They actually cleared the regulatory hurdles for the US about a year ago. As of right now, though, the feature set is pretty thin compared to Revolut, and they don't have any crypto support yet.

Edward Evans7 said:I have a quick question 🙂

My Chime account has been registered in Canada for quite some time now.
Now, I’m looking to switch the registration over to Germany.

1. Will I lose any of my current perks—things like being able to use Affirm, those negative balances, or credit options?

2. How much of a headache is the residency verification process? Are we talking about a mandatory video call or something similar? I didn't actually do a video verification when I first opened the account, though the account and card are working perfectly fine as it is.

You're going to have to do a video call.

Which one were you at?

Just hop on your desktop computer instead and get the chat running from there.

darkmaker94 said:I followed all the steps—picked a US account, filled out everything, sent over my ID—but then I got an email saying my verification failed and told me to hit up customer support.
Now the app is just stuck on this screen and won't let me move forward. Every time I tap "continue," nothing happens. 🤷 😬

Tried reinstalling and signing up again, but it keeps throwing an error about my info already being in the system (probably because the app cached it) and telling me to contact support again.

Just trigger the verification process one more time and it should clear right up; you'll end up talking to a different agent who will send over your PIN.

Hmm... that's a bit odd, isn't it?

Did your card actually show up yet? For me, there was absolutely nothing happening before the phone call; it’s like everything just stalled. It wasn't until the entire registration process was fully wrapped up that the option to order the card finally popped up in the app.

electricbadger89 said:I just realized that a transfer from Chime to N26 current is instant—the funds hit the N26 account immediately.
That isn't the case when moving money from N26 to Chime.

Just doing a little testing and playing around here.

From Chime to Chime... fastest it takes is about 9 hours.

I didn't have to deal with that back in Canada.

I'm not entirely sure if they've updated their policies recently, but when I went through the registration and ordered my card, a quick video call was mandatory. It can get a little awkward, honestly—like if you end up talking to an Indian representative, or in my colleague's case, his wife had her face covered and her English was pretty rough, though nothing is truly impossible if you try. It’s mostly just the standard stuff; they'll have you snap a photo of your ID, confirm your full name, ask for your email and phone number, and at some point, they'll check in to make sure nobody is forcing you to open the account against your will.

Ashley Sanchez5 said:I set up a family plan with access to Germany, and they actually reached out via video call... The problem is, they don't speak any English and are refusing to go through the verification process. They won't even let anyone translate for them! What on earth am I supposed to do with that?

They really have to do the video call. Tell them to check if there's an option to handle the whole thing in German instead.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
As soon as the card arrives, I'll make sure to hit that $15 minimum transaction.

Thanks, the card should be showing up any day now. And if luck is on my side, I'll have that $15 ready to roll soon enough.

wiredtinker11 said:Is it possible to top up a Chime account the same way you would with Revolut—specifically by using Google Pay? I mean, can I just link my main bank card to Google Pay and handle the whole transfer to Chime in just a few clicks? With Revolut, the process is incredibly smooth; the entire top-up takes maybe five or six seconds tops.

Yeah, you can.

LINK for Registration Services

Now, here’s the thing—when you're going through the Registration Services, they don't actually offer shipping to the US. It's kind of a headache if you're trying to bypass the system, but basically, you just have to select Austria instead. When you get to the part where you pick your delivery address for the card, just type in this info

Your full name

Address __

1000 Los Angeles, Italy

Since they don't have a 10,000 zip code listed, it might seem a bit sketchy, but the card will show up regardless of whether the zip code is technically "correct" or if you've set the location to Austria. It works the same way for other cities too; you just need to make sure you find a valid zip code within Austria that makes sense for the routing.

Just so we're clear, that 15 USD goes to you, not to some new user signing up.

Edward Evans7 said:I am absolutely stuck when it comes to ordering a Chime account

Here is what I'm entering:
Street: Cleveland Street
Number: 55
Zip Code: 42000 Cleveland, USA
City: Cleveland
State: Canada

???

"Looks an invalid postcode"
~>WTF?!?!

Try entering 4200 instead of 42000 and it should go through.

Instructions are attached below.

Since there isn't a zip code for 10000, just leave it. The card will show up regardless of the fact that the zip code is off and it says Austria. It works out in the end.

Kevin Morris12 said:I’m such a fan of using Apple Pay for top-ups; I find myself relying on it constantly with my Chime account. Once you link it up with PayPal, you can basically fund your balance using any domestic card you have stored in PayPal in just three quick clicks—no messing around with extra details, verification codes, or CVVs.

Yeah, Google Pay doesn't have it yet, though I've heard from people that they're working on getting it implemented there eventually.
