Speech patterns: What do you love, and what drives you crazy?
in Psychology ·
More than half of how we communicate is non-verbal—whether we realize it or not—and I really wish people would actually pay attention to that. For instance, when I’m deep in the weeds of a topic, maybe trying a bit too hard to sound smart just to impress someone—which, okay, I'll admit I do—and I notice a girl twirling her hair with her finger... I usually take that as a sign she's into me. But then, after a while, I realize she hasn't stopped doing it, which actually means I'm probably just driving her absolutely insane. She can't even follow the conversation because she isn't well-versed in the subject matter, so she just sits there stuck, and honestly, that realization just totally kills the vibe for me.
