Hey everyone, quick question if you've got a quick answer. I've gotta head to the hospital tomorrow to get my tonsils ripped out. My appointment was set for Jan 9th, but I'm guessing they won't actually do the surgery tomorrow—probably more like the day after. Does anyone know what time I actually need to show up at the ENT department in Rijeka tomorrow? Like, do I have to be there right at 8 AM sharp, or can I just roll in during the afternoon? I tried calling them just now, but nobody's picking up—they've probably already clocked out for the day. If anyone knows the deal, please let me know, thanks!

Hey there, sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong spot. My liver has been killing me for about five years now. For the first six months or so, the pain was absolutely brutal, then it leveled off, but I still feel it every single day. My gastroenterologist sent me to get some hepatitis markers checked out, and here’s what came back:
Hepatitis A IgG antibodies Negative
Hepatitis B antibodies Negative
Hepatitis B surface antigen Negative
Hepatitis B surface antibodies 261 mIU/mL
Hepatitis C antibodies Negative
I honestly have no clue what to make of all this. Now I'm stuck waiting another month to see my gastroenterologist again. Does this mean I have Hepatitis B? How bad is this actually? I'm reading horror stories online about liver cancer, cirrhosis, even death. I'm only 23, I don't do drugs, and I'm a virgin—never had sex—so I know Hepatitis B usually spreads through blood or sex. But I have performed oral sex on maybe four girls, and now I'm spiraling wondering if you can catch it that way.

velvetmoose9 said:So, you've had some legit reason to get a liver ultrasound for over a year now...
Yeah? And what exactly was that reason?
Look, I actually went on my own dime because for like two years straight—well, if we're counting from when I first got the ultrasound a year ago, we're talking three years total—I was getting absolutely hammered by this pain right under my right ribs. It felt like there was a freaking rock lodged under my ribcage, just constant pressure. Man, it was brutal. I couldn't even sleep on my left side because that "rock" feeling would just intensify, and I couldn't even stretch out to the right or bend my torso without it killing me. Just constant. Some days it was sharp and stabbing, other days it was more of a dull ache, just all over the place. I’m a pretty lazy guy, honestly, and I just lived with this agony for two solid years until I finally caved last year and saw a doctor, who then sent me for an ultrasound. Turns out, the ultrasound showed everything was perfectly fine. After that, the pain kind of just... died down on its own. No meds, nothing, it just vanished. But now, for the last 2 or 3 months, the exact same thing is creeping back up on me. Only difference is, now I’m feeling it in both kidneys too—at least where they're supposed to be. Whether it's actually my kidneys or not, I have no clue. I can definitely feel the pain right at the bottom of my right ribs and up near the top, basically right under where those first rows end, just to the right of the solar plexus, maybe a tiny bit below.

You definitely need at least a basic abdominal workup (start with an ultrasound).
Have you had a cold, some random virus, or just a period of unexplained weakness or getting tired way too fast lately?
Unprotected sex?
Drinking?
Using any recreational stuff?
Or maybe taking meds chronically?
No viruses, no colds, no general weakness... though if we're talking about getting winded, yeah. Like, I’ll be walking and after maybe 3 or 4 minutes I have to gasp for air through my mouth, but it's nothing crazy—once I get going, it passes. It's mostly just that initial burst. No sex, obviously, I'm a guy. I don't drink alcohol either, ever. No recreational drugs, nothing... except for Helex, which my doctor prescribed to help me chill out because my heart situation has been making me super anxious. And as for other meds? Absolutely nothing. About a year ago, I had an ultrasound done and the results showed my gallbladder was fine, liver was fine, right kidney was fine, spleen too. I'm seeing a cardiologist this Tuesday, so I'm assuming he'll tell me what's next, like, point me in the right direction for whatever tests I need once he looks over my bloodwork?
Hey, I'm 21 and just went in for bloodwork because my heart's been acting up—palpitations, chest pains, tachycardia... honestly, sometimes it feels like it's skipping beats entirely. I actually ended up in the ER once; they did an EKG, and the doc there said my heart rate was fast but steady. Then I went to get my thyroid checked out, and those results came back totally fine. Still stuck wondering if this is all just psychosomatic stress or something actual physical. Seeing a cardiologist this Tuesday, so we'll see what happens. I'm staring at my lab results right now and most things look mostly okay, but a few values are definitely outside the normal range and they've got me tripping. If anyone can make sense of this, please help!
(K) MCV - 82.1, whereas the normal range is 83-97.2
(K) MCHC - 358, while the normal range is 320-345
(K) (MPV) - 10.5, and the normal range is 6.8-10.4
(S) Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) - 54, normal is 11-38
(S) Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) - 120, normal is 12-48—this one is seriously freaking me out the most
Every now and then, I get this sharp pain right under my right ribcage, though it doesn't happen constantly. I also get that same kind of stabbing pain in my back where my right kidney is, just so you know. For comparison, when I had blood drawn exactly a year ago, my AST was 22 and my ALT was 36.

Hey everyone. So, I’ve got this absolutely nightmare-level problem. Is it my hair or my head? Honestly, let's just say my head—it stinks. Like, seriously. I shower every single day, scrubbing both my hair and my body, but literally just a few hours after I dry off, my head starts smelling again. And the crazy part? I haven't even broken a sweat. It’s driving me freaking insane and honestly, it’s given me major social anxiety. I’ve always had oily skin—forehead, nose, those areas next to my nostrils—so I’m wondering if that’s the culprit? Maybe my scalp is just as greasy as my face and that's where the stench is coming from? This whole thing started maybe 6 or 7 months ago; before that, never. My face has been oily since puberty, but the smell is new. I’ve tried every shampoo under the sun, but nothing works. That specific, gross smell just keeps coming back. Also, whenever my face gets oily, I have to wipe it away with my fingers because it's so uncomfortable, and I've noticed even that facial oil has a weird scent—almost identical to the smell coming from my hair... Plus, the skin around my nose is constantly red!!! Please, people, help me out here because this stuff is totally killing my chances of ever finding a girlfriend... Oh, and yeah, I did see a dermatologist once about the oily skin, and they gave me this Dercome clear suspension. I was supposed to apply it morning and night, which I did for about a week or two, but it didn't do squat. All it did was dry my skin out so much it felt tight, like I couldn't even smile without feeling it. My eyebrows are peeling too, and little white flakes fall out of my hair whenever I rub it, even though when I stare at my scalp in the mirror, it doesn't even look like I have dandruff; it looks pretty normal. Anyway, I listed all these things that are UTTERLY torturing me, so please, help! One more thing—for about a year now, my liver area has been hurting. Like, intensely. It settles down, then flares up again, especially when I've been sitting for a long time or when I lie on my left side. Could this possibly be related to my liver? Haha, who knows... also, when I take a deep breath, I feel this discomfort on my right side under the ribs, almost like there's a stone stuck there.
