Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
Elizabeth Wells2 said:Does anyone know how much sick pay you actually get if a doctor puts you on mandatory isolation? How does the process work? Do you file a claim through Medicare, and what’s the payout look like?

I've been ordered into isolation for 24 days.

Once you have an official quarantine code, they're supposed to take your average earnings from the last six months and pay you at 100%. However, there's a bit of a "catch" in the Social Security Administration regulations that messes with that logic; regardless of your actual average, the SSA caps the monthly payout at $1419.
A friend of mine was in quarantine for 10 days, and his average pay was $2400. His employer paid him the prorated amount for the days he actually worked. But instead of getting his full average from the Social Security Administration for the isolation period, he only got a prorated slice of that maximum cap they issue. In the end, he actually lost about $500-$200.

I actually asked my doctor why they’re quoting twenty days. According to his explanation, Dad gets ten days, and then I get an additional ten days once his period ends because we share the same household... I know at least seven friends who were in this exact same situation and only received ten days, which is why I decided to ask. However, none of them are seeing the same doctor I am.

Hi everyone, my dad just tested positive for COVID today. I contacted my doctor immediately and was told I need to quarantine for 20 days. I don't have any symptoms at all. I’m honestly confused about why it's 20 days, though... because every single person I know who was either a close contact or living in the same house with an infected person ended up getting a 10-day isolation period. Is this some new guideline, or does every doctor just interpret the rules however they want?

I’m not really an expert when it comes to credit cards; I generally prefer sticking to the cash I actually have on hand. Currently, I have a checking account over at JPMorgan Chase—mostly because they still don't charge me any fees—which came with a Visa debit card. I use it every once in a while. I don't have any regular direct deposits hitting that account; instead, I just head down to a local branch and deposit whatever amount I think I'll need for the upcoming period. As I understand it, I should only be able to spend exactly what is sitting in my balance. Or is it actually possible to go into a negative balance? A friend is insisting that I can definitely tap into some sort of overdraft, but I never requested one and I certainly don't want it. It makes no sense to me that I could run a deficit on an account I only use a few times a year and which doesn't have any steady income flowing into it. If anyone knows the answer, thanks in advance.

I couldn't manage to pull it off, and honestly, I have no idea why. So, I reached out to a buddy who just snagged his tickets for Section 4 without any trouble at all, and he's telling me there are still plenty of seats available.

I honestly cannot buy a ticket to save my life. I go through the entire process, select my Maestro card, hit that green "activate now" button, and every single time it just says transaction failed. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I’ve tried over ten times between yesterday and today, and it’s the exact same result every time...
