Hey guys, I really need some help figuring out this IgE stuff...
So, my kid had two different rounds of IgE testing because of how they reacted during the prick tests for various allergens. During that first round, we got the results back for both the specific allergen and the total immunoglobulin E (you know, the lab immunology part). Then we did a second round—this one was totally separate from the first—but this time, we only received the specific allergen results. Here’s where things get super confusing, though. When I went to pick up the paperwork for the second round, the lady at the clinic told me to call back in about a month for the rest of the results. So, naturally, I called her up, totally overthinking everything, thinking we were missing something. Suddenly, the "missing" part of the report just... appeared? But looking at it now, it looks exactly like what I already have in my hand! I'm honestly stumped. Am I tripping, or is a piece of this report actually missing? Just for context, they were looking for both total IgE and specific IgE for food allergies.
