Nah. The first movie like this I ever saw—and I'm pretty sure you know this one—was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" - real actors mixed with cartoons.

We’ve got Stuart Little 2; we skipped the first one.

I gotta vent about dubbing for a second... watching movies on ABC used to terrify me because they didn't have subtitles—imagine John Wayne speaking German, it was absolutely haunting. Thank God things don't work like that over here, or we'd be dealing with some total disaster if a neighboring country handled our TV broadcasts.

Now that I actually have kids, I'm honestly glad dubbing exists since they can't even read yet. Someone mentioned earlier that they won't watch The Lion King because they can't stand the idea of anyone else (besides Jack Irons) voicing Scar. Personally, I think that's reaching a bit too far. Why?

Because dubbing isn't automatically a step backward. If it's done right—which, in my opinion, is exactly how they handled The Lion King—it's totally fine. The kids pick up all these little jokes instantly, and you'll find yourself laughing when they drop them at the perfect moment in real life.

But, if it's rushed through just to get it done—like, if you ask me, what happened with those Conan cartoons or fairy tales like Three Little Pigs and Snow White—then I'd rather just sit there and translate everything for them myself. When it's bad, every villain has this fake, overly dramatic voice, and you've got adults trying way too hard to sound like children... it's honestly worse than hearing John Wayne speak German. It's gross.

The bottom line? Every cloud has a silver lining... though obviously, we aren't calling good dubbing "evil" here.

I haven't heard anything yet, unknown... the guy is on vacation and I really don't feel like bugging him. I'll catch up with him in a few days and let you know how the surgery went. 🙂 Anyway, thanks for checking in!

By the way, while I was digging around for movie trivia on another forum, I heard this crazy theory—apparently, if you play Pink Floyd's "The Wall" right when the MGM lion finishes its roar at the start of the film, the tracks sync up perfectly with everything happening on screen until the end. Now I'm dying to know if that actually works or if it's just some urban legend. 🙂

Thanks for the heads-up, unknown! I don't have satellite TV myself, but I've got a buddy who’ll (hopefully!) be nice enough to actually record the movie for me.

And yeah, it's definitely for the kids... we're finishing up the book right now, and honestly, judging by all the comments and the debate going on, they're totally into it.

Man, that's awesome! Seriously, thanks a ton 🙂

Does anyone know where I can track down a VHS tape starring Judy Garland? Or better yet, does anyone have a decent TV recording of one of her movies that wouldn't be a total disaster to dub?

Thanks!
JP Morgan Chase - overdraft limits and fees in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’m actually feeling pretty good about my setup with Citigroup—they finally dropped my fees, but they didn't mess with my daily ATM limit at all. Total win!

Look, I don't give a damn about the overdraft—honestly, feel free to scrap it entirely. But back when I was opening my account at JP Morgan Chase a couple of years ago (back when I had my default limits set), they made one thing crystal clear: my daily ATM withdrawal limit is tied directly to that "minus" buffer.

Since—not all the time, but every once in a while—I find myself needing cash "tonight" after everything has already closed up for the day, having a higher withdrawal limit is a lifesaver for me. Plus, let's be real, I hate standing in line at a branch just to handle some trivial transaction when I could just hit an ATM and be done with it.

So, now that they've slashed my overdraft, I’m betting they’ve gone ahead and choked my ATM limit too. And frankly? That doesn't work for me.
