Doing business with USA member states in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I’m looking for some advice or maybe just a bit of confirmation on how this all works, because I want to make sure I've got my head wrapped around the tax side of things. If I’m offering up hotel accommodations in a city like Chicago to another agency—basically acting as a supplier for their end client—do I need to go through the whole process of registering for taxes in the US? Does it even matter if that agency I'm working with is based here in the States or somewhere overseas? Also, if I’m dealing directly with an individual traveler instead of a company, does that trigger a completely different set of margin tax rules? Any insight would be huge, thanks!

Kate Ward16 said:Look, the whole thing boils down to this—you broke a rule, didn't you? Matthew Anderson literally dropped the link right in front of you showing exactly which regulation you tripped over, and when you start quoting and dissecting those rules like that, the post just has to go. It’s just how things work around here. Moderator warning....which is strictly against the rules.
Matthew Anderson, I’m honestly sitting here just nodding my head along to everything you said, and man, I couldn't agree more if I tried. I really do stand behind every single word of that.

And I’ve already said more than enough in here, haven't I?

I mean, obviously, we all have to look out for one another, right? It’s just common sense that we need to lend a hand when someone’s struggling because, at the end of the day, we're all in this together.
Did they seriously tell you they nuked two of my posts within seconds of me hitting send? I even linked them right up there, but honestly, it feels like she didn't even bother to glance at them or leave a single comment, which is wild considering that as a moderator, she should be able to see everything I posted anyway. Even he actually admitted that my posts weren't even slightly off-topic, but apparently, they were just too "exhausting" for him because they don't fit his specific worldview.
But this post is just straight-up insults:
I honestly can't stop thinking about what everyone was saying on Reddit earlier today, because it felt like we were all circling around the same massive question without actually hitting the nail on the head, you know? I mean, does anyone else feel like the conversation just keeps shifting whenever we get close to something real? It’s almost like we're all trying to navigate this fog where nobody wants to be the first one to say something that might be unpopular, even though we all claim to want total honesty here on the forum. Is it just me, or is there this weird pressure to stay within certain lines when we should be pushing them instead? I really want to dig deeper into why we react the way we do when things get heated, because if we don't start being more intentional about how we debate these issues, aren't we just spinning our wheels for nothing? kaže:
I mean, seriously, trying to draw any kind of parallel between incest and homosexuality is just... it's honestly beyond ridiculous, isn't it? Like, how do people even get to that point of logic? It’s such a massive, fundamental leap that it makes you wonder if they’re even listening to the actual arguments being made. Honestly, this is just plain stupid, isn't it?. 🙄

I’m staying right on topic here, even if you feel like you're the one leading the charge, honestly, can you even imagine? I mean, honestly, did you even notice the insult, or were you just completely oblivious to anything being out of line?....
Honestly, I don't see any real distinction between Nazi censorship, Communist censorship, and the kind of gatekeeping you guys are pulling right now. It’s all the same pattern, isn't it? And the craziest part about all of them is that they were all absolutely convinced they were doing the right thing, weren't they? 😉
So, are we really looking at yet another Pope? 👋 Honestly, I’m going to make a real, genuine effort to become a better person before we officially join the European Union, so please, just bear with me and try to understand that not everyone is mentally or spiritually prepared to be on your level yet. One of these days, I truly hope I’ll finally be worthy of standing among you. 👋
I just stumbled onto this video and honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it because it really makes you wonder if we’re all just looking at things through such a narrow lens, isn't it? It’s one of those pieces that hits you right in the gut and forces you to sit there in silence for a second while you try to process how much reality actually differs from what we see on our screens every single day. You know that feeling when a creator manages to peel back the layers of some massive social issue and suddenly everything feels a lot more heavy and complicated than the soundbites we get from mainstream news outlets? That’s exactly what happened here. I kept finding myself nodding along to certain points, even the ones that felt a little uncomfortable to admit out loud, because there’s just an undeniable truthfulness to the way they laid everything out. Is it just me, or does it feel like we’re living in a time where everyone is shouting but nobody is actually listening to the nuances of the situation? It’s easy to pick a side and stay there, but this video pushes you to step outside that comfort zone and actually engage with the messy, unpolished parts of the human experience that most people would rather just ignore. I'd love to hear what you guys think about the implications of this, especially regarding how much influence these kinds of digital narratives have on our actual perception of justice and truth in America.

Matthew Anderson said:Every single one of those posts that ended up branching off from you and that other user, They’re gone, totally wiped out, and honestly, some of them were just completely brainless..

Hey there! What's up?

Can you believe they just won't listen?

Honestly, what am I even supposed to say when things go this sideways? How do you even begin to describe a stroke of luck—or whatever this disaster is—that hits you like this?

I can't believe I'm even typing this out right now, but does anyone else feel like we’re just spinning our wheels lately? I was scrolling through Reddit earlier and honestly, seeing all the debates about how much everything is changing just makes me wonder if we're actually making progress or if we're just moving in circles. Like, is it just me, or does it feel like every time we think we've finally figured out a solution to one problem, three more pop up out of nowhere? It’s kind of exhausting if you think about it too much, isn't it? I really want to believe that things are heading in a better direction, but sometimes the sheer amount of noise online makes it so hard to find any actual clarity. Does anybody else get that sense of total uncertainty, or am I just overthinking the whole situation? kaže:
Honestly, trying to draw any kind of parallel between incest and homosexuality is just... I mean, where do you even start with that level of absurdity? It’s completely off the rails, isn't it? Honestly, this is just plain stupid, isn't it?. 🙄

Look, let’s just get one thing straight right out of the gate: you can disagree with someone all you want, but let's keep the insults off the table, okay? If you're going to take a shot at another member here, make sure it's actually about the topic we're discussing and stay focused on the thread itself. We're all here to talk shop, so why ruin the vibe by making things personal? Let's keep it civil and keep the arguments centered on the subject matter, shall we? 😉

Matthew Anderson said:If the mods decide that something doesn't belong in this thread.

Basically, translating that, this isn't really a community space, is it? It feels more like if a moderator just happens to dislike how someone is thinking, they can just wipe it out in a heartbeat, while those totally incoherent insults calling everyone idiots—like what we saw here:

ruby707 said:Comparing incest to homosexuality is just plain stupid. 🙄

are actually vital for a real discussion and should stay right here as a permanent record of an intense and deeply layered debate.

Anyway, I was just trying to wrap my head around how this "community" actually works, so thanks a lot to the moderators for clearing that up for me.

Long live censorship, I guess! And hey, sorry in advance for not thinking exactly like you guys do. I'll do my absolute best to change myself from the ground up so you're all satisfied and my posts stop getting deleted. I finally get it now—having different perspectives is just useless and only serves to upset certain people or disrupt the social order, right?

Take care! 👋

Kate Ward16 said:I was the one who issued the warning for breaking the rules by commenting on moderation, and it's pretty straightforward—you aren't supposed to comment on moderator posts. Even though I’m not actively participating in the thread, I check in every single day to keep an eye on things. And since the warning comes with an automatic notification, you essentially receive the message at the exact same moment you get the warning, regardless of when you actually sit down to read it.

But see, you commented on the exact thing I specifically asked people not to touch because my reasoning is already perfectly clear. You're focusing on the fallout instead of the actual cause.
What I really want to know is who decided to wipe two of my posts, and why on earth they did it, especially since there isn't a single instance of insults or name-calling in what I wrote. They were gone almost as soon as I hit send... just because I shared my perspective. Is this even a real forum? Or are we living in a place where having a different opinion than the moderator is strictly forbidden?

Thanks!

Honestly, it feels like Reddit has turned into some kind of proletarian dictatorship lately, doesn't it? Like, if you aren't spoon-feeding the mods exactly what they want to hear, you just get wiped out without a second thought...
Just to clear things up and expand on what I was saying—when it comes to the whole topic of gay love and marriage, I made sure to lay out my actual perspective clearly, without ever trying to put anyone down or be disrespectful:

Christian Watson2 said:Do gay people actually feel love? I mean, obviously they do. At the end of the day, people are just people, right? We all experience the same emotions, and honestly, who has any right to sit there and try to define or dictate what love is supposed to look like for someone else?
What do I actually think about their orientation being considered "normal"? Honestly, that’s not even the point of this discussion...

Let’s be real for a second—nobody can actually pin down a single definition of what love is, so how on earth are we supposed to decide who is allowed to love whom? It feels like a bit of a slippery slope, doesn't it? I've always looked at marriage as this specific union between a man and a woman, and while I truly believe that gay couples deserve the exact same right to have a committed partnership as anyone else, I just don't think we should call it marriage or use it as a direct substitute. If we start blurring those lines, aren't we basically opening the floodgates for polygamy to demand the same status tomorrow? I mean, imagine a situation with two women and one man, or even more people who all genuinely care for one another—who are we to step in and tell them their feelings aren't valid? Why couldn't they form a legal union together, maybe even raise children or adopt? And if we really want to push this logic to its limit, what about cases where siblings or close relatives fall in love? If they're both consenting adults making a choice based on their own will, who are we to play judge and say, "No, you don't actually love each other"? There are so many different scenarios like this that make you wonder where the line is even supposed to be drawn.

After that, I ended up getting this incredibly articulate and pointed response from one of the guys over on Reddit. 🙄

I honestly don't know how people can just sit there and act like everything is perfectly fine when we all know things are shifting right under our feet, you know? It feels like every time I log onto Reddit to see what everyone is thinking about the current state of things, I’m just met with this endless cycle of noise that doesn't actually solve anything. Does anyone else feel like we're just spinning our wheels while the actual important issues get pushed to the side by people who are more interested in looking right than being right? I've been sitting here reflecting on it all morning, wondering if we're even capable of having a real conversation anymore without someone jumping in to derail the whole vibe. It’s exhausting, really, trying to find some semblance of truth in a sea of opinions that feel increasingly disconnected from reality. Is it just me, or is the whole landscape starting to feel a little bit broken? kaže:
Honestly, trying to draw any kind of parallel between incest and homosexuality is just... I mean, where do you even start? It’s completely absurd, isn't it? Honestly, this is just plain stupid, isn't it?. 🙄

I actually wrote out a full response to this post, but it got nuked by the mods within just a few minutes. I was trying to be specific, really diving into how even in major modern cultures, incest has been legally recognized at various points, and honestly, if you look at the history of literature, it’s absolutely overflowing with stories about the love between blood relatives... I might have poked a little fun at the guy who started the thread—nothing too out of line, mind you—by pointing out how he loves to dress up his insults in these overly complex, multi-word sentences to make them look like logical arguments.
So, like I was saying just a few minutes ago, my entire response got wiped out. I actually ended up sending a private message to Matthew Anderson, since he’s been all over this thread anyway, just to see what was going on. Here is exactly what I asked him:

Christian Watson2 said:Can someone please explain to me why my post got nuked when I was being perfectly civil, especially when there’s this other user calling me an idiot whose post is still sitting there untouched without even a single warning? We were just discussing same-sex marriage, so I don't get what the issue is. Thanks!

I didn't get a response, but then the next day Matthew Anderson posted on the thread:

Matthew Anderson said:Hey everyone, can we please just dial back the constant comparisons to pedophilia and incest? It’s honestly not even the topic at hand, and bringing that kind of heavy stuff into the conversation doesn't really help anyone, does it? Let's just keep things on track. Thanks.

I'm getting pretty annoyed at this point, so I went ahead and posted a response to the thread:

Christian Watson2 said:Can someone please explain to me why people get so defensive when you try to draw a parallel between homosexuality and incest? Like, seriously, why is that comparison such a massive taboo? And honestly, do you guys actually think people involved in incestuous relationships are mentally ill? If we’re talking about two consenting, mature adults who happen to be related, are you really telling me they aren't capable of loving one another, or are we just sticking to the "they're sick" label because it's easier? It’s wild to me because if you look at world literature, these kinds of relationships have been explored countless times, not to mention there are certain major cultures throughout history where this was perfectly legal. Also, when you go out of your way to tell us not to compare homosexuality to incest or pedophilia, are you basically implying that incest and pedophilia are the exact same thing? Are you actually suggesting that a relationship between two conscious, responsible adults is somehow on the same level as the abuse found in pedophilic situations? Because that's a pretty heavy implication to make. I'm half-expecting that since there aren't any real answers here, you'll just end up banning my post and handing me a yellow card, while the user above—who’s busy calling everyone else an idiot—gets a free pass without even a slap on the wrist?

Man, I can't believe they nuked my post within five seconds flat. Like, seriously? And then, to top it all off, I get hit with a private message just a few hours later after they already wiped it from existence. 🙄 So, is it actually against the rules to comment on moderator warnings now? I mean, especially when it’s coming from some moderator who hasn't even looked at the posts or followed the actual thread? It feels a bit much, doesn't it? 🙄.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on whether this is actually legit? FORUMSo, I’ve been sitting here wondering... do we actually tolerate different perspectives around here, or is this just one big echo chamber where everyone has to think exactly the same way? I'm genuinely asking because I want to know how things are run in this community, you know? If I've actually messed up or if I've somehow offended someone, then please, just tell me specifically what my mistake was or where I went wrong. But can we please skip the nonsense like telling me I'm "not allowed to comment on a moderator's warning"? Because honestly, that kind of thing only showed up at the very end of the thread, and it felt pretty unnecessary.
Thanks so much!
