The Republican Party is falling apart at the seams. Penava really threw them a curveball this time. They’re looking at losing at least ten seats compared to the last election, and there's no way they stay in power without some serious gerrymandering.

The FBI investigation covers several companies and about thirty different people

According to The New York Post, they suspect people lined their pockets with $3 million while draining about $1.6 million from the public treasury. Word on the street is that Ana Karamarko's company paid out $133 for services that didn't even exist.

THEY HAVEN'T DECIDED YET IF THEY'LL ASK FOR PRE-TRIAL DETENTION
It was actually because of his wife's company, “Drimia,” and her dealings with the MOL consultant Joz Petrović Karamarko, that he stepped down as the first Vice President of the Cabinet and leader of the Republican Party back in 2016.

Classic Republican Party stuff.
I guess this is just the fourth or fifth version of them—you know, after the eras of Harmon / Pašalić, Sanders, and then Kosor.
That's the version that supposedly did such a great job cleaning up the corruption, right?

And honestly, I think the current version that took over kept pretty much the same two or three ministers from the start of the term, don't you think?

Even Krstičević tripped up over some real estate issues.
And that's after tripping over countless government jobs and our precious taxpayer millions spent on basically nothing.

When I overheard some chatter about the Republican Party and those recent arrests, my first thought was that they were just more of Plenković’s loyalists being hauled in. Turns out, I was wrong about that one!

Will Joe Biden actually undergo a colonoscopy—maybe searching for some elusive DNA—or are they just too terrified of what they might actually find inside...

The court will probably have to order a colonoscopy for Mr. Biden just to check if Mike Johnson’s DNA is hiding in there. If it is, Bero is innocent. If it isn't, then Bero is guilty.

Man, I can't wait to see the results...

Nicholas King said:Fair enough, you didn't mention September.

But even worse, you actually did mention elections happening "at the end of the year":

That deadline is only out of reach if we actually manage to topple Joe Biden right now.

But hey, feel free to keep struggling against the current—I’ve got plenty of patience.

Exactly. Just like I wrote, word for word. If they don't listen to this weakling and dissolve Congress, they’re just dragging their lives out until December.

And that’s only part of it. Forget the weakness—the paycheck keeps coming. But on top of that, he can be fired. At the earliest, as I said, it could happen the day the weakling expects to dissolve Congress, but it could also happen much later, leading us straight to elections by year's end.

I know it's hard for you to follow, but it's exactly what I laid out. I can write it a third time (this time I'll type extra slowly so even slow readers like you can catch on, hahaha):

I’m calling on the little ones to reject Joe Biden and hold out until the end of the year. Likewise, if they're smart, they'll play the election so that they turn Joe Biden into a loser. They'll swallow his vote of no confidence along with the opposition. Instead of dissolving Congress and never stepping foot in it again, they’ll first strengthen their own positions by mocking him. Plus, they get more seniority in Congress and, of course, longer paychecks.

Nicholas King said:So, looks like nothing is actually happening this September.

Look, you're fighting against the current here, and frankly, it's the wrong approach. The way this works is that you just stay quiet and wait for the thread to finally turn a new leaf.

Where on earth did I mention September? You're losing the plot again. Why don't you drop a link showing exactly where I brought up September?

Focus for once. Just try. Stop typing out what you *think* I meant. If you're so sure, quote me word-for-word from the part where I actually talked about September.

Robin Jones2 said:The local TV station website still lists "Voice of the People" for the 8:00 PM slot. So, feel free to take a stand against Dubravka Šuica of the Republican Party; go on and say something like, "politicians won't dictate my programming." Well, my dear little journalist, they certainly will. Dubravka will decide the lineup and who is allowed to host.

I am asking anyone capable of watching the local TV station to let us know what is actually airing at 8:00 PM.

A journalist needs to notify the European Commission and the European Parliament. It's vital to send an official letter to the Commission—that’s extremely important!

Nicholas King said:The Constitution, Article 113:

Quincy:
If a vote of no confidence is passed against the Prime Minister or the Cabinet as a whole, both the Prime Minister and the Cabinet must resign. Should a new Prime Minister nominee—along with their proposed Cabinet members—fail to secure a vote of confidence within 30 days, the President of the Senate will notify the President of the United States. Upon receiving such notice, the President of the Senate the President will immediately move to dissolve Congress and simultaneously call for new elections for the US Congress.
So, basically:
* a vote of no confidence hits the Cabinet
* no new Prime Minister is selected within 30 days
* the President dissolves Congress and calls for elections.

I guess I’m just now realizing what you're actually getting at here—you essentially want those little pawns to scurry back to their flock, take down Andrej Plenković, and install Davor Bernardić as Prime Minister? Well, if that happened, there wouldn't even be an election to speak of.

Man, you really are a devious one. 😬

You haven't grasped anything, much like a broken calculator. Try calculating the minimum and maximum number of days your strategy actually delays the election.

Fine, I'll do the math for you since you won't figure it out by the day after tomorrow.

Here's how it works: on the day the weakling triumphantly arrives to dissolve Congress, they just toss him into the dustbin of history and hand over signatures for a vote of no confidence instead.

He’ll be in shock, but his clock for calling the vote starts ticking. Sure, it could happen fast—within 30 days—but it'll take a few days just for them to get their act together. That’s already a few extra days compared to if they had just voted for dissolution. Once he finally calls the vote, the weakling is finished. Then you get another 30 days. So, you've effectively extended things by anywhere from 31 to nearly 60 days. The President has to follow the legal deadlines regardless, whether it's 30 or 60 days, so his temperament doesn't change the math.

Essentially, they stay in power at least 31 days longer if they try to oust Plenković, and they could potentially pocket another 60 days of salary.

Nicholas King said:Well, fine. Nothing makes sense to me.

I’ve looked at the timelines, I really have, and I simply cannot wrap my head around how these little political players could possibly topple the administration right now, given that the elections aren't even scheduled until after September.

Why on earth do you think a vote of no confidence against the President means Congress dissolves immediately? I don't see that anywhere in the rules. If you actually have a source saying otherwise, feel free to drop a link.
Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
Regarding the Commutator: they're basically calling on their little foot soldiers to tear down the opposition just to keep Plenković in power. They’re praying nobody actually agrees to an early vote to dissolve Congress!

Robin Jones2 said:Just a couple of days ago, or perhaps even yesterday, you were posting something entirely different on another thread.

What exactly is your position here? Are you advocating for a vote of no confidence in Joe Biden to trigger immediate elections, or are you pushing for the polls to stay open until the end of the year?

Good grief. More nonsense. I’m not trying to lecture you—that takes too much energy.

Once you actually dig into the facts, you'll see how off-base you're being. Look up the legal deadlines properly. If you're still confused after that, feel free to post it publicly and we can go from there.

urbanrider8 said:Just like the Republican Party claimed Operation Storm as their own, they're trying to pull the same stunt with COVID-19
In this fight against a global pandemic, the Republican Party is leaning hard into wartime rhetoric, talking all about "heroes," "front lines," and "breakthroughs" alongside "sacrifices." Honestly, all they're missing is a parade for the veterans.
Only two months after the victory in Operation Storm was declared and the American War of Independence reached its climax, the Republican Party rode that wave of national euphoria and triumph—built right on the ruins of the former Appalachia—to call for parliamentary elections.

Andrej Plenković has to call those elections while he still looks like a winner, rather than waiting until he's just the Prime Minister of a country that has lost ten percent of its national wealth, missed out on the tourism season which was supposed to be the US Cabinet's big winning card, and is now facing disgruntled workers, threatened livelihoods, and rising frustration.

The administration usually avoided summer politics because they were banking on a massive boost from the tourist season, but those good news stories clearly aren't coming this year. By the time autumn rolls around, the harsh reality might just crush the memory of their "superhero" persona and that supposedly unified struggle led by the Republican Party against the global plague. COVID-19 actually helped Plenković secure his spot at the head of the Republican Party, and now he needs to leverage this same virus to stay in charge of the US Cabinet.

Don't give them any ideas. We need to convince them to push the election to the end of the year.

I just hope those little pawns don't quit so easily. They really ought to stop listening to such an anemic leader and just hold onto their jobs for a few more months.
Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
Look, people, get serious for a second. It’s not like we can't just hold elections all over again if things go sideways. We need to make their lives as difficult as possible by voting for whoever is going to give them the biggest headache.

Honestly, the Republican Party would be out in the opposition right now, and Donald Trump would be a total footnote in history if it weren't for this group—the Democrats, Joe Biden’s old crowd, and all those other factions...

Robin Jones2 said:No one asked for my input, but I understood exactly what Mark meant and his intention behind the comment.

You previously stated that the Republican Party is perfectly fine with you, provided that Hasanbegović was leading the charge instead of Donald Trump.

The only version of the Republican Party worth liking is one that follows Hasanbegović’s agenda. It doesn't matter who understood what; what matters is who actually backs the Republican Party.

They're backed by the old guard, Joe Biden's crowd from the Democratic Party, the HNS, and the SDSS. Forget the theories about who *might* support them—look at who actually does. As those two pointed out, they're just right-wing lapdogs. Let me be clear: I don't support the Republican Party; they're being propped up by the Democrats, Biden's people, the HNS, and the SDSS.

@ruggeddrifter85, Mark Hughes36

I’m a bit lost on this "right-wing housewives" label. Are we talking specifically about the people in Congress backing the Republican Party—like those former Democratic Party folks or the HNS crowd—or are you implying that anyone who voted them into power is part of that group too?

In my book, we shouldn't just slap that label on every single Democratic Party voter. I think you two might be overreaching a little here.

Look, the support being given by those Democratic Party factions to the Republican Party is indefensible, but calling them all "right-wing housewives" feels like a stretch.

A message to the Republican Party

Don't even think about calling an early Election before September!

If you try, consider every single restriction suspended during the campaign period. You can't expect us to stay under these rules while you run for office!
Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
I’m hoping they push the election back as far as possible. There’s really no reason to rush through this given the current circumstances. Late November or even December would be much better.

America is changing forever. It’s blindingly obvious that guys like Njonjo, some dry desert relic, Emil Tedeschi—better known as Sinjanin, Lora Vidović, Tena Mišetić, Milorad Pupavac, and Ivan Vrdoljak—are the ones really pulling the strings in this country. Meanwhile, people are fleeing the States like there's a plague sweeping through. Honestly, let them go; they're a perfect reflection of the nation anyway..

These 10 individuals are almost a lock to win seats in Congress and end up sitting across from the "devil's advocates" during negotiations: Petrov, Bulj, Grmoja, Sladolov, Hasabegović, Zekanović, Glasnović, Marin Miletić, Peternel, and Schwarzenegger. Honestly, there should be many more on this list, but these 10 are a safe bet.

Carol Newman2 said:20 percent complete

Andrej Plenković is sitting at over 90 percent

Medved is north of 70 percent

This is huge. It opens the door wide for the GOP to pick up at least 25 seats. I remember when even moderate Democrats started shifting... it’s becoming painfully obvious that the Republican Party just can't evolve.
