Douglas Booth22 said:We finally got the results today without any issues, and I can finally breathe a sigh of relief 🙂 She asked for my take on whether he’s actually ready. Looking at the assignment and the diagram he had to complete—given his birthday is January 31st and they evaluate based on a March 1st cutoff—he technically has two extra months of development on his side, so it shouldn't be an issue. We were given referrals for a psychologist, a pediatric neurologist, and a speech therapist to get a full evaluation done. That way, we can pinpoint exactly where he's struggling and work on those specific gaps to ensure he's properly prepared for next year 🙂 I'm relieved; having this extra year will make a massive difference for him

So, who did you guys contact first to request a deferral, and what’s the actual process like?
Could someone please explain these results? I'm looking at them for an 8-month-old baby. IgG-3.2, IgA-0.2, IgM-0.31. What does it actually mean when all three immunoglobulin values are this low?
Hey everyone! I’m hoping someone who actually knows their stuff can help me make sense of these thyroid labs: TSH is 5.38 (normal range: 0.55-4.78), total T4 is 127.1 (normal range: 58.1-140.6), total T3 is 2.0 (normal range: 0.9-2.8), anti-TG is < 15.0 (normal range: < 60), and anti-TPO is < 28.0 (normal range: < 60). A few months back, my TSH was at 4.5 (standard adult range: 0.4-4.0). I guess I'm wondering if this means I really need to see an endocrinologist... and could this be why I had a miscarriage? Thanks...🙂

So, this test was done on Monday, and she already put her on Sumamed based on those results today. Is the kid running a fever right now? Like, is the throat inflamed?

We had blood drawn yesterday, and the results were ready almost immediately. We went back to the pediatrician right away to show her. After looking them over, she told me she’d want to go with an antibiotic—specifically Sumamed, 5ml a day for three days. So, the prescription was actually decided yesterday. I don't know, the blood work didn't look *that* bad to me, but she kept insisting it looked crazy. She kept mentioning elevated leukocytes and too many erythrocytes, basically saying the blood work was "wild." Temperature was just hit 99.5 just now. The kid coughs occasionally, maybe a few times a day. As for the throat, she diagnosed that yesterday; she said the lungs sound "clear" and there's no ear infection.
Maria Fisher46 said:Based on what you mentioned (the sore throat), I’m guessing the doctor suspected strep throat, which is why she went with antibiotics. If she did suspect strep—and look, I’m hedging here because I haven't actually examined the kid, so I have no clue what the official diagnosis was—and if there's no penicillin allergy, then Sumamed isn't really the go-to choice for treating that. But honestly, without an actual exam, I'm not going to weigh in on the meds, and I definitely wouldn't suggest changing anything through some internet forum!

As for commenting on these lab results, we've got several other doctors checking this thread, so they'll probably jump in with their own takes on the findings and the pediatrician's notes. To me, though, everything you typed out looks like perfectly normal results for a 16-month-old.

Thanks so much for the reply! I feel a little less panicky now after reading your comment, especially since the blood work seems fine, even if the way the pediatrician described it still makes zero sense to me. Honestly, the main thing is just that my kid is okay. Yesterday really spooked me; she was acting like anything could happen based on these numbers, but she didn't actually say anything specific besides mentioning that sore throat! Thank you🙂!
Maria Fisher46 said:When was the blood drawn (relative to when symptoms showed up—like, how many days after getting sick)? I honestly find it unbelievable that based on these results (Erc 4.64 and leukocyte high ref interval 0), the doctor is claiming my white cell count and red cells are elevated, because looking at this report, it clearly isn't the case!

My temperature started creeping up on Friday evening, then by Sunday it hit 39C (taken rectally), and they drew my blood on Monday—so, yesterday. Honestly, her comments really rattled me since nothing in the results looks particularly high. And then there's the Sumamed... Is that even something you prescribe for stuff like this? Thanks so much for the help!
Maria Fisher46 said:Hey Tyler Jones8,

The lab results you posted look totally normal to me. I mean, why even get bloodwork done? Is there something specific making you worried? From what I can see here, everything you listed looks exactly how it should be.

At first glance, the labs looked fine to me too, but our pediatrician was all like, "there's a little bit of everything going on here." She was talking about that blood work—mentioning the constantly high leukocyte levels and how there are tons of erythrocytes, basically saying she wasn't happy with the overall picture😕. She prescribed us some Sumamed, which just left me feeling super confused, so I figured I'd grab a second opinion. The kid's had a fever for three days—hit 102.2F once—and has a sore throat.
I was hoping someone could give me their two cents or maybe if there's anyone here who actually knows how to read blood work, help me make sense of these results. It's for my 16-month-old:
Lkc 9.1 (6.0-16.0)

LYM 55.6 (15.0-55.0)
