van Niekerk is a strange one. I didn't see him celebrating much after setting that WR in New York City, nor did he make much of a fuss after grabbing the 400m gold just a few days ago... yet he seemed absolutely thrilled when he found out he’d snagged the silver tonight 🤣

What an absolute statement from Gaethje's UFC debut🙏
The rhythm of that fight was nothing short of brutal. Gaethje possesses an incredible chin; honestly, it’s rare to see a fighter take those kinds of bombs from Johnson and still be standing. That said, I have my doubts about whether Gaethje can actually reach the top tier unless he fundamentally alters his fighting style. He fights way too recklessly. It seems like there's a knockdown in almost every single one of his fights, and even though you'd think he knows what he's doing since he hasn't tasted defeat yet, it's just wild to watch.☕

I actually had no idea Gaethje was sitting at 17-0—that’s an incredible run, especially with 15 finishes and only two decisions to his name. He’s yet another undefeated fighter on this card. While MJ looked fantastic against Poirier, he didn't look quite as impressive against Nurmagomedov (though if I recall correctly, MJ actually managed to land some shots in the first round before Nurmagomedov took over with total dominance).
It's hard to make any definitive calls here. On paper, these records look flawless, but everything changes once you step into the UFC; that's where the real level of competition lies. MJ is going to be the ultimate litmus test. 👍
He actually rocked him early in the first round, but Nurmagomedov quickly took him down. What followed was a brutal GNP sequence; honestly, it's a miracle Johnson survived that onslaught.
