's no point in cutting even lower while looking like this XD
Also, sorry about the photo quality; this crappy old digital camera needs like a stadium floodlight just to catch anything halfway decent🙂

Alright, fine, forget about my take for a second. I guess I'll just ask more broadly—why isn't there a policy to clear out inactive users? Like, whose call is it to run this forum, and who's actually pulling the strings here? Looking at the member list, it feels like at least 80% of the people haven't logged in forever. You've got old handles sitting there from like ten years ago. I honestly don't see the point in keeping them around...🤔

Last time he popped up was May 2010, which means he's been MIA for almost six years now... Does it really need to be another six years before everyone realizes this guy isn't interested in the forum, at least not under that handle?

Come up with something involving Sylar B.

Man joined back in late 2009, has literally one single post, and hasn't done a thing for six years... and now you're trying to tell me his account isn't basically a ghost town?🤔

I’m honestly thinking about switching my handle from sylar951 over to Sylar... there's just some inactive dude sitting on it who hasn't posted since 2009, 🙂
I feel like I totally deserve that nickname though!!!

I honestly don't know what people are thinking lately—it’s like they forget you actually need to hit those partnership requirements and build up a decent subscriber count before you even see a dime from Google AdSense, but man, this is easily one of the most half-baked ideas I've seen in a while... ☕

man, I'd love to get you wasted, if you know what I mean 😠
every single Cola is basically a chemistry experiment, but at least Zero doesn't have all that sugar... it's a fact...
you aren't gonna be drinking that stuff every single day, but hey, once in a while is fine... though honestly, never is probably best☕

Honestly, if you're really going to insist on drinking Cola, you might as well just stick to the Zero version, it's way better 🙂

I don't want to just lurk and watch everyone else talk, so I figured I’d jump in and give you guys an update on where I'm at right now... Honestly, things aren't perfect—I've still got a massive mountain to climb—but I finally hit my goal of putting on some muscle mass, even if I also picked up some extra fat and a bit of a gut along the way. Here’s the breakdown of how things are looking:
5'8"/exactly 172lbs

I'll probably need to start a cutting phase pretty soon, otherwise I'm gonna start getting those annoying questions like, "How can you lift all that weight and still not have any abs?" 😂

Also, I dug up this old photo from back before I ever stepped foot in a gym (pretty sure I was hovering around maybe 143lbs back then) http://oi61.tinypic.com/2lapto8.jpg
Do you guys actually do this...? in Miscellaneous ·
I honestly can't help myself, I always end up licking everything clean 😛

Hey everyone... I know I’ve been MIA for a bit, so I figured I’d pop in and give you guys an update on how things are going... Basically, I was posting here about six months ago complaining that I just couldn't put on any weight no matter how much time I spent at the gym or how much whey protein I chugged. I ended up taking a five-month break over the summer, but now that I'm back in NYC, I've jumped right back into my training routine...
I'm about 5'8" and back on October 1st, I was only weighing in at 141 lbs... but now, thanks to eating like it's my job and hitting the weights, I'm up to 158 lbs and the scale keeps climbing every single day... I didn't actually hit the gym again immediately on Oct 1st, but I started a new eating regimen a couple of weeks later—basically just EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT... honestly, I didn't think it was even possible to pack on 18 lbs this fast since I've been stuck around 143 lbs for years... (I know it sounds wild because, for example, my girlfriend can eat one slice of cake and instantly gain a pound, whereas I have to eat six full meals a day plus snacks like chocolate and chips just to see the needle move)
Anyway, I'm officially in bulking mode and aiming for 176 lbs, so I'm not even thinking about my abs right now 😛 Once I hit that 176 mark, maybe then I'll look into cutting down.

this is just relaxed

I was feeling kind of bored so I tried to snap a quick progress pic, but man, it turned out all blurry... anyway, I officially hit the gym about a month ago, though honestly, that first month was basically just me getting my bearings, learning how the machines work, and letting my body adjust to the new movement patterns. I’m starting to see a little bit of definition popping up in my biceps, triceps, and chest, but I'll be real with you—lifting heavy weights is still a massive struggle for me. My whey protein and dextrose finally showed up a few days ago, so I've started mixing those in right after my sessions. It's a bit frustrating because I've always had this crazy fast metabolism, and even before I started lifting, I struggled to pack on any weight; no matter what I eat, I just can't seem to get past 147 pounds.
Here’s the breakdown of what I’ve been hitting:
Chest:
pec deck 65, 75, 90, 100lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
bench press 65lbs | 6 sets of 12 reps
dumbbell fly 25lbs | 5 sets of 12 reps
dumbbell pullover 35lbs | 5 sets of 12 reps
Back and Shoulders:
Lat pulldowns: 4 sets of 12 reps at 65, 75, 90, 100lbs
Seated cable rows: 4 sets of 12 reps at 65, 75, 90, 100lbs
upright row 45lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
shoulder press 25lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
lateral raise 15lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
arm row 30lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
Biceps and Triceps:
alternate curl 25lbs | 5 sets of 12 reps (each arm)
skull crusher 30lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
tricep pushdown 45-55lbs | 4 sets of 12 reps
I also throw some kettlebell moves in there occasionally... I usually grab the 25lb one

I usually wrap things up with arms at the end of every session, and I rotate between chest, back, and shoulders on different days. I'm planning to start incorporating leg days soon too. As for abs, since you can clearly tell from the photo, I haven't really touched them yet🙂... maybe I should probably start giving them some love too.
I'm heading to the gym 4 times a week... if anyone has some solid advice or tips, I'm all ears!🙂

Hey there! Just dropping in to join the party. I'm 22, standing at about 5'8", and weighing in at 141 lbs.
Last summer, I was actually pretty consistent with working out at home—mostly bodyweight stuff and some light dumbbell work—but I had to take a forced break because of some health issues that popped up. Back then, I was pushing closer to 155 lbs, but after a long recovery period, it feels like I'm basically starting from square one again.
I've got a decent little set of dumbbells here at the house, ranging from 5 to 10 lbs, totaling about 60 lbs of weight. Looking at my photos, I'm curious to get your take on what I should focus on to see some progress. Honestly, over the last few days, I've been overeating big time because I'm trying to pack on a few pounds, so I'm looking a little bloated right now. 🙂
Here’s the flex and relax:

Oh man, you've gotta be kidding me. 😲... hey, check out what I found.

It’s not exactly heavy enough to be considered brutal, but honestly, you gotta hand it to them for the music video—or should I say, the porn flick...
