Just to add more context: the supplier is actually registered for VAT in Canada. So, we've got an invoice from Mexico featuring a Canadian VAT number (which I double-checked in the VAT Information Exchange System), and a CMR from the Czech Republic. Is this just a standard purchase, or are we looking at a triangular transaction?

Hey, if anyone knows what's going on... I'm trying to submit my GFI-POD to FINRA, but I keep getting hit with this error saying "consolidated" isn't filled out. We're just a small LLC, so consolidation shouldn't even be on our radar. On the reference page, the consolidation field is marked "no," but then sections AOP 155-170 are just sitting there empty. I've got no clue where the glitch is.
Just heard back from the folks over at ExxonMobil. Turns out I had the city code entered as a three-digit number when it actually needs to be four. Basically, I just needed to slap a zero in front of it. The IRS hasn't flagged it until now, so it’s been sliding through without any issues.
Terry Rodriguez17 said:Yeah, it goes straight to Medicare automatically. You don't need to send them the contract or an ID copy. On the NOAA site, you'll get a certified form with a barcode, which basically means it's been processed. Then, after a few days, a confirmation hits your email from Medicare. Sometimes I get mine in two days, sometimes it takes ten... who knows.
Thanks a ton! NOAA is all set. Now I'm just waiting on Medicare.
I'm currently filing the paperwork for a new hire through Medicare. Since they updated the system, does the registration go through to the health insurance side automatically now? Also, do I still need to mail over a physical copy of the employment contract and their ID? I haven't handled any onboarding since they rolled out these changes, so I’m a little lost on the new workflow.

I was just at the IRS office and the manager told me to file an amended sales tax return for July 2013, but then she admitted she isn't actually sure how to handle it... Basically, I reported one acquisition when I should have reported two. My question is: when I file this amendment, do I need to report both transactions, or just the one I missed? Everything was accounted for in the final settlement...
Second thing... I reported my acquisition, but my supplier over in the European Union hasn't filed their ZP yet... The agent at the IRS says we need to give them a heads-up about it... but my director says he’s not interested in dealing with the headache. If I just submit copies of the invoices, will that be enough?
Thanks in advance for any input 🙂
I dealt with something pretty similar once. You just send over a new sales tax return along with the tax for the month you're amending. So, dates from 01.-31.07.2013. And if they require a new summary report, just include that too. I ran into a massive discrepancy when trying to reconcile everything with the VIES database. A ton of foreign suppliers hadn't logged their deliveries. We ended up reaching out to all of them, and they eventually got it sorted out retroactively.

It already cleared customs and everything, but basically, the sales tax was undercalculated because the total should have been $1,100 higher than what was listed. What's the deadline for notifying Customs to fix the tax assessment? And more importantly, what kind of penalties are we looking at if we don't report it right away? I’ve been digging through the CBP website, but I can’t find anything concrete. Any help would be appreciated if anyone knows the drill.
Just an update for anyone wondering—I figured it out. You can report all those discrepancies within a 3-year window without getting hit with any penalties.

The IRS reached out to us about some discrepancies between our reported sales tax filings and what's showing up in the official databases. Turns out, a few of our suppliers over in Italy and Spain haven't been reporting their shipments correctly on their end. Even after I sit down and crunch all the numbers, I’m still staring at a gap of a few hundred bucks. Honestly, I'm thinking it’s just a headache caused by exchange rate fluctuations. Anyone else dealing with this kind of nonsense?
Rachel Morris42 said:Hi everyone. I was hoping someone might be able to lend me a hand with a quick question. We just received an invoice from our Canadian suppliers for some goods we purchased, and it includes the shipping costs on there as well. I'm wondering if I need to split the amount between the cost of the goods and the transportation service—essentially recording the acquisition of assets and the imported services from the USA separately? Or would it be more appropriate to bundle everything under the acquisition of goods, since the shipping is a direct cost that goes straight into the total purchase value of the items?
You’ve gotta separate the service from the acquisition. That's how it works on the sales tax filings, too.
I really need some help here! I’ve got to put together a bid for some supplies being paid for by the US government. The goods are actually being donated to build out restrooms at one of our local elementary schools. So, basically, the stuff stays right here in the States, but the US government is footing the bill. I’m in a bit of a bind. When I write up the quote, should I be marking it as "E"? Is this exempt from sales tax? And if so, which specific clause or regulation covers that?
Once you’ve applied using your digital signature, you gotta hit F10 to confirm everything. If you end up changing anything after signing, you’ll need to re-sign before hitting F10 again. That was the official word I got via email from Medicare regarding the digital signature process.

I'm also getting an error message saying my digital signature doesn't match the information on file. I actually just had my certificate renewed recently, so I wonder if that might be causing the issue...
You’ll need to send a copy of your ID, your employment Contract, and the processed filing from Medicare.
The guys over at the FBI told me it’d be cleaner if I just invoiced them for the goods directly—then I could put together a return authorization and a Bill of Lading, or even just a formal statement to prove the shipment was sent back across the border.
I don't know about you guys, but I've been staring at my screen for way too long today. Just one of those days where everything feels like a bit of a slog. Still, we're pushing through. kaže: Every single time I reboot my PC, things just stop working. It’s such a pain. I have to manually open ActiveClient, head over to "My certificate," right-click the specific one I’m using, and hit that option to "Make available in Windows." Once I do that, everything finally runs smoothly.
Support told me this once, so hey, maybe give this route a shot if it helps you out.
Alright, it’s done. Huge thanks to everyone for the help.
