Mortgage loans and co-signers in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
You need real estate to qualify for a mortgage. If the applicant is already financially solid on their own, there’s usually a specific reason they’re bringing a co-signer into the mix—maybe it's the type of job they have, working overseas, or just how their employer views their stability... I assume they already explained to you why a co-signer is necessary for this loan?

Paul Hughes4 said:Just one question,
I went into JPMorgan Chase to take out a mortgage, but they’re asking me for co-signers. I don't really get why, considering the property itself is worth four times the loan amount. It seems like that should be enough.

Before I bother checking with other banks—since it's already the weekend—does anyone know if this is standard practice across the board at most major institutions?
Thanks

They're gonna ask for co-signers if your own income doesn't meet their credit requirements. The value of the house doesn't actually prove you can pay them back; it's just one way for them to protect themselves if things go south...

Nah, you can really only hold one of each type of account at a bank—like just one checking, one savings, and one foreign currency account...
Chase Student Starter Pack in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
It’s just not possible to extend it. According to the fine print, once you hit 27, the account automatically switches from student to regular regardless of whether you're still in school or not.

Back in the day in Canada, you could only pull cash from an American Express at the post office, and even then, they capped you at $250 per day. You should probably give them a call—the number is right on the back of your card—just to see if their rules have changed since then...

loneseal42 said:Good evening—and look, I am perfectly aware of where one files a formal grievance🙂 ,but my actual concern lies elsewhere: what kind of fallout is this individual actually facing?☕

Since you were asking how to go about it...
loneseal42 said:To whom it may concern—I have a situation involving an acquaintance who holds a position at JPMorgan Chase. This individual has been accessing my personal accounts without any authorization—not just mine, but also those belonging to my mother and the rest of my family. How does one go about filing a formal complaint to ensure this person faces actual consequences? It isn't a matter of some teller peeking at files; this person holds a more senior role, specifically catering to high-net-worth clients. I am currently based in Savannah, while this individual operates out of Washington, D.C. And let me be clear: this wasn't a singular lapse in judgment—this person has accessed our private information multiple times within a very short window of time.

I already gave you my answer... 🤷
You really think someone on a forum like this can tell you whether that person is actually going to get fired or not?! You should probably just take your complaint straight to JPMorgan Chase... then their internal departments can figure out if you've got a valid case and decide what kind of disciplinary action needs to happen...

You can file a complaint directly at your local branch, give their client hotline a ring, or just shoot them an email...

Straight from their website:
Coverage Start Date

This is the date your policy actually kicks in. For UnitedHealth Group, they officially take on the responsibility at midnight on whatever start date is listed on your policy. Just a heads-up though—with UnitedHealth Group, there’s a waiting period of 15 days. This means they aren't on the hook until the 16th day after your official start date, provided you've already cleared that first premium payment...

Bank account frozen: What should I do? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
She probably just needed to drop off her new employment contract back in December. If she’s always on those fixed-term contracts, the bank is going to need a copy of every single extension just to verify her income stays steady and they can keep her overdraft active. It’s likely her account isn't actually frozen, but since her overdraft limit was pulled, she's sitting in the red and can't pull any funds... She should probably just head down to Chase on Monday and they'll tell her exactly what paperwork they need to get that credit line back up and running.

Chris Hall47 said:Greetings. I am seeking some advice before I pick up the phone to call my bank; I have been a customer at Chase for several years now.
Here is the situation—I had a minor outstanding debt regarding some court costs that I couldn't settle immediately because my paycheck was delayed by four days. In the interim, a levy was placed on my account, leaving me in an unauthorized overdraft of $67 for two full days. My salary finally hit the account, the debt is settled, and I am no longer in the negative, yet my account remains frozen. I discovered this last night while at the grocery store—it turns out I cannot even use my card at the ATM. I have access to online banking, where I can see that my balance is fine and everything looks correct, except for the fact that my card is completely useless...
What should my next move be? I haven't dealt with anything quite like this before. Aside from calling the bank later today, what else?
Thanks!

It’s possible they just haven't unblocked your card yet (I think it usually takes about 48 hours 🤷 ). Honestly, just head down to the local branch; if the account itself isn't blocked anymore, they should be able to get that card working for you right there at the teller window...

If you're hitting up JPMorgan Chase ATMs, there aren't any fees at all. As for that daily limit, you're spot on.

Haha, yeah, I guess San Francisco might be a bit of a trek for you 😉 Just give 1-800-365-365 a call and ask which ATMs near you actually take deposits, since most of them are just for withdrawals...

I can't find anything online about being allowed to overdraft on a student account if you aren't on a specific package. Does that mean you don't actually have a student account?

So $2.25? Because I was browsing online and it says there aren't any fees for student accounts (not even the package itself)...

You can only pull out what’s actually been approved—you can't just withdraw cash to dip into an unauthorized overdraft...
