I was thinking about picking up a gift—he's absolutely obsessed with robots (though he already has a children's Bible)... and then there's the cash question. Honestly, I'm a bit stumped on how much people usually give for a First Communion. We aren't family or godparents or anything like that, just good friends. What's the standard etiquette for gifts at these kinds of events?
I need to keep this brief and to the point. Some people are just putting on a massive act. Look, I get it—nobody can be sunshine and rainbows twenty-four hours a day—but they *choose* to pretend. They walk around with these wide, plastered-on grins while everything behind the scenes is a total disaster.
It honestly gets under my skin; they push this "super happy" persona so hard, even though I bet once they close their own front doors, they're a nervous wreck. To me, it just feels disingenuous—like they’re performing a role rather than actually living.
My family isn't bad by any means—really, they aren't—but as I get older, I find myself craving a completely different lifestyle because I’m starting to see things I genuinely want to change. Of course, they aren't exactly thrilled that my thoughts and actions don't align with their specific vision for me, but I’m sticking to my guns regardless.
It isn't about being rebellious or difficult just for the sake of it; it's simply that I am my own person and I hold different values in life. I really wish they could just respect that, but instead, they act like I’ve completely lost my mind.🙄.
