Project: Find a Friend (Classifieds / Meetup Thread) in Psychology & Therapy ·
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for someone who might (maybe) become a friend down the road—someone who doesn't already know my whole life story, obviously, which is why I’m even here 😁 .
I'm 23, and honestly, I'd much rather dive into deep topics than suffer through boring small talk about the weather or "how's it going." We can talk about you, me, the state of the world... whatever. It doesn't really matter. 🙂
Just a heads-up: I'm a bit complicated and pretty private. I'm big into indie rock, though I don't mind some heavier stuff too. I love books and I'm a huge film buff. I also write and draw. Oh, and I'm vegetarian and a massive animal lover.
So, yeah. If anyone feels brave enough to handle all that, hit me up 🙂 .

I really regret not just telling my doctor I wanted to stop taking it after those first 10 pounds came off. Instead, I sat around waiting to pack on weight like crazy, only to go in later and complain about how much I hated the side effects.😁 It’s just weird, though... I keep hearing stories from people who seemed to drop the weight effortlessly right after, while I’ve been struggling with this for over a year now.

Don't feel bad about it! 😁 When I was on Zyprexa, I felt like even breathing the air made me gain fat. 😁

I’ve been on it for almost a year now and I am eating way too much. Honestly, I probably need to go on a diet. 😵
I don't really think it affects appetite that much; from what I've heard, Zyprexa is actually the culprit behind my weight gain. 🤷

For me, Lamal didn't touch my appetite at all, and neither does the Zyprexa I'm on right now. But I guess everyone reacts differently. Personally, Zyprexa packed on 65 pounds on me in just a few months. Seems like I'm not the only one dealing with this... 😁

What's your actual diagnosis? Like, which DSM code are we talking about?

I've got three. F60.3 is basically the "final boss"—emotionally unstable personality disorder. But they also have me locked in with F31—bipolar disorder—and F25—schizoaffective disorder...

Hey everyone, I know I’ve posted on this thread before, but I have a quick question for you all. I'm really curious to hear your general thoughts and experiences on this.
Ladiomil, Prozac, Leponex, Prazina, normabel. So, what do you guys think about this specific combo? What can actually be inferred from a list like that? Honestly, my gut feeling is that my psychiatrist has absolutely no clue what they're doing with me anymore... 😁
It feels like every single check-up results in a total overhaul of my meds. Based on our sessions, the doctor has decided I have Borderline Personality Disorder and severe depression.
I've been cycling through different prescriptions for years now. At this point, I can't even keep track of what I've taken versus what I haven't, and nothing seems to be working...
So, looking at this combination of drugs, is it actually normal that such a heavy load isn't helping me at all?
Look, I’m no doctor, so take this with a grain of salt. This is just my own experience, and yours might be completely different. 🙂

I dealt with cysts in both of my sinuses—they were totally blocked up. It left me feeling exhausted, and I’d get these dizzy spells or killer headaches out of nowhere. Eventually, those cysts started putting on a lot of pressure. My doctor steered me away from doing a puncture (not sure why, honestly) and instead had me go through various drainage procedures and other treatments. The thing is, if your sinuses are plugged up and you can't breathe through your nose—if that's even what's happening with you—you end up breathing through your mouth constantly. That just leaves you feeling winded and wiped out.
It’s definitely possible your sinuses are the culprit, but if I were in your shoes, I'd just run whatever tests your doctor suggests. It’s not like it hurts to know... and it might actually help. 🙂
Thanks for all the input. 🙂

I’ll take care of myself and get my thyroid levels checked. I just got a little worried that there might be something more serious going on behind all these symptoms...
Just got my bloodwork back. Since I can't make it to see my primary care doctor just yet, I figured I’d post the results that fell outside the normal ranges here. Maybe someone can weigh in 🙂

My CBC, sedimentation rate, and coagulation panel (PT, INR, APTT, fibrinogen) all look fine.

AST - 35
ALT - 38
CK-NAC Activated - 174
GGT - 67
Alkaline phosphatase - 38
Uric acid - 395
Triglycerides - 2.03
Cholesterol - 5.23
LDL Cholesterol - 3.87
Sodium - 135
CRP - 8.8

There it is. 🙂

Adding to everything Nicholas Myers already mentioned:

- Any past musculoskeletal injuries (especially the spine)—dizziness, numbness, etc.
- Degenerative spinal changes (maybe occupational?) ...
- Thyroid hormone levels?
- Exactly which medications—certain antipsychotics or antidepressants can cause a "critical" drop in RR compared to what the body was used to for years. It would be incredibly helpful to know her previous RR readings versus what they are now. Keeping an RR log and making sure to measure it right when symptoms hit would be huge. Has she done an RR Holter monitor yet?
- Avoid standing up too fast, especially after lying down.
- How much weight gain are we talking about, and did it happen right after starting the antipsychotics or antidepressants?
- Did a significant drop in physical activity happen just before these symptoms started?

Start with those 😉

No musculoskeletal injuries.
I've never had my thyroid checked.
Currently taking Velafax XL, Leponex, Prazina, and normabel.
I gained weight after being on Zyprexa for a while—about 77 pounds in just a few months.
Maria Fisher46 said:Could you go into more detail about when the bluish tint in your limbs and lips actually shows up? Are there any specific triggers—like being out in the cold, emotional stress, or maybe just physical exertion?

Does the paleness happen right before the blue tint sets in, and do you feel any pain when your fingers and lips change color?

If you were to dip your hands in cold water, would they turn blue then?

How’s your general fitness level? How many flights of stairs can you climb before getting winded? Do you find yourself short of breath during certain activities?

Have you ever dealt with skin rashes, swollen or painful joints, or noticed if your fingers look unusually shaped?

Ever had swelling in your lower legs?

What kind of tachycardia are we talking about here? What’s the heart rate looking like, and is this rapid rhythm constant or just occasional...

Any coughing?

I'll start from the beginning and try to answer everything.
I've noticed the blue tint mostly happens when I'm exerting myself. Though, sometimes it just happens for no apparent reason...
The paleness does show up, but there's no pain, unless my limbs start going numb.

My hands don't turn blue in cold water. 🙂
As for fitness, it's pretty much non-existent. I get winded with basically any real effort, but I guess that's just become my "new normal" since I put on some weight.
I deal with skin rashes quite often and am currently being treated for them; the diagnosis is dyshidrosis.

My lower legs don't swell, but I do get these occasional sharp stabs, sort of like a bee sting.
Tachycardia... hmm, let's say around 90 beats per minute.
No coughing.
I had some bloodwork done about two months ago, and for the most part, everything looked fine. (Except for my white blood cell count, which was high because of some inflammation)
The thing is, I just can't work out without breaking out in a full-blown sweat 😁 (like I mentioned in my first post). To me, the whole sensation feels less like exercise and more like I'm suddenly suffocating from a lack of oxygen...
My cholesterol is creeping up a bit, though I’m pretty sure my recent weight gain is what's really hammering my liver. Gaining weight that fast is a massive shock to the system...

As for my blood pressure, it stays mostly steady. It dips a little here and there, or spikes slightly, but nothing too wild...

And yeah, I did wonder if it was my diet, but it’s not like I’m starving myself or skipping meals...
I couldn't find an existing thread where I could vent about my issues, so I figured I'd just start a new one (if the mods think there’s already a spot for this, feel free to move 🙂 )

So, here’s the deal. This all started recently. I'm dealing with constant fatigue and zero energy. Every now and then, my mouth and limbs go numb, and my legs frequently feel tingly or lifeless. I’m on a few medications—antidepressants and antipsychotics—but none of this shows up in the side effects list for them.
I’ve also been gaining weight lately, though I'm dieting now. I assume my weight plays a role, but I don't get why everything hit me all at once like this...
I get these frequent dizzy spells whenever I, say, stand up from a chair, and my vision just goes dark; I actually have to grab onto something so I don't collapse.
On top of that, I've noticed a constant, slight racing of my heart.
If it’s even relevant, I recently had blood work done for liver enzymes, and they were slightly elevated. They tested me for Hepatitis B and C, but those came back negative. I also had an abdominal ultrasound, which was mostly fine, except for some minor lesions on my liver that my doctor said were likely just a result of the medications I'm taking.

Does anyone have any advice on what this might be? I'm planning to see my doctor, obviously, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Has anyone dealt with anything similar? What kind of tests should I expect to undergo?

Question for the veterans here 🙂
I've been on Effexor XR at 75mg for a few weeks now. It actually felt great at first, but lately, it feels like it's doing absolutely nothing. I'm definitely not looking to mess with my dosage on my own, but I was wondering... is it actually possible to build up a "tolerance" to such a small dose after just a few weeks?...
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, I just switched to a new antidepressant since the last one (Celexa) didn't do a single thing for me.
It's Venlafaxine XL. 75mg in the morning.
I've been on it for about a week now, and honestly, I think I might be feeling slightly better.
Now for the big question: is it actually starting to kick in already, or am I just experiencing a placebo effect because I'm desperately hoping it works?
Also, for those of you who have taken this, is it normal for it to kill your appetite? I haven't felt hungry at all—I just don't feel any urge to eat. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering if it's the medication or something else...
How long does an Administration - Referral actually stay valid for seeing a specialist? Thanks 🙂

Jason Vaughn482 said:What was your peak dosage with Misar, and more importantly, how did you navigate the exit strategy? I’ve been relying on Xanax for a few years now, and while it still manages to do the job, I’m haunted by the thought of how grueling the eventual withdrawal might be. Currently, I’m hovering between 1 to 1.5 mg daily, depending on how hard the panic or anxiety hits. I try to start other things and quit them quickly, and while I recognize that AD meds are the superior long-term play, I honestly don't know if I have the stomach to endure those brutal adjustment periods again.

And yeah, it was a mess. I used to pull up to 5 pills at a time (the 1 mg ones). It hit me with this massive depression, I was sweating constantly, and there were a few other weird side effects I can't quite pin down if they were from the withdrawal or something else...

Sure, they might provide some relief now, but it won't last. By cranking up the dose, you are doing direct damage to your own body.
Both the psychiatrist and the doctor explicitly recommended 10 mg, once or twice a day—not just shoveling them down whenever you feel like it!
You will develop a dependency incredibly fast. Normabagel is a tricky medication, and after a while, it simply won't work the way you expect it to.

I get that addiction is a real risk, but I often find myself in situations where absolutely nothing else can calm me down. I’ve tried taking two Lexapros a couple of times when I didn't have any Normabagel on hand, and it worked, but I’m not sure how smart that is...

And I know all too well that Normabagel can stop working, too. That’s exactly what happened with the Meyer I was on before. I started at 0.25, moved to 0.5, then went to 1mg. Then it was one, two, three pills... and suddenly, it just stopped calming me down. It stopped working entirely. So, my psychiatrist just switched me straight to Normabagel at 10mg...
