ironcyclist58 said:If it’s gonna run me $10, I might as well just go with the Chase co-branded card.

The real question is—what's actually going to be the difference between the Aircash MC and the Sportcard MC to make those $10 worth it?

Maybe they'll let you pull cash from ATMs here in the States. But if that isn't part of the deal, then the free Sportcard MC makes way more sense, just like you said.

Starting August 31st, they’re pulling the plug on the rewards program for the Walmart Mastercard. Then, come October 15th, they’re rolling out this new single Bank of America Mastercard—no monthly fees, whether you’re using it for straight charges or revolving credit.

I guess that reward coupon you got was calculated based on these rules, right...?

Based on this—if I'm reading it right—they do a calculation every three months. For revolving cards and shopping at Walmart, the cashback is 1.33%, whereas everything else outside of Walmart ends up being just 0.40%.

So, they finally rolled out the new online banking interface... has anyone actually tried it yet? I’d love to hear if it's any good or just more of the same.

Brandon Harris48 said:Does anyone know when they actually approve the Mozart installment plan? Someone mentioned that once you have three paychecks hit your account, the approval happens automatically. I just had my third paycheck land this month, but I haven't seen anything yet (checked both online banking and at the ATM today).

Also... they finally let me install the new mobile banking app, and honestly, it seems pretty solid so far.

One of the new features is the instant display of card authorizations. It shows up as "pending" as soon as you click into the transaction. You don't have to wait two or three days for them to post it like you did with the old app—though the total balance would decrease immediately, it was always a bit clunky if you had a lot of transactions and couldn't remember exactly what you'd spent money on.

Another thing I noticed is that you can upload payment codes directly from your photo gallery, which is a nice touch! It looks like they might actually be getting things right for once. 🙂

If I remember your previous posts correctly, you used to be with Goldman Sachs—how does their new mobile banking stack up against this one?

And are they rolling out a new online banking portal alongside this? Based on the app description in the App Store, they mention access to "unified digital banking," which sounds like a fancy way of saying new web banking.

So, basically, it's something similar to Bank of America or Goldman Sachs.

What’s everyone’s general experience with them—and I mean besides just the app?

If you just went by the reviews on the Apple Store, you'd think they were terrible, but then again... people on this forum seem pretty satisfied with them, right? Or am I missing something?

Zachary Ward5 said:Yo, does anyone here actually have a checking account at this bank? I noticed they aren't charging any monthly maintenance fees, which is huge because my Wells Fargo just started hitting me with all these ridiculous service charges $1.75.
Does this account come with a debit card or what?
The way their website is set up, it looks like you can only pull cash out at a branch location—does that mean there isn't even a card included?

That’s a non-card account. You just set up an automatic transfer ($0.67) to move money over to your main checking account—one less card to lose, plus you're paying way less than what Wells Fargo is charging you right now.
I think they include free SMS alerts too, so you can stay on top of your balance changes.

Personally, I think a setup like this is pretty smart if you're just using auto-transfers to feed your primary account, especially since most major banks charge way more per month than $0.67 what you'd need to keep in there for this combo to work.

Or, you could just open a Smart Financial account which is free. But in your situation, you'd probably have to close out all your current stuff at Wells Fargo first.

If I'm reading this right, you could just opt for a dedicated card reader or maybe an mtoken—there's a one-time fee involved, like $100 for the reader or $17 for the token—which would basically be an alternative to using mobile banking.
You should probably check out the fee schedule on their website to be sure.

Edward Evans7 said:Is anyone here actually using the JPMorgan Chase online banking platform?

What’s the verdict—is it any good, or am I wasting my time? Specifically, can you see your Walmart card linked through the interface?

I’m seriously considering signing up, and it looks decent enough so far. However, I’ve decided I want a physical Gemalto token; I have absolutely no interest in those mobile app tokens. I just don't trust them. I currently manage digital accounts across almost every major institution I deal with—New York City banks, Citigroup, Chase Online, E*TRADE, Altria, The Mint, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Capital One—and I insist on having a physical hardware token for every single one of them.

How does that specific token actually work? Do you have to insert the card into it or something?

Or does it just spit out a code and call it a day?

Since you clearly have access to all those different platforms, which one do you actually think has the best interface? Like, what makes one stand out from the rest in your opinion?

Edward Evans7 said:Sure you can. You just get a payment slip and a barcode sent to you, but keep in mind you’re required to cover at least 5%.

The statement usually shows up around the 8th, and you really ought to have it settled by the 10th. Though, honestly, they aren't exactly aggressive about it—last month mine didn't arrive until the 11th, and I just handled it that same day.

Oh, one more thing—every time you get a statement, they throw in a coupon for 10% off at Walmart. That goes toward basically everything they carry.

Is tracking your spending or balance only possible through their mobile banking app? Or is there some kind of SMS service or transaction notification available?

If you're looking at those reward points, then for a revolving card and anything spent outside of Walmart, it ends up being like 0.4% via those reward coupons—which isn't actually terrible, I guess. It’s kind of a "better than nothing" situation, even if they are forcing you to spend them at Walmart.

Edward Evans7 said:I went through the process myself, and they actually approved me in the end. I just filled out the online application for a Walmart card, and within an hour, a banker from my local branch called me up. They needed my ID and my most recent pay stub. Now, mind you, I already have a checking account with them, but I don't have my primary salary deposited there—it all goes to some US firm I do contract work for, earning roughly $1.50 bucks. My take-home is about $15,000. They ended up approving me for a $30,000 limit, which I assume is the ceiling.

If I'm dealing with a client at JPMorgan Chase, can the fees for that Walmart revolving Mastercard be paid through the mail?

Looks like Oreo kicks off today... or whenever that app update actually hits the App Store.

"You can sign up for Oreo starting July 28, 2020—basically once the latest version of the Venmo app drops with
all those new features. Here’s a quick rundown of the updates to the JPMorgan Chase terms regarding this service:"

Let's try to guess which card brand they'll actually use—if I had to bet, it’ll probably just be some prepaid Visa debit card, right?

Also, does anyone know how to get rid of this "secondary" profile? It’s totally useless now, so I'd love to just delete it...

ironcyclist58 said:Yeah, looking at the terms, there’s absolutely nothing mentioned about that. There isn't even any kind of verification process; I've actually got the exact same cards and accounts linked to two different Venmo profiles...

Has anyone here tried running two different numbers—like, two separate PayPal accounts—where you're using a secondary checking account linked to one number to pay for stuff via a credit card tied to the other? I'm curious if anyone's actually pulled that off.

What’s everyone’s experience been like using PayPal for option two, maybe paired with Parallel space for switching back and forth occasionally?
I'm looking at moving funds between my own accounts—or just paying via a credit card—to another account.

I tried scanning a bill earlier, but the thing just wouldn't finish—it kept hanging. I guess everything is still being worked out, but maybe there’s some actual progress happening eventually.

Has anyone actually checked out or tried using the latest version of Venmo?

It looks like they finally added a way to scan payment slips and some kind of points system where $33=1 point or whatever that's supposed to mean.

They definitely didn't have this before.
