What kind of person should I strive to be?

Some people seem to think the best way to get respect is to act like a complete jerk, thinking if they treat everyone else like garbage, the world will suddenly start treating them better. Honestly, what an absolute joke. I’ve always had a massive amount of respect for someone who is just unapologetically themselves—I don't care if they're messy or difficult, as long as they aren't putting on some fake persona just to look like a saint or a villain. To me, life has this funny way of circling back around, much like how karma works, so being a total piece of work isn't exactly a lifestyle choice I'd ever make. If someone treats me with kindness, I'm going to go above and beyond to return that energy, but if they decide to be toxic, I’ll either give them a taste of their own medicine or simply cut them out of my life entirely.
