Looking for someone to talk to. Maybe we can eventually meet up for coffee, a beer, a concert, a movie, or just a walk. I’m a 25-year-old guy with more life experience than my age might suggest.

Gender doesn't matter to me—I'm strictly looking for friendship.

We can talk about anything; no topic is off-limits. This forum is pretty slow, which can kill the urge to chat sometimes, but fine.
I'd like to type a bit and meet new people. If you just need someone to talk to, or if you just want to write without judgment or stupid comments, I'm here. And like I said, meeting up is on the table.

Ideally, you're between 20 and 30, though it's not a dealbreaker. Somewhere in the Washington, D.C. to San Francisco area would be ideal.🙂

I live in reality. I value every moment, I plan ahead, I believe dreams are achievable, and I know everyone has inherent value.
You might have to wait a little longer for a reply sometimes.
I value openness and honesty.
The best friendships usually happen when you aren't looking for them.
I'm sure there are others here who share my perspective; there are plenty of interesting people on this forum.
It’s hard to get me out of my comfort zone sometimes, so my circle stays small. If you're reading this and you get what I'm saying—reach out. Let's change that.

Let’s try this again;

I'm looking for someone to talk to. Maybe we click and move on to grabbing coffee, a beer, catching a concert, a movie, or just a walk. I'm a 25-year-old man, though I've seen more of life than my age suggests. Honestly, gender doesn't matter to me—I am strictly looking for friendship. We can talk about anything; no topic is off-limits. This forum moves at a snail's pace sometimes, which kills the urge to connect, but fine.

Hey,
It’s been a while. Decided it was finally time to resurface here.

Hey everyone. Anyone up for some occasional chatting? We can talk about anything, and if things click, maybe we actually meet up. I'm a 23-year-old guy living in Washington, D.C. If there's anyone interested in typing back—male or female, doesn't matter—as long as we're roughly the same age, feel free to reach out. 🙂I enjoy meeting new and interesting people. 🙂
Looking to chat

Looking for someone in Washington, D.C.
Jack Kerouac, 22, in D.C. Looking for some company for coffee, walks, or maybe something more... if anyone's interested. Anyone between 19 and 25?

I'll head out tomorrow. Thanks.

Hannah Edwards12 said:Look, just head straight to the emergency room; specifically, the crisis stabilization unit. They accept walk-ins without any prior notice or a referral every single day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM—or maybe 9:00 AM depending on the shift—and you’ll be seen by the doctor on duty who can sit down and actually talk to you. From there, they might adjust your current medication regimen or perhaps provide a temporary prescription for something else to bridge the gap until your regular doctor returns from their trip.

I suppose I’ll have to go... though I've always had an aversion to medication. Does anyone know if they allow phones during a psychiatric evaluation for hospitalization? If they try to take my phone, I might actually have to defend myself...

yeli said:If you're in standard inpatient treatment, they handle the meds and the food, but there isn't much actual talking with the Shrink.
It's mostly just talking with your roommates, and there's plenty of stuff going on... most people have more specific diagnoses.
What's your diagnosis?

Mainly OCD. Honestly, who knows? This guy isn't even really trying to nail down a diagnosis. But I'm frustrated, and frankly, I've had enough of life, so I told him about the occasional suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately, that's where things stand. 😢

A hospital is an option, certainly, but it isn't a cure-all.

If you end up in a standard inpatient program, they basically just provide you with medication and meals, while meaningful dialogue with a doctor remains surprisingly scarce.
Most of your interaction will be with your roommates, and let's just say... people there have all sorts of heavy baggage and very specific diagnoses.
What exactly are you dealing with?

Look, I’m no doctor, so I can't claim to know what would work best for you. Regarding the Fever, how long have you been on it?
Perhaps the current regimen simply isn't hitting the mark?
If things are truly spiraling, consider checking into a facility just to help you weather this particular storm.

The Shrink won't be available until version 3.9. I'll lose my mind before then.

Hi.
Forgive any typos; I'm writing this while completely drained.
I'd prefer to remain anonymous for now, but I need help.
I'll be brief.
I'm young, a patient of a well-known psychiatrist in Chicago, and I've been in therapy for OCD for a long time.
But right now, I'm at a loss. Because of occasional suicidal ideation—which I view critically—my doctor, having never seen me this way before, suggested hospitalization as a last resort. I refused. I'm just trying to hold on.
Frustration with my circumstances triggers depression; there was even one full day where I didn't leave my room, despite knowing how pointless that was.
I feel a desperate need to get away, to find new people and new connections.
Being unemployed only adds to the frustration.
Some might find it ridiculous that I'm posting here.
Recently, I finally broke down and cried in front of my Shrink. I've just had enough.
I have a wonderful family and a great girlfriend, but seeing their worry only makes things harder.
I want to help others, I really do, but I can't seem to help myself.
On top of everything, I've dealt with two incredibly stressful situations recently. I take Fever, though I miss doses sometimes.
There are days when hopelessness and frustration just take over.
Perhaps if I could meet people in similar situations, we could support each other through conversation.
I can't go on like this. I'm exhausted by it all, and I don't want to hurt anyone else. But myself? I don't feel that important; others always come first.
Whatever happens to me doesn't matter much since everything feels like it's falling apart, but the people I love matter.
I can laugh and pretend to be calm just to protect them, but inside, I'm suffering.
That’s the short version of what I can say via email.
I don't want to dive into the details through this medium.
So, I'm asking for advice. Is hospitalization actually an option? Are there groups for young people like me?
Hoping for a quick response.
Sincerely, in sorrow

Thanks, everyone. We'll see. Larry Ortiz5, I think I'll go with the first option, or maybe even what Timothy Kim60 suggested. Any other advice before I pull the trigger on this purchase?

Larry Ortiz5 said:For that kind of cash, you could easily score a solid dual-core rig with 4GB of RAM. But where are you even looking? Give me a city or a specific area so I can actually help you find something worth your money.

Fine, let's say Washington, D.C. Let's see what's out there.
By the way, doesn't matter if it's parts—I'll build it myself. Just let me know when you find something.🙂

Larry Ortiz5 said:Are we talking used gear or something straight from Best Buy? What’s the budget? Do you need a monitor and peripherals too?

If I build it myself from parts—used is fine. I already have the monitor and everything else. Budget is about $333. Any recommendations? 🙂

Anyone got a solid recommendation for an office PC build?

Let's be honest—that machine is already on its last legs for anything beyond the basics (weak CPU, insufficient RAM). If you're looking to drop $500/$200 or more, you could find much better options out there, like something with a dual core or more decent RAM.

Then I might actually need it. Like I said, just for basic office work. I don't have all the specs for this one yet, but if it has two RAM slots, I could probably add more. Do you have any recommendations for a standard office setup? Maybe something around $167 what you'd suggest for a basic office PC? 🙂

Larry Ortiz5 said:Look, why waste even a single dollar on such an ancient system? If you’re dead set on taking it, my advice is to wipe the drive and just install a fresh copy of Windows XP with SP3... Office 2003 should run smoothly enough. I can't tell you if you could squeeze in another 256MB of RAM without knowing the motherboard manufacturer and model.

Thanks. I already have a real machine for gaming, but this was just something a friend was going to toss out. I figured I'd grab it just for basic office work—Office, browsing the web, that sort of thing.
So it works for that? And will it handle a laser printer installation without crashing?
😁

Larry Ortiz5 said:It’s worth $67 for some light browsing where you aren't dodging constant malware or whatever. For instance, on a site like 😁 just install a clean version of Windows with SP3 and call it a day...

Thanks, Larry Ortiz5. Anyone else have thoughts? 😁
edit: Is an upgrade even possible?
I assume Office should run fine?
And is upgrading the RAM actually worth the hassle?
