Project: Find a Friend (Classifieds / Meetup Thread) in Psychology & Therapy ·
Is there anyone out in San Diego who knows a good spot for some decent craft beer? I'm looking to grab a pint somewhere local or maybe head out a bit further. I’d love some company if anyone's interested. Just a bit about me: I’m a 28-year-old guy, working full-time, and as far as my mental health goes, I don't have any official diagnoses at the moment... though I guess joining an AA group might be something on my radar down the road. Don't be too sensitive about the humor or the fact that this is basically a community for folks in recovery; I'm just looking to keep things casual for now. 🙂
Can money actually buy happiness? in Psychology ·
I guess if you find yourself feeling happier while you actually have it, rather than when it's gone, then maybe it works out. 🙂
How do you deal with the horrors you see and hear? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I don't really care. I’ve got enough horrors to deal with right in my own backyard... Think globally, act locally, I guess.

For instance, it does sting a bit knowing that Kim Jong-un finally has the actual capability and resources to build a hydrogen bomb... then again, we’ve had equally crazy Americans doing the same thing since the fifties, so we’re all more or less just hanging on by a thread anyway. But then, the next news headline hits: the mayor of my city is announcing an increase in local property taxes from 10% to 15%... Now *that* is something I’m actually considering. I might seriously look into the idea of a paper move—just changing my registered address to some other city where the tax rate is lower, since I technically have that option. Anyway, I think I'll just turn off the internet and go fry myself two eggs.☕

I'm a 28-year-old guy living in San Francisco. I've got a steady job, and honestly, I feel pretty good about where my life is headed—I really love traveling and just staying active. No mental health diagnoses here (at least not 😁). I'm looking for someone to be a friend or maybe more, and frankly, it doesn't matter to me if you have a diagnosis or not. I'm mostly just looking for casual conversation where we can talk about whatever happens to be on our minds at the moment...

What I’m mainly interested in is getting an outsider's perspective on things. If I come to you with a problem or a specific situation I'm facing, I’d love to hear what you think. I find myself wondering how someone else would handle it, because I really value hearing an objective opinion from a completely different point of view. It always seems to spark new ideas or solutions I hadn't even considered before, which I think is such a huge advantage. It’s a great way to gain some new insight. I'm happy to offer the same kind of thing if we end up hitting it off as friends. It would be nice if you happen to be in the Bay Area or somewhere nearby, though; that way, we could actually grab a coffee or go for a walk and really talk properly, using all those non-verbal cues you just don't get through a screen.

You're only as young as the last time you changed your mind.
The streets and the drugs are just waiting for her... at least, that’s how my grandma used to say it.

I think your parents are great, really, except for one thing—they might have spoiled her a bit too much. Are you feeling confused about it? Maybe a firm wake-up call is what she needs to finally snap out of it.
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Make sure to tune in to HRT1 at 2:00 PM. We'll have psychiatrist Robert Torre joining us as a guest, and I think we’re going to get into some pretty deep discussions about psychotropic drugs—specifically how they're being overprescribed lately, almost as if they were just Tic Tac candies.
