How do I dig myself out of a financial hole? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
rapidskipper12 said:Yeah, you can't touch the overdraft. But listen, you actually have to cover the negative balance too. Basically, if you want the funds pulled and your account unblocked, your balance needs to be equal to or higher than the total amount blocked. You can't mess with the overdraft because that’s just the bank giving you credit—it isn't your money. 😉
If you deposit directly into a frozen account, Goldman Sachs just grabs the cash and unblocks the account. However, if you pay the specific debt that triggered the garnishment, you're going to have to call the legal department and ask them to halt the collection process. By the time they handle that, notify the court or the notary, and wait for the judge or notary to issue an order and get that paperwork back to Goldman Sachs...
There’s a much easier way to pay into a frozen account. Doing it your way is just asking to sit around waiting forever... 😉

In my case, I was being threatened with having my loan canceled—which is what started this whole garnishment mess—so I just paid off the entire outstanding balance for that loan directly at the bank to stop them from canceling it. Of course, the total was higher than I expected because a few extra installments had piled up since the initial garnishment and freeze. So, does this mean I now have to sit around and wait for the bank to notify their legal department, have them settle everything, and then have them tell Goldman Sachs to stop the garnishment? I called the woman handling my loan at the bank immediately, and she told me she’d send everything to her colleagues in New York for processing, and apparently, they should have it sorted within a week. From what I'm gathering here, am I really just stuck waiting for the legal departments to finish their business with Goldman Sachs? I haven't received any official notice at home from either the bank or Goldman Sachs, so I wasn't sure what I was waiting for, but based on what you're saying, it sounds like I might be waiting indefinitely?
Thanks 🙂

So if that's the case, is that why it happened? How is it going to work once I make the payment directly at the bank? I’m assuming they notify Goldman Sachs to lift the freeze since I'd be paying toward the loan itself rather than just hitting my checking account—that way, the overdraft shouldn't really factor into things, right?
I honestly had no idea they wouldn't accept the payment if the account was already overdrawn.

It’s just the bank and their garnishment process.
Since I have the cash on hand, does that mean I should just deposit it into my account and wait for Goldman Sachs to pull it? Does the bank need to send some kind of confirmation to clear the freeze, or is everything still handled through Goldman Sachs?
One more thing—is Goldman Sachs actually going to wait the full 60 days? Because there was money in the account when the levy hit, but Goldman Sachs didn't grab it, and it’s still sitting there even though the account has been frozen for a month now.

Does anyone know urgently if I should pay the total debt from the enforcement order directly to my bank or to Goldman Sachs? Basically, I have an outstanding loan that caused my account to be frozen, and I want to pay off the full amount right now to get everything unblocked. Do I go through the bank or Goldman Sachs? Thanks!

The only time I actually cut in line during my entire pregnancy was back in my ninth month. I was at the post office waiting behind three elderly ladies who were in a massive rush and a couple of high school kids. Suddenly, the lady at the counter spotted me and called me up right then and there, saying pregnant women get priority. One of those older ladies just turned around, gave me this little grin, and said, "Honey, if I'd heard you, I would've let you go ahead!" Haha, as if! She totally sized me up the second I walked through the door 🤣🤣 but whatever.

Every pregnancy is different, but I was one of those lucky ones who had zero issues, even in the final weeks. I stayed active and could do everything without any trouble... now that I'm pregnant again, I'm hoping it goes just as smoothly.

Anyway, it looks like I'm the one with the problem 😄

I wasn't suggesting there was anything wrong with them just because they had an easy pregnancy—God forbid! My point is that there's no need to make comments toward pregnant women who aren't as lucky and are struggling from day one... of course, not everyone is like that, don't get me wrong.🙂 My comment was really about those certain types of people I've run into... you know, the ones saying things like, "Oh, I had contractions at 39 weeks, there's no way you're having them at 20 weeks, it's probably just indigestion or something." That's the kind of thing people say when they haven't actually lived through it. If I haven't experienced something personally, I don't feel right commenting on it like that.

What really gets under my skin is how everyone around me acts like I’m just being dramatic. They think I'm exaggerating when I say that being 21 weeks into a twin pregnancy is already exhausting. It’s hard to walk, contractions start out of nowhere, and finding a comfortable way to sit during the day—or even sleep at night—feels impossible. Instead of support, I get these constant comments like, "It wasn't like this for me, I felt great!" or "There's no way you're having contractions already; that happens much later." Honestly? I only find any peace when I read online that other women carrying twins have gone through the exact same thing. It’s the only thing that convinces me I’m not actually losing my mind.

I didn't have twins, but my pregnancy was brutal starting from week 15... I was already feeling those contractions, but everyone was just like, "Nooo, they haven't started yet, it's way too early." And I'm just sitting there thinking, okay, sure, I guess you know my body better than I do... But those comments where people brag about how great they felt—like, "I practically climbed Mount Everest in my third trimester"—those used to really get to me early on. I actually started wondering if something was wrong with me, until I realized the problem wasn't me, it was them....

Help me out here... I'm 5 weeks pregnant and this intense pelvic pressure is starting to make it impossible to even sit down. Has anyone else dealt with this?? 😰😰
