Someone mentioned that once you have three paychecks hit your account, the approval happens automatically. I just had my third paycheck land this month, but I haven't seen anything yet (checked both online banking and at the ATM today).
Also... they finally let me install the new mobile banking app, and honestly, it seems pretty solid so far.
One of the new features is the instant display of card authorizations. It shows up as "pending" as soon as you click into the transaction. You don't have to wait two or three days for them to post it like you did with the old app—though the total balance would decrease immediately, it was always a bit clunky if you had a lot of transactions and couldn't remember exactly what you'd spent money on.
Another thing I noticed is that you can upload payment codes directly from your photo gallery, which is a nice touch! It looks like they might actually be getting things right for once. 🙂

Do you have an overdraft protection limit set up? My experience was a bit different: after my second—or maybe first—paycheck hit in June, they approved a Maestro installment limit for me equal to one full salary (which is about a third of my total overdraft limit, since my limit is three salaries). Then, sometime in August, I got a letter in the mail confirming both the overdraft and the Maestro installments were good to go. Just swing by a JPMorgan Chase ATM if you're out and about and check "Maestro Installments - Balance Inquiry." Or just shoot them an email; they’re actually pretty responsive to inquiries, provided you use the email address they have on file for your account authorization.

Fantastic! How did you request the installation? Mine still says "Available to select customers."
I’m honestly at a loss for how I’d even categorize TransferWise. The thing is, they handle all sorts of personal accounts beyond just those based in Belgium. Wait, isn't their headquarters actually located over in Belgium?
They might be swapping, sure, but I highly doubt they’re going to sit there and watch their money vanish into some random foreign account just for the hell of it.
No, because the account receiving the funds is based in Belgium. So, the IRS wouldn't even have a paper trail for this; they wouldn't even realize the money ever passed through the US.
You get your monthly bill and it says: -New charges: $xx -Minimum amount due: $x
Honestly, I just pay the full balance every single month and completely ignore whatever nonsense they claim is the "minimum" on the statement. It’s much simpler that way.
Honestly, when it comes to handling email inquiries, those guys are in a league of their own. They’re incredibly responsive; I mean, they always get back to you lightning fast.
A buddy of mine just started a new gig last month. He set up his mobile banking over at JP Morgan Chase, and since his employer uses them too, everything should be streamlined. If his first paycheck hits the account this coming Monday, how long does it usually take for the system to automatically approve an overdraft on his checking account?
Exactly. If you've got specific questions for a local branch, you should probably just reach out to the nearest 😍 office. Honestly, though, they tend to be much more helpful over email. You might have better luck trying them that way.
I currently hold some B-FREE funds in USD. What I really need is to have access to Euros too. Is it possible to deposit Euros directly into this B-FREE account? Or will JPMorgan Chase just kick the transfer back to my original bank account? Also, can I actually maintain two separate B-FREE accounts—one for USD and one for Euros?
I honestly think this is an incredible deal if you happen to carry a Diners card or maybe a Bank of America Visa Premium credit card. There are some seriously impressive discounts available through the Democratic Party right now, even for just paying at the table.
How long does it typically take for a transfer from Wise to hit an American checking account? (Thinking about using Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, or Citigroup)
If I pull the trigger on this right now, am I looking at seeing those funds tomorrow morning? Since they're processing it through Citigroup, I wonder if that speeds things up.
I honestly can't tell if there’s a person actually handling these transfers behind the scenes or if the whole thing is just some automated algorithm running in the background.
