Aetna supplemental insurance in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Raymond Davis3 said:Hey everyone

Got a quick question... really hoping this is just some fake news. :-/
I heard a rumor that starting July 1st, Aetna won't be covering the Tier 2 drug list anymore??
Anyone know what's actually going on?

I can't find anything on their website and I'm too busy to call them right now... so figured I'd check here. Maybe one of you has the scoop.
Thanks in advance!

it's true 😵
The notices were already sent out to people who rely on those Tier 2 drugs 🙂

Huge losses on the Tier 2 list are the reason... they might only negotiate contracts without including the Tier 2 stuff

Charles Wright14 said:Is it actually possible to arrange basic auto insurance through a provider based outside of the US (for instance, in Canada) if the goal is to get registered with American license plates?

Nah, ☕
not really 😁
right now...
who knows what the laws might look like down the road, though...🍿

Medicare and the US government are the only ones where you can just use their card to cover things.
With everyone else, you're stuck paying out of pocket first and then waiting around for them to reimburse you... 🤦

James Rogers53 said:Just got a notice from my insurance provider saying they’ve updated their collision coverage terms—apparently, I have the option to switch over to the new ones if I want.
Does anyone actually know what the deal is here? I really don't feel like calling the agency; those conversations always drag on way longer than they need to.

Higher premiums... "new terms" is just fancy talk for "it costs more."😁

ironmoose6 said:That’s because a huge chunk of these claims are being settled through collision coverage. It’s just easier, cheaper, and avoids all the heavy questioning from the cops.

I wouldn't say that's quite how it works, 😒

The vast majority of cars on the road don't even carry full collision insurance 🙂
and since premiums are skyrocketing for everyone—mostly because we're losing money on more and more of those policies lately...

Basically, looks like we've got another brutal year ahead of us.🐔

Basically, the whole insurance industry is such a total circus right now that policyholders are pulling off absolute miracles 😵 that honestly seemed totally impossible just a little while ago 🐔

The rates have dropped so ridiculously low it’s actually insane—I can barely wrap my head around it, and it feels like there's no bottom in sight 🤔

Hannah Allen5 said:I'm just saying, in that specific scenario, the machine was bound to glitch. Of course, there are people (in the insurance industry) who use systems that automatically pull data, so an agent would probably end up making the exact same mistake—it actually happened to a colleague over at State Farm, where they pulled data from a previous policy in Florida, and they wouldn't let the car pass inspection because of the error.

As for the bonus, there are practically only two choices if you aren't trying to finalize a policy on the very last day. You either try to sort it out with your old insurer if you're thinking about switching, or you just stick with the old one (if you're short on time, that's really the only option left).

Regarding offering installment plans without coverage, you really need two things for that: significant capital and unlimited trust in people (because there are plenty of folks who, for good reason, can't manage credit card installments. If the bank doesn't trust them, why should I?)

I wouldn't go as far as saying "unlimited" trust, but yeah, there's definitely a level of faith involved. For those who don't play by the rules, there are legal ways to collect, though I'd much rather avoid that headache if possible. Honestly, I've been doing this for five full years now and haven't had a single person stiff me.😁😁😁
I'm not a bank, and I sure as hell don't want to be one. Trust is the backbone of any business, especially in insurance...

Just being upfront—I work for an insurance firm. But listen, I see myself as a consultant first and a salesperson second. I just wanted to point out that sometimes people grab the cheapest option upfront, only to realize later that it ended up costing them way more in the long run.☕

ironjackal2 said:I have no clue regarding what you wrote in point 2, 😁 but as for point 1—mistakes happen. Machines glitch too. Though, I'm betting a computer makes way fewer errors than a human being. 😁 😁 Even at a local agency, a salesperson could punch in the wrong VIN, and then what? It happens, damn it. Given how I live my life—always on the move, rushing through everything—I really don't have the patience to trek to an office, wait in lines, or hunt for parking unless it's absolutely necessary. Slowly but surely, we'll be able to do everything online. So far, my experience with online shopping has been solid, and for stuff that isn't trivial (but is still important, like insurance), I plan on doing it all digitally in the future. It saves time, and hopefully, money too. At the end of the day, time is the one thing you can't get back. There you go.

Of course there are people who think like that, but thankfully not many 😁 at least for now...
You can't do installment plans or credit without a card online (unless you're using money orders)
nor can you handle technical issues.
And you definitely won't get any help when damage actually occurs. Sure, third-party liability insurance is mandatory, but people still call me when they run into problems with their other coverage...

Basically, if you don't have a policy through me, you're on your own. 😁 🍿 In theory, if I'm not being petty, if they didn't sign up with me, they don't really have a leg to stand on when they want help.🥱☕

Doubtful, honestly.🤦

Scott Barrett43 said:It’s been a massive disappointment dealing with State Farm—even after winning my court case, they still haven't coughed up the money. It was a similar headache when I dealt with GEICO, too.
The trick is to pay as little as possible, because these big insurance giants are nothing more than glorified scammers. They’ll promise you the moon just to pad their numbers and get you signed up... but once they have your cash in hand and something actually goes wrong? Good luck—you'll be left chasing them in circles.

I mean, we all saw this coming... premiums dropped but the overhead stayed right where it was.🤔
It's gonna be way harder to collect on a claim now, and if you actually manage to win one, you can bet the payout will be smaller than before.☕

Mark Harris31 said:Along with my car insurance, I got this extra policy that covers things like hail, floods, fire, and stuff like that.
It only kicks in when the car is parked, though. It’s through Geico, if that matters.
What does that actually mean in practice? Like, if I'm sitting at a red light and a hailstorm starts hitting, am I covered because I'm technically stopped, even if I have a green light coming up next? Or am I only protected if I'm fully parked?😁

That sounds like some budget mini-comprehensive coverage right there.😁 Ahahahahah, genius idea.🙏 These policyholders are getting way too smart for their own good.🙏😁

Robin Jones2 said:I recall my insurance details clearly enough, and as for the registration, I am certain I have a photo stored somewhere that shows the numbers.

Once you handle the registration, you can usually track down where the insurance info ended up. If you can't find a digital copy or a photo, just head down to the local police station. If you've already deregistered the car or sold it, they’ll have everything on file... They can give you a confirmation and charge you the fee.$13 😉

You can almost always get that old 50% credit applied at nearly any Geico or similar provider without any issues.😁

urbanharbor95 said:Yeah, I think that works for coastal areas too—so I’m guessing Aetna probably does the same thing.
Also, starting this month, insurance companies here in the States have updated their terms. Basically, if there's one car in the family covered at 50%, everyone else can grab a 25% discount right off the bat. Before this change, it was just limited to spouses, but now... I guess sons and daughters can get in on it too.

Like my buddy said—the circus just keeps getting bigger, especially when you try to fix the bonus situation legally.😵
It's Never been like this... 👎 🤦

Apparently, Allstate doesn't have any limits 😉

As for me, I just pushed through a policy with Hercules that’s twelve years old 😁 totally no big deal...

I'm thinking about picking up some collision coverage from them, if you know what I mean.

Just make sure you go for full coverage with zero deductible🙂

Nicole Nelson6 said:Honestly, just forget the study guides. There's a list of questions you can use. I just studied directly from the law and somehow managed to pass...

Wait, where is this list of questions? 🙂
Screw the study guides, half the answers in them are straight-up wrong anyway 🙂

Guess I’m gonna have to grind through the actual law too. Man, what a headache $367 😠🙂🙂🙂

I mean, I can't just sit here and stay quiet...
Look, I’m not out here defending Atlantic; honestly, they’re my favorite competition 😁 but let's be real—they were dumping bonuses. It happens. I personally saw piles of State Farm shelves marked down by 50%. So what? 😛

There’s this new loyalty program rolling around now, and man, it is top-tier. The commercials pretty much spell it all out 😁😁😁

Hannah Reed3 said:I picked up my GEICO policy through Kompass back on March 13, 2014. I had the confirmation email in my inbox the same day—enough to get me on the road immediately—and the hard copy arrived by mail the very next day. Truly impressive service.
It actually ended up being cheaper $127 than what I paid Euroheart last year.

The only reason is you didn't check with Herc😁

Look, let’s be real—crazy stuff happens everywhere, and scammers are lurking on every street corner...

That’s why you really want to make sure you’ve got someone in your corner who isn't going to screw you over... I mean, for basic liability coverage, whatever, you can just go through the big guys. But when it comes to comprehensive or anything else? You need a person you actually trust. Honestly? Trust a human being, not some massive insurance corporation.🙂

If this is actually the quote from General Motors for NYC plates, then honestly, that price is an absolute steal 🙂
