I'm trying to file my first claim with Medicare today and I keep getting hit with this "Digital signature does not match data" error. Tried calling their support line, but it's just dead air. No one's picking up. Anyone have any clue what's going on?
We just got a shipment in from Italy. Everything cleared VAT and all the tax paperwork back in February. Now, we’ve gotta send some of it back because the quality is honestly pretty subpar. What’s the play here? Do I need to issue a credit memo and file a VAT adjustment with the IRS? Should I handle a new CMR, or is there something else I'm missing?
We finally got the approval on March 10, 2014, for some goods from Italy that we actually brought in back in April 2013 (we weren't even part of the USA at the time). Does this need to show up on my sales tax returns or the VAT report? I’m leaning towards no, since the tax was already handled through Customs back then. Also, how should I record this approval in QuickBooks? Should I list it under imports or as an acquisition? Every time I try to book it, it keeps pulling into my tax forms.
I can't get the payroll files sent out today. It’s totally stuck on the form upload stage. I keep getting this error saying my certificate isn't valid. Seriously, I need some help here!! People are waiting on their paychecks....
So, we just got an invoice from Italy. Along with the actual goods, there’s this weird line item for $117—it says 15 units of some product at a price of 0.00, totaling 0.00. Basically, they're giving us 15 items for free because they were damaged in a previous shipment. How on earth do I handle this on the VAT return? Do I list it under Section II 7. without input tax, or does it go under Section III 3., or both? And does this even need to be recorded in the VAT registry? Help me out here!
But it literally says right there in Article 17, sections 1 and 2. Plus, we already took delivery of the goods. The price was agreed upon as franco—meaning zero shipping costs—and there isn't even a mention of freight anywhere on the invoice.
So, we just got an invoice from a supplier over in Canada for some goods. It’s listed in USD. It claims a VAT exemption under Section 17, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Value Added Tax Act. Is this actually a legitimate acquisition? I'm a bit tripped up because the invoice is in USD (with no tax applied) and the payment is being sent to a bank account here in the States. I checked their info against the IRS database and everything looks fine there. Any ideas? Help a guy out!
stormyhound3 said:So, we realized today that we totally botched the sales tax calculation back in July for $45. We were so caught up in the acquisition chaos that everything else just slipped through the cracks, I guess. I'm seeing people on the forums say you can just file an amended return and pay the $45 difference. But what about interest? Who even handles that part? Anyone here dealt with this before?
Just call up the IRS, send over the amended form with a quick explanation, and pay the gap—easy as that. As for the interest, it’ll just show up on your online tax account, then you pay it when you're ready.
I'm trying to file my VAT return and I'm getting an error saying a supplier from Italy doesn't have a valid VAT ID. But when I go to check them in the VIES database, everything looks totally fine. Can I just ignore the warning and send the return anyway? Or am I stuck? What's the move here? Help me out!!
We had an intra-community acquisition on July 25th. The invoice from the Canadian carrier is dated August 7th, but the actual service was performed back on July 25th. Should this transport invoice be reported in the VAT return for July or August? And am I supposed to use the Federal Reserve exchange rate from July 25th or August 7th?
