But here we go—they can see everything: who owes what, how much, if someone’s behind on a payment, the works. It’s got absolutely nothing to do with GDPR. It's pretty obvious that banks can basically peer into whatever they want...

I guess you're right; the system doesn't really function on actual consent anyway, which is kind of a problem.

I’d honestly love to get my hands on one of those reports, if only out of pure curiosity to see EXACTLY what kind of data they can access. Is that even something a regular citizen can request?

You can't exactly search for it in the OSR. HROK might have been able to, though. Neither Chase cards nor Citibank cards are included in the OSR system, but there's a link that uses the same thing:

I was looking through the user terms on the HROK website earlier. It’s pretty standard stuff if you’re used to reading fine print, but I guess there are a few things worth noting for anyone actually planning on using their services. The breakdown covers how they handle user data and what the responsibilities are on both sides. It’s mostly the usual legal jargon regarding liability and service usage, though it does lay out clearly how they manage account security and any potential disputes. If you're planning on linking a Chase card or a Citibank card to anything within their ecosystem, you might want to pay closer attention to the sections on transaction processing and data privacy. It seems fairly straightforward, but then again, these things always have those little clauses that can trip you up if you aren't paying attention. Just a heads-up to read it all before clicking "agree," I suppose. Not much else to say about it, really.

Edward Evans7 said:Look, my buddy's personal loan at JPMorgan Chase was actually approved on May 20, 2020. It was just a standard unsecured loan, $58333. The bank required three months of checking account activity, three certified pay stubs, and a letter from his employer. On top of all that, he had to switch over to them to refinance an existing loan he had at Wells Fargo. To pull that off, he needed an official statement showing his current debt balance. That little bit of paperwork cost him $10.

The hrok system is active again as of Reddit from 10/6, so I guess there shouldn't be any need for a printout

They wanted three months of pay stubs, three months of transaction history, and a letter from my employer confirming my job status. And since I was paying off that old debt, they definitely needed proof of the payoff amount for the existing loan.

There’s no more hiding behind those display settings now that they've got their hands back on the controls—they can see everything. I guess you'll just have to wait for them to verify whether you're actually solvent before they let you close anything out.

Back when HROK was actually around, I never had a single issue getting a loan approved. Now that they're gone? Suddenly, according to them, I'm some kind of credit risk. It’s a joke.
My take on this whole mess is a bit different, though. Without HROK in the picture, it feels like everything has gone sideways. You’ve got these shady characters—not saying everyone, obviously—who are somehow pulling loans out of thin air, while people who actually have the cash to pay them back (again, not everyone, but you get the point) get slapped with a rejection. In my case, I'm being denied the exact same deals that these obvious scammers are getting handed on a silver platter.
Honestly, I’m rooting for HROK to make a comeback. Things might actually start making sense again once they do.

Look, if you're creditworthy, you're creditworthy. There shouldn't be any games being played.
HROK is just an indicator of everything else. In my situation, for example, it might look like I'm drowning in debt, but how am I supposed to prove my income from tourism to a bank when that cash isn't going through the specific account I use to pay my taxes? The American version of HROK basically runs on consistency; if you have ten loans and you pay all ten back on time, you get the eleventh one.

And as for what they'll offer you, you'll probably get the same thing you were getting before, if not less, especially since the Federal Reserve has really tightened the screws on banks regarding personal loans.
By the way, which bank do you use? If you're curious, I could try to run the numbers on your creditworthiness or explain how the math actually works.

Kenneth Jones70 said:There’s always some new refinancing deal designed to wipe out your old loans.

Then in a few years, you’re looking at another refinance just to cover the first one.

It’s a never-ending loop. 😁

Look, I get it. For most of my life, I didn't waste money on junk—it was all about real estate and then eventually grabbing a high-end car, maybe $50k or so. But life hit me with a couple of bad breaks, and suddenly, I was underwater.

Every time I feel like I'm finally getting back on my feet, something trips me up. I’ll land a new gig, and a few months later, the whole company is basically circling the drain—happened to me three times now. At one point, because of where I worked, even my checking account got frozen.

Things are okay now, though. I pull in a solid $8k a month, plus some side gigs here and there, but I’m still dropping $4k on bills and debt—just me living in the house.

So now I’m chasing another loan—a personal loan to kill off that old refinance from when things were rough. Basically, I'll bump up the monthly payment by $167, but it knocks five years off the term and nets me about $5k in cash. Honestly, I'm just trying to be debt-free by 45. My son will reap the rewards down the line since he'll inherit the house—if he actually appreciates it, that is.

I'm out here fighting mortgage battles, while others are struggling with car notes... everyone's got their own grind, I guess.

I totally feel you. There are people in this Amex thread who have balances hitting $6667 limits on Chase cards starting from $33333... to them, this sounds like a foreign language...

They’re out of credit 😂😂😂, they'll basically be biting their own tails... since there's nothing left to approve for anyone else.

Susan Baker6 said:I moved all my direct deposits over to them about a year ago, and I’m pulling in roughly $4,900 a month. They set my starting limit at $333. I’ve got this credit card—basically my version of an American Express—but I don't really use it much unless I'm dropping some serious cash and want to pay it off in installments. That's why I was wondering if I could just ditch that card entirely and get a higher limit on my main one instead.

iPhone using Tapatalk You can, sure, up to $3000 given that salary.
It probably doesn't make sense to ditch the Premium vis to get an interest-free installment option; you won't get that kind of deal with the Walmart card.

Susan Baker6 said:I'm really curious—did you guys ever go out of your way to ask for a higher credit limit on your Walmart card? Thanks!

I guess you could probably ask your personal banker about bumping up the limit? If you don't mind me asking, what's your current approved limit and what does your salary look like?
