Just head over to the submitted forms section—you should see a little blue icon to attach files. Hope that helps.

Perhaps I could simply include the specific account number in the notes section to be thorough?

The tax form alone should be plenty.

Samuel Sanders8 said:Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here might be able to lend me a hand...

The thing is, whenever I try to digitally sign my retirement application, I keep getting hit with this error message:

An error occurred while retrieving information about cryptographic devices

Basically, the system can't find the device at all (I'm using a Thales USB token provided by the IRS)

It’s strange because when I filed my last application about a month ago, everything worked perfectly and the signing process went through without a hitch. I haven't changed anything on my computer since then, other than updating Java, so I'm really stumped as to what could be causing this... thanks in advance if anyone has run into a similar issue.

Have you tried using Chrome?
It’s always worked great for me!
It usually just "grabs" everything from the stick without all those annoying Java headaches.

Does anyone know how the hell I can attach files to the DOH form through the IRS portal?
I’ve got birth certificates and a bunch of other paperwork I need to upload, but the system isn't making it obvious at all—how do I actually do this?

thanks

Once you've signed and sent the DOH, just head over to your sent forms—look for the little green or blue checkbox, and there should be an option to attach documents in the dropdown menu. It’s gotta be a PDF, though.

Hey there, I have a quick question about sales tax.
So, my small business is registered for sales tax. We're looking at picking up some equipment from a supplier over in Canada—let's say it's worth roughly $3.25.
I was wondering how the tax situation works here—do we pay their local tax, or is it more about how we handle the US sales tax on the purchase? Thanks!

When I was working on those 2016 tax returns—now we have to use the updated rates (24% and 36%), right? Maybe?

If a "fresh" small business owner (not on a flat tax setup) gets some self-employment grants from the IRS ($8.25) like they did back in 2016, does that money count as taxable income? Like, does it actually get factored into their income tax calculation?

It doesn't—just make sure you attach the contract from the IRS and the statements. Best,

Are we calculating these things in pennies now? 🙂

Brandon Jackson4 said:Carol Price4, I saw you mention that the contributions for December 2016—which we pay this January—are still based on the old calculation method,
whereas the payments for January 2017, due in February, will follow the new rules (the ones where the amount is lower)
.
Does that change apply strictly to sole proprietors, or does it affect regular employees too?
Will employees see the new rates applied starting immediately in January?

Thanks,

Employees switch immediately—assuming they're getting paid in January. That includes the new deductions and minimum wage adjustments.

Rachel Allen21 said:I was wondering—does anyone know if the new base rates for self-employment tax calculations have been officially released yet?

They did lower them—I'm just trying to figure out if the payments for December 2016 are being calculated using the old rules or the new ones... I guess it's a bit confusing.

Any updates on the new income tax brackets? Did they actually drop them? I guess we'll see.

Brenda Chase3 said:1. To be honest, you never actually submitted the entire KPI unless an auditor specifically asked for it later; it was always just a summary of receipts and expenses. Think of this new P-PPI as essentially being that same kind of summary.
2. I actually handled my own payments and successfully sent off my Jopp today. HOWEVER—do yourself a favor and download today's updated version of Synapse. They had a few bugs in there; for instance, in my previous version, the employment contribution wasn't pulling into the XML format correctly, even though the screen showed it was entered and it appeared on the form itself. Once I pulled the latest update today, everything worked perfectly.

Got mine working! Just wondering what you guys put under the contractor working hours—and does that cover the other months too?
Thanks

Brenda Chase3 said:Man, I really hope someone weighs in here. About a year ago, I was practically knocking on every door asking if there was a limit on cash transactions within the EU, and nobody could give me a straight answer. Some people insisted the rules applied one way $1667 ,while others claimed they didn't apply at all. By the time the dust settled, my client had backed out of the deal anyway, so I dropped it. It would be great if someone who has actually dealt with this firsthand could provide some clarity.

Thanks, 🙂
Does it matter if I'm buying from an individual or a corporation overseas?
Where can I even find the actual laws regarding these limits—is it even safe $1667, gosh..
Who am I even supposed to ask..

Got a new question for you. 🙂
I'm thinking about buying a car abroad (over in Germany) using cash—which I'd pull from the business account—and then putting the car under the company name.
Is there a specific limit or cap on how large a cash receipt can be for it to be valid—you know, for business expense justification—or is there anything else I should probably know before I go through with this?
Thanks!

Quick question,
so, I'm thinking about heading out of state—maybe over to Germany—to buy a car with cash (which I'd pull from my business account) and then putting it under the company's name.
Is there actually a cap on how large a cash transaction can be before it becomes an issue for accounting or justifying the expense to the IRS? Just wondering if there's anything I should watch out for before I pull the trigger.
Thanks!

1. So, regarding the income tax filing—do we skip the KPI stuff entirely now and just submit the new P-PPI form?
2. Has anyone here used Synesis to calculate self-employment contributions with a February 15th effective date and then tried running a Joppd? I’ve entered everything, but every time I try to save the Joppd, it just throws an error at me...
Tnx

1. So, regarding the tax return for sole proprietors—are we done with the old KPI filings? Is it just the new N/A form now?
2. Does that island job retention credit actually count toward my receipts?
3. What’s the deal with the historical preservation rent?
4. Has anyone here used Accenture and tried calculating self-employment contributions with a February 15th date while attempting the N/A? I’ve entered everything, but whenever I try to save the N/A, it just throws an error at me...
Tnx

So, I just installed the new business module in Synapse—it’s got this PPI form, though I don't really see the point since it looks identical to the old recap.kpi, but whatever...
I tried plugging in all the owner info and tax codes to run a test JOPPD for January's contributions—set for February 15th—just to see how it handles, but whenever I try to save the file once it opens, I keep getting an "invalid control number" error..
Any idea where I'm messing up?
