Am I being too naive?
in Psychology ·
I think it’s a bit of everything, honestly. You’ve got innate intelligence, sure, but it really comes down to how you were raised and the environment you grew up in...
I personally know this woman, she's pushing 30, and she's about as naive as a toddler, despite having a PhD. Why?
Because that's how she was raised—kept under a literal glass bell jar. For all thirty years of her life, she just focused on school and stayed wrapped up in her own little bubble. She hasn't experienced enough of the "real world" to actually toughen up. Now that she's finally out on her own, she's hitting walls that would have been easy to handle if she'd faced them sooner. She's just... incredibly emotionally fragile. Injustice hits her so hard it feels like she's borderline unstable... 😢
The worst part is that she’s smart enough to realize what's happening, but she can't help being naive because anything else just feels "unfair" to her. She refuses to play games; she goes into every situation with total honesty and kindness, only to have people walk all over her without giving back even 1% of that energy.
So, you tell me... how do you even deal with someone like that? If you try to be blunt with them, they'll take it personally, and there's zero guarantee that being careful will even work...
