When is "being polite" just too much?

Some people are just wired that way from the jump—you can actually tell who is just putting on an act and who has that genuine warmth baked right into their DNA.
Certain folks have to be aggressively polite because of the jobs they hold—and honestly, it’s exhausting! Between the forced enthusiasm and those plastic, plastered-on smiles, it can be a total nerve-wracking experience.
Now, don't get me wrong, being kind is perfectly fine, provided it stays within reasonable boundaries and fits the situation. I know this one guy who is just naturally courteous—it doesn't feel forced at all, simply because it's his baseline personality.
I think the author really needs to clarify what they mean by "excessive" politeness, though. What feels over-the-top to one person might just seem like standard, everyday courtesy to someone else (for instance,
people working in the service industry)
