Kenneth Scott41, listen, I’m dealing with a heavy mix of major depression, social anxiety, panic disorder, you name it...
I actually manage to keep all that chaos under control using Effexor XR 150 mg plus Sulpiride 200 mg.
Right now, things are a bit rough—I'm unemployed and living with my parents, who honestly can't stand being around me. I've already submitted my paperwork for some small business grants, so fingers crossed I can finally open my own little coffee shop. It's funny, because whenever I'm working my tail off 24/7, all these issues and the stress just... vanish. I function perfectly fine when I'm busy.
But lately? I’ve spent the last four days curled up in fetal position in bed, only getting up every few hours just to step outside for a cigarette.
I think it's time I go see a local psychiatrist here in town.

I have been using Q Pin for quite some time now, and frankly, it has always met my expectations perfectly. However, I’ve run into a bit of a conundrum recently. After finishing the supply I purchased back in June, I went out and picked up another round this December, only to find that the medication feels entirely different. I even went so far as to request the exact same lot number to ensure consistency, yet it simply doesn't seem to have the same effect on me as the previous batch did. Has anyone else encountered something similar? Regarding my tolerance levels, I still have a few stray pills left over from my previous supply; if I take those five older tablets before moving on to the new ones, the transition is absolutely miserable. To make matters more confusing, the price of the medication dropped by about five or six dollars over the last six months—could such a shift in pricing somehow indicate a change in the formula or manufacturing process? I would truly appreciate any insights you might have.

Just call your psychiatrist and ask them. Go see them.

Ever since I started taking Paxil, I haven’t been able to function at all, let alone sleep—I just exist in this constant state of brain fog.

And honestly, I don't get the whole "you're too young for this" attitude from doctors. Being sick isn't an age thing; we can't sleep, we're struggling, and we have every right to ask for actual insomnia medication that works.

I woke up five times last night. At this point, I'm not even going to bother trying. It’s worse than having a newborn...

Back when I was living on my own, I just took 10 mg of Ambien twice and a 0.5 Helex, and I was perfectly happy and actually rested every single day.

I swear, my environment is just draining the life out of me.

Yesterday, I was looking for work down in Miami (even though I'm currently stuck out in rural Ohio).

I'm guessing the lack of sunlight is triggering my anxiety and depression, especially on top of all the family drama...

Kenneth Scott41 said:I’m sorry you’re going through such a hard time. I went through a similar stretch a while back where sleep was just... impossible, no matter what I did. I’ve tried most of the same medications you mentioned, and if I had to say, Ambien was the best for me.👍
It always manages to knock me out. But if even that doesn't work for you, well... I remember this old antipsychotic called Prazina, I think it comes in a red 100mg pill. If you try that, I’d bet anything you’ll sleep like a baby, without fail.😉

Prazosin did absolutely nothing for me. It felt like swallowing a Tic Tac. Total bust. Zero stars, nothing happened.

Real talk.
At this point, even tossing back 3 or 4 Sanval pills along with 4 Xanax doesn't do squat for me (it’s basically like taking nothing). I tried adding a 10 mg Normabel to the mix; sure, I finally knocked out, but here I am wide awake at 4:30 in the morning...

I gave Ambien a shot too, but I need two of those just to feel anything, and even then, I'm waking up way too early.

Then there was the Cerson—I took two of those and actually slept through the night, so I’ll probably have to ask my psychiatrist if I can stick with that or if there's something even heavier out there.

Basically, I’m drugging myself like a total maniac just to get some shut-eye, because doing this "naturally" is a complete joke.
Prozac was absolutely useless for me—literally felt like swallowing a Tic Tac. Zero effect.

So now I'm just sitting here having taken some Xanax SR, 2 or 3 Sanval, 3 or 4 Xanax, and a Normabel, just waiting for my appointment with the psychiatrist.

Man, I hear you. I've been in the same boat. There were times I practically cleared out an entire box of Valium, it was ridiculous.

Back when I was living and working on the coast, all I needed was 2 Sanval and 2 Xanax to feel like a brand new person. But ever since I moved to this depressing, soul-crushing part of the Midwest, sleep has been non-existent.

I totally feel for you. If anyone heads out to pick up a new prescription before I do, let me know...

I’ve personally come to realize that having a little drink here and there isn't going to hurt anyone

I mean, I can actually sip my cocktails like a total class act, finish them down, and just be perfectly chill...

A moderate, controlled amount of alcohol shouldn't be the end of the world for anyone, nor should it leave any major lasting damage

Just speaking from my own experience

😁

hehe, just another classic side effect of Effexor...

honestly, my liver feels about the same way whenever I knock back five beers, haha

I was taking Normabrel three times a day during my pregnancy, and honestly, once I stopped, it felt like nothing had even happened. Now, I’m just popping Ativan whenever I need to, and I’ll admit, I’ve started overdoing it because my life is basically a nightmare right now... constant anxiety, this heavy cloud of depression dragging me down everywhere I go.
I actually had a neurologist prescribe those little green pills once because I was dealing with some neck issues. Look, the doses you're on aren't even that high; I was on much heavier stuff. You should totally be upfront with him about what you told us—tell him straight out that you're worried about getting hooked and that you don't want him messing with your meds. If Seroquel isn't doing the trick, there's a whole mountain of milder antidepressants out there that could help you taper off the Normabrel for good. Make him explain himself, too—ask him clearly why he keeps pushing those specific ones. They aren't always a necessity; most people can manage just fine with a standard antidepressant.
Just don't be intimidated. He's literally there to support you and listen to what's going on in your head. There's really no reason to feel like you're walking on eggshells around him.

I don't know where you're coming from, but honestly, things like this just have to be fixed...
I totally misspoke in my last post—my doctor actually told me that if my kid keeps coming home in tears after seeing their psychiatrist every single time, then we seriously need to switch providers.
I used to see this amazing psychologist in San Francisco, but then a few years down the line, I tried seeing some doctor out in San Diego. Turns out that guy was useless; he had zero time for anyone and a months-long waiting list, so I ended up seeing this lady in San Diego with the massive hair instead. She bumped up my dosage and ever since then, I've been doing great. DM me for her name.

Find an alternative.
Or just vent and dump everything you're feeling right here.
Tell them straight up that it isn't meeting your needs; I once had a doctor tell me that if a kid is outgrowing their psychiatrist, it’s officially time to find someone new...

Lisa Myers said:So, did you actually have an increased appetite or not? 🤣

From your post, I gather that you did, even if you weren't eating much. Basically, you're saying the pills caused the weight gain, not the food?

honestly, my appetite didn't even spike. once I noticed the scale creeping up, I basically stopped eating entirely... I was literally starving myself.
And yeah, the meds definitely caused the weight gain.
Because the second I switched over to Velafax or Cipralex—I can't even remember which one it was—I just wasted away. I dropped like 55 pounds in just a few months!
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, back when I was on a cocktail of Prozac, Ludiomil, and Sulpiride, I ended up packing on about 55 pounds.
I actually went to my doctor specifically to get off the Sulpiride because I was gaining weight like crazy—I hit over 175 pounds easy.
She told me the culprit was probably the Ludiomil, so she pulled both the Ludiomil and the Prozac, kept the Sulpiride, and swapped in some Wellbutrin instead... and within three days, I could practically feel myself shrinking.
Don't even get me started on how I spent months starving myself, living on maybe one apple or a tiny bowl of muesli a day. I was hungry as hell, but I kept gaining weight, and it was clearly the meds doing it. My appetite hadn't even spiked.
Anyway, just sharing my experience...
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
I actually dropped some weight while I was on Lexapro, and then again once I switched over to Effexor

We’re talking about a solid 55 pounds that I lost after those damn doctors put me on Anafranil and Ladiomil... honestly, they can take them straight to hell

Look, redcrane22, just because I had a rough time doesn't mean you're headed for the same disaster. Honestly, I went through about 10 to 15 different antidepressants before I finally found "the one" that actually worked for me.
For me, the combo of Effexor XR 150 mg and Dogmatil 200 is absolute perfection.
I personally know people who swear by Calixta, too.
At the end of the day, you just have to hunt until you find the right fit.
Don't sweat it...
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Honestly, Calixta just had me completely wiped out... I was basically a zombie, sleeping through half my life 24/7. It definitely wasn't the right move for me.
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
I’m mixing Effexor XR with Sulpiride 200 mg, and honestly, I’m finally functioning like a normal human being...
A lot of people—and I mean a ton of people—end up on these kinds of med combos.

I basically checked myself into a hotel room just to pass out from the Cerson😢

hiddenwalker30 said:My psychiatrist just put me on a regimen of half a Zyprexa pill daily along with some Diazepam. Since I’m starting this today, I was wondering if anyone here has firsthand experience with these? Any particular side effects I should be looking out for?

Look, you can always check the fine print on the pharmacy printout, but honestly, everyone reacts to meds differently. Don't let the anxiety get to you about starting them—they were prescribed for a reason, so just take it one step at a time...

My gums felt like absolute nothing—seriously, zero sensation, just total numbness... Like I was chewing on Tic Tacs or something. For sleep, I usually go with either 20mg of Ambien or 30mg of Lunesta. And yeah, obviously I end up inhaling everything in sight every single night, but honestly? I have no clue I’ve even eaten until I start finding crumbs and leftovers everywhere the next morning, haha
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Ugh, honestly... switching from Anafranil and Ladiomil caused me to pack on 25 pounds in just a few months, and
now that I'm on Cipralex and Effexor XR, I've lost it all and am basically skin and bones🙂
