I’m actually a little worried about it backfiring, you know? He’s always struggled a bit with social stuff, and he still finds it pretty tough to really connect with people. It’s not like it’s a huge deal on its own, but when you combine that with his past bad experiences and just being naturally shy... man, it makes it so hard for him to just have a normal conversation. He's mostly just terrified of getting rejected :/
I'm the same way. If I don't stay on top of my medication, I end up spiraling just like I did before.
Get him to a psychiatrist immediately and just be there for him. Unfortunately, I didn't get that kind of support from my own family—quite the opposite, actually. Because of these exact behaviors, I was stepped on and belittled, and honestly, it's still happening.
If this continues, he'll eventually just shut down completely, which makes finding a job nearly impossible due to social anxiety.
Maybe his situation isn't identical to mine, but it's what I went through.
