Why do we all binge the same stuff at once? in TV Series ·
It feels like every time a major thriller drops, the entire internet just collectively loses its mind and watches it in one sitting. Is it just me, or is the "all-at-once" release model actually killing our ability to actually talk about shows as they happen?

Well, I guess it all depends on who’s being insulted and who’s doing the insulting.
For instance, they have this rule against mass labeling people, and from what I can see, someone actually caught a ban for that.

It just goes to show that the rules are pretty much up for interpretation depending on who you ask.
I won't go so far as to call it a double standard, but it's definitely looking a bit sketchy.🙂

Who would have stumbled upon an alternative route through the US just by chance a hundred years ago? People would still be debating where to go next after the Canadians shut down the borders.

You either sell whatever little you have, or you take out a loan—how much do you think it costs to get those dollars through Mexico by bus? Maybe 35k? And back then, the journey would have taken weeks.

They simply have better access to information now.

Everything is digitized—the E-book, E-personal ID, Erodian documents, the E-diploma, all of it.
That’s exactly why they’re carrying smartphones; they need them to pull up all their paperwork.🙏

To add to that, my father moved to Germany back in 1963 after completing four years of school and six months of vocational training. He built up a decent amount of wealth there entirely legally, paying his fair share of taxes along the way. His only brush with the law was back in 1965; he received news from home that his son had been born, and in his excitement, he hopped on his bike while intoxicated—he didn't even own a car yet—and ended up colliding with a police cruiser in traffic.

If young, educated professionals can't find work because they're being undercut by unskilled immigrants who lack basic literacy, then we have to face a hard truth: the issue lies with those graduates and their unrealistic expectations.

Just to demonstrate how much you bend the statistics to fit your own narrative:

From that Wikipedia article you cited:
If you look strictly at the number of registered foreign nationals, the figures tell one story. However, once you filter out offenses that simply couldn't be committed by Americans, that ratio plummets to 2.4 to 1. And if we narrow our focus specifically to males between the ages of 14 and 21, the ratio settles even lower at 1.9 to 1.

When calculating that nearly fivefold increase in offenses, you really have to factor out the 20% of crimes committed by individuals without legal residency in Germany—like those organized Romanian burglary rings. You also need to exclude transit-related offenses occurring at borders or airports. Beyond that, we should set aside violations concerning illegal entry and residency status; those are the types of infractions that a local resident or even an EU citizen simply wouldn't be capable of committing in Germany. http://www.tagesspiegel.de/politik/m.../10269280.html.

You can use a simple calculator to prove your statistics are accurate, provided you actually take the time to run the numbers through a basic calculation.
If women make up less than 6% of German prisons, that implies men are responsible for roughly 94% of those offenses. When you factor in that most crimes are committed by men between the ages of 14 and 49, we have to adjust our estimates accordingly. Ultimately, this suggests we don't actually have 100% reliable statistics.
I think they're making more mistakes than that, but certainly not five times as many as you're claiming.
If you factor all of this in, you’ll end up with a multiplier somewhere between 1.1 and 1.4x—though even those figures aren't perfectly accurate, they certainly aren't as off as yours.

In Germany, the statistical percentage of female criminals is lower than the overall female population, largely because many young German women between 14 and 21 get caught shoplifting from local grocery stores. On the other hand, you don't see Muslim girls doing that as much because they know there will be much harsher consequences waiting for them at home. That’s just how it works. And remember, all of this petty crime gets lumped into those same statistics.

As Churchill famously put it, “I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself.”

Is that just some local urban legend, or did he actually tell you that himself?
My old man’s got a story that hits pretty close to home; he tells me that when I was born, he’d spent every cent he'd earned over the previous five years down the drain and showed up at the house without a single dime to his name.
He once stumbled out of a bar and ran right into a cop car, so they basically had to give him a ride home.🤣
Sam Ramos85 said:My parents are actually up in Germany right now, and they’re telling me that none of these able-bodied men Angela Merkel has been taking in lately are even looking for work—they're just wandering around aimlessly.

So you mean they *are* looking for something, maybe even an actual job?😁
wiredtiger8 said:So, who’s actually "manufacturing" them?

Is it the Russians?

I mean, just buy up their houses, burn all their paperwork—degrees, birth certificates, whatever—hand out brochures with maps leading straight to Germany, and then tuck a few thousand bucks in cash into everyone's socks...🤣

A group of over 100 refugees who were just bussed via train to the border crossing near Springfield by the Austrian authorities have been sent all the way back to Denver because the Austrian police refused to let them cross the border into their country, according to reports from The New York Times.

Man, who's actually telling the truth here?? Is it the Austrians claiming they can't take any more, or is it the Americans just making up excuses so they can turn the borders into a total military zone..?

It feels like a total media circus, just a choreographed little dance of misinformation designed to keep the American public scratching their heads and looking the wrong way.😁
Thread title change proposal in Feedback & Suggestions ·
James Cox7 said:I’m all for this suggestion, honestly. It feels pretty ridiculous seeing the mods playing games with thread titles like this—it’s not like we’re voting for Miss USA or something, so there’s really no reason for the title to be flipped around like that. I also have to call out the moderation team for letting that "sexist" title slide for a bit without anyone stepping in to fix it.

The way they're handling this is just a joke, right down to how the mods are running things.👎
In my book, the only correct way to list it would be "Kamala Harris, President of the United States of America."
