Funds land in whatever currency the account is set to. If you have a US dollar checking account, any other currency sent your way will be converted by the receiving bank—unless you're using a multi-currency account designed to hold different denominations.
If you're an American citizen, just set up an email address. It’ll likely be your easiest, cheapest path to getting this done, provided you can clear registration. If you have a US ID, you should be good to go.

As far as I know, Walmart isn't even an AirCash partner, so you shouldn't be able to deposit money there anyway.

It's 2% for ATMs and checking accounts (though the fee for checking stays at 1% until the end of the month)

Yeah, you can do it from the US. The only catch is that investing through them isn't available everywhere yet—it's limited to certain countries. Their exchange rates aren't exactly their strong suit either; they’re pretty rough for dollars, and even worse compared to the interbank rate.

It’s possible, and it makes sense. You should be able to get a hearing. Given how things work in this country, the easiest route is to find a lawyer through the AARP list who works on contingency. Just give them power of attorney so you don't have to deal with the headache yourself.

ironcyclist58 said:Higher? Please. Using American Express to grab cash at The New York Times asks for 4%, whereas if you used a debit card at JP Morgan Chase, you’re looking at 2% plus $3.00 (most other banks are basically the same deal). Honestly, using an American Express Mastercard would probably be cheaper (2% plus $3.25) than pulling straight from American Express, assuming they haven't blocked cash advances—which a lot of these fintech companies do...

You're right. I was looking at those small transactions where a 4% fee hurts less than a flat fee combined with a percentage.

Yeah, I overlooked that option, even though the fees end up being way higher than what you'd pay with an American Express. Honestly, it came in handy once when I realized I’d left my wallet at home after a shopping trip and wanted to grab a coffee, but they wouldn't take cards. Getting 2% back on $3.25 is basically nothing 🙂

It all comes down to what we actually need. As long as people are offering free accounts, you take them and exploit the perks while they last or until you might need them later. Using an American Express isn't exactly profitable regarding fees for deposits and transfers when there are so many free options out there, but being able to withdraw cash in a tiny town with three houses and a single kiosk can be a lifesaver—and nobody else offers that right now. It’s not something you'll need constantly, but it's a damn useful option to have in your back pocket when it matters.

It's obvious. People hear "American Express" and immediately lose their minds, ignoring all the other details about how easy it is to use or how you can pick up a card almost anywhere for a small fee.
The ads aren't clear enough to grab my attention if I don't already know the product. I was actually wondering about this lady yesterday; it seemed so counterintuitive to buy a card at a 7-Eleven just to download an app and set everything up afterward. It felt weird. Then I stumbled upon a bunch of promo ads on various news sites and saw they had a promotion running at Walgreens when they launched them. Clearly, they managed to spark interest among people who are already tech-savvy.
At least, I assume.

I almost fell for it too until I saw the comments from some woman who bought a card and couldn't even open an account. Then I started seeing these paid ads everywhere on various news sites, and when I finally turn on CNN, there's Taylor Swift and some other crowd in their commercial. If you haven't seen it, just look it up on YouTube; it’s ridiculous. I can't tell if it's desperate or actually brilliant 🙂))

It feels like AirCash nailed their marketing by targeting people who aren't exactly tech-savvy. You just pick up a card for a few bucks at a News Corp outlet or a local gas station and use it whenever. They’ve clearly pulled in a crowd that doesn't want the hassle of setting up accounts with foreign fintech firms, adding cards to Google Pay, or even understanding what a virtual card is—they just want to shop online without risking their main checking account. Now, most of those people are probably considering opening a full account. Even my 65-year-old mother asked me to set one up for her so she could use it too. 🙂For that demographic, it might actually be a solid, straightforward option. Sure, the effort to use a real fintech app is minimal, but this feels more accessible and easier to grasp. Their marketing is decent; now they just need to fix the app before users lose interest and bail

cosmicskipper9 said:Hi there. Is their prepaid card actually worth getting? I'm thinking about opening an account because I want to pick up some books on Amazon. I'm curious how the whole process works. Since the card isn't in my own name, how does the funding work? If I transfer money to the account, does it show up on the card immediately, or do I have to load the card separately? Also, will I run into any issues using it on Amazon or other online stores? I'm a little nervous about losing my money if I order something and it never shows up.

Whether it's worth it is up to you. If you only need it for online shopping, there are plenty of more reliable services out there where virtual cards are completely free and offer better exchange rates. Just browse this forum a bit; you'll find everything there. Lately, people have been complaining they can't even connect the card, or payments are lagging. As for security, don't worry too much. Your funds stay in your account once you deposit them; the card links to the account and pulls the balance when you buy something. You can always issue a new virtual card instantly if you feel one isn't secure. Their main advantage is how easy it is to get a physical card and start using it immediately, whereas with most foreign platforms, you're stuck waiting for a physical card to arrive in the mail. Useful if someone needs it urgently.

Look, pre-testing isn't mandatory, but you'll need a verified Cash App account to activate the card. It would be smart to handle that step first.
And sure, when you're buying a fridge, you don't worry about the delivery truck, but if that truck crashes before reaching your house, your delivery is going to be late—period. It’s the same logic as checking if the fridge actually fits in your elevator or through your front door; that's on you, not the seller. But there's no point arguing. You aren't looking for help, you just wanted to share your experience, fine. I respect that, even if I think you didn't put much effort into it. I haven't seen the ads, so who knows how misleading they actually are.

I doubt many people are going to show up with surveys in hand. Most folks have already installed the app and added the exact same card that you’re having trouble with. Very few people buy something first and then bother installing the app afterward. It’s like seeing shoes in a storefront window; you don't just grab a size 9 and head home—you try them on first. If you had just installed the app initially and seen that it crashes or fails verification, you could have avoided wasting $10. If you actually managed to get the app running, I'm sure adding the card would be as easy as it was for everyone else. The issue isn't that the card doesn't work; it's that you can't use it because you can't get the app to install, and nobody knows why. You received some advice, decided it wasn't worth the effort, threw $10 away instead, and that's that. You warned others about the registration issues, which might prevent someone else from making the same mistake, so fine. But declaring the whole thing invalid just because you couldn't get it activated isn't exactly >. Out of curiosity, I tried installing it on a different phone and everything works perfectly. Have you even tried contacting support through the app? Maybe you're doing something wrong.

I get it, and it’s clearly frustrating when you need something to work and it just doesn't. You have every right to vent and blow off some steam. I misread your post as you looking for a fix, so I went in that direction. To be honest, I have plenty of gripes with AirCash too; I mostly just use it to pay bills without fees. For anything else, I stick to more reliable services—and there are plenty of them out there. Hopefully, you can easily find an alternative that gives you a VISA without the monthly membership fee. There are options. 🙂

I'm not waiting around for them—they push these things so hard in their ads that people rush to activate them, but honestly, the whole thing is just full of bugs.
Besides, I need Michael Jordan right now, not some subpar product while I wait on someone else.
That’s just not how you run a business.

Your style is way too aggressive. You can only be mad at yourself for buying something without checking if it actually works first. It’s common sense: spend five minutes verifying the activation before you commit, and if the aircash fails, then you can call them trash and refuse the card. Just vent your frustrations wherever you want then. I was trying to give you advice so those $10 don't go to waste, but you're responding like you're arguing with aircash customer service instead of asking for help on a forum. Try this other login method; maybe it'll work. Reinstalling the app fixed some issues for me, so it's not all bad.

Just hang tight. Try reinstalling the app in a few hours or maybe even a day. Everyone’s been reporting glitches with the app lately, so it’s likely just some bug in the system. Honestly, it's always smarter to get the free version installed before you even think about buying a card 🙂
