I tried all those alternative methods, but honestly, things just got worse since nothing actually worked. It was a struggle that only I—and others going through it—really understand. Medication was the only thing that finally brought me back to my old self. I’m doing great now, though I still get that familiar feeling every once in a while when I'm exhausted, but it's nothing compared to how bad things used to be.
I don't expect this little pill to be a magic fix, but it’s definitely helped me get back on track. I feel like myself again, though the mere memory of the seizure still gives me the creeps.
Does anyone else deal with little waves of anxiety or panic while on antidepressants? I’ve been on mine for two months now and honestly, things have been great—my old issues are pretty much gone. But today, while I was out grabbing coffee, I got this sudden wave of feeling like I might pass out. It totally triggered that old sensation. Maybe I just overdid it being out all day and I'm actually just exhausted? It really spooked me, thinking I might slide back into my old patterns, but I'm taking my meds and hoping for the best. I really don't want to go through that hell again.
The only real difference is how the inactive part (the mesylate or the hydrochloride) splits away from the active stuff (the paroxetine) once it hits your digestive tract. But the end result is the same: only the active paroxetine molecule gets absorbed into your bloodstream to do its job.
So, no worries. Your new antidepressant is just a clone of the old one. 🙂
I am such a mess right now... just my luck, I guess. :/ I’ve been on Prozac for a month and it’s honestly been a lifesaver. My life finally feels normal again and those panic attacks have totally vanished. But then, out of nowhere, I run out of pills and apparently, they’re impossible to find anywhere in the US. People are telling me they can't even order them. Just great! So, I call my doctor—who is seriously wonderful, by the way—to explain the situation. He tells me all the pharmacies are suggesting I switch to Paxil instead. I asked him if it was really the same thing, and he said no, but suggested I start taking half of a 10mg dose and eventually work my way up to 20. Just my luck! Right when I finally find the one medication that actually works for me, I have to swap it out. Has anyone here ever switched from Prozac to Paxil?🙏
So, I’ve been on 20 mg of Prozac and 15 mg of Celexa for about 20 days now (though I've only been on the Celexa for 10). Everything was going incredibly well up until two days ago. I actually started getting out more, hitting the mall and stuff. Most importantly, that dizziness I was dealing with finally vanished. But then yesterday—and especially this afternoon—the dizziness came crawling back. I’m honestly confused. Why now, right when I was starting to feel better? Now I'm just worried everything is going to spiral back to how it was before.😢If anyone else has dealt with something like this, please let me know. I had some side effects from the meds, but nothing too crazy; they passed pretty quickly. I’m just so happy with the progress I've made, and I really don't want to end up stuck in bed again because my head is spinning. Since I'm taking two different meds, I thought I was over the hump and that things wouldn't revert like this.😢
Just wanted to let you guys know that everything is going great—no more drowsiness at all. I’m heading out now feeling really happy... it honestly feels like my old self is finally coming back.👍
Komaa, I slept through the entire afternoon and I still feel exhausted. WTF?! I really don't want this to become my new normal. ;( What's going to happen when I switch over to the full dose of 😵 in five days?
I just took two Xanax because I can't get a wink of sleep from the Deprozel; I’m just tossing and turning all night long. Last night, I took half of that 15 mg Calixta, and within thirty minutes, I felt totally buzzed—stumbling around and mumbling. It knocked me out cold, though, and I’m still feeling pretty drowsy today. Will this grogginess ever go away, or am I going to feel drugged every night and all day? Honestly, I feel great otherwise; the meds seem to be working since I don't feel as overwhelmed as I used to.🎉,I’m not crying and everything... there’s some progress, even if it’s small, and it feels amazing!
Jason Vaughn482 said:Yeah, it sounds like your blood pressure is bottoming out. Last Božic, I actually blacked out right in the middle of the bathroom in the dead of night.
Did you end up staying on it, or what? I'm going to see how I feel tonight.:/
Michael Hill2 said:Just take the pill. If that wave of weakness and panic hits you again, just take some Normabest or Xanax—whatever they actually prescribed you.
Honestly, I don't think you need to spiral. I went through something pretty similar when I first started Luvox. 😉
thank you🙂I bumped my dose from 10 mg to 20 mg this past Sunday, so I’m not sure if that triggered it—maybe it was just a sudden panic attack in the middle of the night. I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor, but they are never around exactly when you actually need them... grrr.
I feel totally fine all day, but then as soon as I drift off at night, it hits me... and after that, I’m just restless and can't sleep, just tossing and turning.
Michael Hill2 said:If you just started an antidepressant, especially one with sedative effects, and you take it right before bed, this isn't exactly unheard of. You're probably just feeling the sedation kicking in, which causes that dizzy sensation.
Could also be blood pressure issues. I went through hell for two months dealing with low blood pressure from Luvox, and I felt that exact same weakness and lightheadedness. 😉
I'm on Prozac, and my doctor told me it has anti-anxiety effects. I usually take my pill in the morning... but now I feel like I should take it now, and I'm panicking. I tried calling my doctor but his phone is off. I don't know what to do.😢( Should I take it or not?
Around 3 AM—I wake up after maybe an hour or two of sleep feeling just terrible. Everything starts spinning, like I can’t catch my breath, and when I try to sit up, I feel like I’m going to pass out. It really scared me tonight; I tried to get up to go to the bathroom and just got so dizzy. Has anyone else dealt with this on AP? It feels weird that I'm fine during the day, but then this hits me at night. My heart also started racing around 9:30 PM and didn't settle down for an hour. That's the first time I've felt an arrhythmia while taking this medication... I guess I'm just having bad luck with AP😢(((((
I'm on day 9 of Prozac and everything’s been fine so far—no major side effects yet. But tonight, I'm feeling this weird pressure in my chest, and when I check my pulse, it feels like it's skipping beats. Is that normal? Did any of you guys deal with this? Should I be worried?
Anyone else been through this? Today was my first day on the new meds. Is it okay if I have some chamomile tea tonight? Also, what kind of Advil can I take for a headache? Totally blanked on asking my psychiatrist.
They finally kicked me off the forums today. I woke up this morning with my eyelids all swollen, and they’re feeling pretty itchy and irritated too. I managed to get some allergy meds, but I can't touch anything like Xanax for a while. Honestly, I'm pretty shaken up—I can't believe this happened to me right when things were finally looking up. Now I'm back at square one, unable to take anything from that group of meds. It feels like starting all over again.😢
redranger2 said:If the Xanax did the trick, you were likely dealing with a minor panic attack. Regardless, you're still in the early stages of starting an antidepressant, and it's entirely possible to encounter a few more panic attacks before they start tapering off. But there is no denying you are making progress; being able to go shopping and grab coffee is a real step forward. It took me nearly two months before my meds truly kicked in and I could confidently say the panic attacks were behind me. Just stay the course. When things get rough, lean on the Xanax. Your improvement is undeniable, so just stick with the treatment plan. 🙂

Hmm, I wonder. I should mention that I'm taking one or two 0.25mg Valium tablets every day, depending on how bad the dizziness or lightheadedness gets. Is that okay? Does that even count as progress? At least the Valium helps dial down the fear and the spinning so I can actually leave the house, whereas before, I couldn't go out even with it. I tend to be way too hard on myself.😁Thanks, redranger2, and thanks to everyone else for the support. Truly, I hope everyone feels better and finds their way to healing soon.🙂 😍 And if it's just a little bit of dizziness, or if the meds cause it slightly, I shouldn't worry, right?
