Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
My mom works at a pharmacy out in the Midwest, and she tells me that people regularly come in picking up meds for some contagious bug—and then their spouse, who lives right there in the same house, pops in right after. They aren't officially ordered into isolation or anything by the CDC, so they just play dumb and pretend they didn't catch it.
Look, I couldn't care less about people driving their kids around in those vintage strollers—or the folks feeding them flour mixtures just because that’s how their grandmas did it back when things were tough and resources were scarce... Honestly, what really gets under my skin is the sheer arrogance of people who think they’ve unlocked some universal truth and feel the need to lecture everyone else, all while being completely oblivious to how backward their own ideas actually are.
I’ve heard this exact same nonsense regarding baptisms and leaving the house too early from people in my own circles. One acquaintance even went so far as to ask a local priest about it—and the guy told her, obviously, that you can go outside whenever you want—but she’s still stuck in this mindset, clinging to these old-school superstitions like they're gospel.

Hey there!
I’m not really an alcohol person—not like I’m making some huge sacrifice or anything—so it’s not a big deal for me. I might grab a shot or a cocktail if there’s a massive celebration going on (provided I’m not pregnant, obviously), but honestly, it’s more about being part of the vibe than the taste, which, let's be real, is pretty gross.
As for celebrations, I totally agree that it should be the parents' call, not everyone else's. Around here, it’s pretty standard to get together and celebrate once the baby arrives, and my husband will probably do the same—it just doesn't make sense to me to host a party while I'm still recovering and trying to manage a newborn.
One thing that really gets under my skin during pregnancy, though, is when people comment on me being "thick." I’ve actually lost about a pound due to all the nausea, but since I have a bump, people assume I'm just gaining weight everywhere. It’s annoying because I’ve only put on about 30 pounds total, so it's not like I've suddenly become huge or anything.
