Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Here is my personal take on this whole pharmaceutical mess;
Over the last three years, they’ve cycled me through just about everything under the sun. From Prozac to Paxil—which I’m actually back on right now... though it was useless before, so let's see if it magically works this time?!—to Escitalopram and Valdoxan... the whole lot is garbage.
Then there’s Zyprexa, which I’m convinced wrecked me just as much as Depakote did....
Valium was a complete disaster. Clonazepam helped at first, sure, but eventually, it just made things worse.
And don't even get me started on Ativan; you get hooked on that before you know it. Right now, I’m using Xanax, which provides the tiniest bit of relief when things hit rock bottom. Not to mention those damn Klonopins that grab hold of you in a week, or the Apaches... or Ativan... everything seems somewhat effective initially, but they are nothing but traps! 😢 I can’t even remember all the other junk I’ve been forced to swallow, some kind of Opioid for sleep... absolute nightmare...
Ultimately, my conclusion is this: it’s all total crap!!!!! But unfortunately, we often lack the strength to pull ourselves out of the hole alone, through sheer "willpower," as people say... so we end up taking these "medications" which, judging by your experiences here, affect everyone differently anyway. Big Pharma is making a killing while they supposedly "treat" us, even as they make us sicker. It's a vicious cycle. They help here, they hurt there.
I’ve tried various alternative and natural routes too... homeopathy, for instance... but sadly, it didn't do much for me. So, there it is.
I feel hopeless, and I honestly don't know what the next step is. I'm struggling with a combination of depression, autoimmune issues, anxiety... and so on and so forth....
Wishing you all the very best of luck in finding a cure!!!!!

Is it considered a specific type of mental illness when someone is genuinely convinced they're being followed or stalked by someone else, even when there isn't actually any truth to it?

I actually deal with this myself... and I find myself asking that exact same question quite often. That feeling that everything revolves around you—that people are following you or spying on your every move.
I can't really offer much insight, other than saying it is an incredibly unsettling experience. It’s anything but pleasant. People often refer to it as some kind of schizophrenia... 🤦

How can one even tell? 🙄🐔

I feel like I’m being haunted by numbers... specifically certain ones. It’s honestly deeply unsettling, and I’ve reached a point where I don't even know what to believe anymore. To be perfectly blunt, I am terrified. 😢 And that isn't even the full extent of it... I struggle with depression, but now I’m paralyzed by the fear that this might actually be schizophrenia.

Thanks, restlesstiger49, and thanks for nothing... I know I can be incredibly difficult and negative sometimes. Honestly, maybe it’s better if I just stop posting here altogether so I don't end up dragging everyone else down with me. But really, thank you for the support.

I know I won't be attending... because I'm simply not feeling up to it. Honestly, I believe those who actually do show up aren't "bad" at all, given they have the energy to go out and socialize. Enjoy yourselves.

...and I still lack the backbone to face this, feeling old and completely screwed over... 😢 🤦

Thanks, Lawrence Bailey77. You’ve got a point there. But let me tell you, it’s easier said than done...

The past is constantly haunting me—it’s practically suffocating. To be honest, I feel like I’m still living in it, and I just can't seem to shake the weight of it. It’s creating an endless mountain of problems in my life. I know I was a good person at times... but then there were those other moments where I wasn't. If there were just some kind of pill that could wipe the slate clean and erase everything behind me... I truly believe I’d be fifty percent better off overnight!

Thanks!!!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. To be honest, I’m not even sure if I can muster the strength to make it out tomorrow... I really wish I could, but I am feeling absolutely terrible right now. I wouldn't want to show up and just ruin the mood for everyone else; that’s definitely not my intention. I don't know how much of a struggle you all deal with—whether it's depression, feeling hopeless, or dealing with illness—but I am truly struggling. That is the plain truth. I’m still trying to figure my way around this forum, too; I’ll try to figure out how to send a private message or maybe find someone's number to send a text... I don't want to post my own number here publicly, even though part of me wants to, because I genuinely want to connect with people who are going through similar battles. Out of curiosity, how many of you are actually coming? Are you all dealing with health issues, or are you all "struggling" mentally or what? Anyway... thanks for understanding. 👍

Hey everyone, here comes another heavy one...
I just joined the forum and wanted to drop in to say hello to you all. I see some of you are meeting up tomorrow—is it over at Central Park? I didn't get a chance to read through everything or actually meet anyone yet... how could you be so heartless? How are you all holding up? Honestly, I decided to join because I can't seem to find any real understanding anywhere else; even among my own friends, I’ve been labeled as the "crazy one." So, I'm hoping that maybe I can at least find a few virtual friends or a close confidante here. As for tomorrow, I’m not entirely sure if I’ll have the guts to actually show up... I don't even know the exact location. But anyway, here I am! I wish you all nothing but the best, and I hope you're doing okay—or at least feeling a little better than you do now.
