If you’re registered with Betfair from somewhere else—say, South Africa—you’re betting directly against Betfair instead of other users. Someone told me this is called cross matching with Betfair.

http://www.betfair.com/aboutUs/Regulatory.Information/

Basically, I almost always Lay at odds of 2.0 with a $10 stake, but I have a hard time getting them MATCHED. It usually accepts lower odds and smaller stakes much faster.

"Someone told me," "someone said," etc.
BF cross matching is pretty straightforward.
Take an illiquid market, for example.

Here’s an example:
The old system: An illiquid market. Tennis.
Player 1 BACK price 1.4
Player 2 LAY price 2.00

Under the old system, if someone doesn't really have a feel for the odds and wants to Back Player 1 at 1.5 for $100, they can't find a match at 1.5. So, that 1.5 order just sits on the Lay side... but why would you Back at 1.5 when you could Lay at 2.0 and grab way more profit?

The new system: Cross matching.
Player 1 BACK price 1.4
Player 2 LAY price 2.00

Let's say you want to Back Player 1 at 1.5 for $100. Even though there's no liquidity and no 1.5 odds available to match you, instead of that $100 sitting on the Lay side, it gets matched immediately at 2.00. Why? Because the system sees that someone on the Lay side wants to Back Player 2 at 2.00 for, say, $200.
The system takes $100 from them and shows you as if you Backed at 2.00.
Essentially, it favors players who aren't being super careful with their odds.

Hope that clears things up.

Best, 👍

If you used a Mastercard, you just request a withdrawal straight to it. It'll show up on your bank statement as a REFUND or a reversal from Bet365.

Good luck!

Chris Doyle4 said:The third option is out of the question—there’s just no way that happened. I mean, sure, it’s technically possible in some wild, alternate universe scenario, but let’s be real. That day, I was specifically depositing enough cash to pull my account out of the red and back into a safe, authorized overdraft limit. Plus, I have the deposit slip right here in front of me—it clearly shows the updated balance immediately after the transaction. It’s all right there in black and white.

I’ve got a bad feeling about option number two—something just feels off about it. If that were the actual plan, the bank would just snatch the funds automatically, right? But that’s not what’s happening here, because they’re sitting around waiting for me to give them the green light to process the refund. Unless, of course, I'm totally wrong and the bank doesn't even have the authority to pull the trigger on their own.

Honestly, my gut is telling me that the first option is the way to go here—but look, I’m not about to rush into anything. I need to sit on this until Monday, really weigh all the possibilities, and, you know, do a little soul-searching to make sure I'm not just being impulsive. Once I've had a chance to clear my head and process everything, I'll get back to you guys.

Ugh, my personal banker is being beyond obnoxious. Seriously—she called again this afternoon, but I wasn't even home. Honestly, I’ve got this nagging feeling they’re just trying to bully me into making a refund happen—basically using intimidation tactics to get their way—even though, objectively speaking, they don't have any legal leg to stand on. But hey, that's how these big banks work, right? It'll probably end up working for them in the end anyway. Typical.

There’s just one more thing that’s been rattling around in my head—seriously, I can't stop thinking about this. If I just... don't pay, what actually happens? Like, does the bank have any legal ground to come after me, or is it just that one clerk who keeps calling me? Is it even possible for the bank itself to freeze my account, or is it just that specific personal banker who called me—you know, the one who won't take a hint—trying to pull a power move?

Some people are definitely sitting pretty with a surplus in their accounts. $63Man, I’m already deep in the red—just when they decide to let me run another deficit, too. $500.

Why on earth aren't customers at certain banks protected by some kind of actual security check—you know, like a verification step before a transaction actually clears? It’s wild. I mean, hypothetically speaking, what happens if someone swipes my card while they’ve somehow got my PIN, and they just proceed to drain every single cent out of my account? If I didn't even realize how much money was sitting in there to begin with, who's supposed to take the fall? Me? Seriously? Is it really on my shoulders?
So, in a scenario like this, are we really saying that the users—you know, the people actually caught in the middle of this mess—should be the ones filing formal complaints against officials who are clearly just being negligent and incompetent at their jobs??

An individual can sue you, but you'd still be able to use the bank's services.

Chris Doyle4 said:Look, I don't think you guys are getting where I'm coming from—there’s an active garnishment sitting on my account right now, and since I'm currently out of work and don't have a steady paycheck coming in, I simply don't have the cash to cover it. Then, out of nowhere, this happens and it somehow covers the garnishment, leaving me with $500 in allowed funds... but now I’m expected to just magically cough up another $500 to pay back the bank? I literally have nothing, you know?
It feels to me like when I went down to the teller window and paid $17 to get out of that unauthorized overdraft, she clearly botched the entry or something. She messed up the bookkeeping.
So, even though this isn't my fault and I've been backed into a corner by their mistake, if I don't pay them back, I'm looking at criminal charges? Seriously? That's just great.

Another thing regarding this whole mess—hypothetically, let's say I hadn't checked on that payment, and in the meantime, someone had stolen my card and drained my account at an ATM (just playing devil's advocate here), who would be held responsible for their sheer incompetence? Me, again?
If that's really how things work—if I'm supposed to suffer because of their lack of professionalism and that typical "not my problem" attitude—then honestly, I lose all motivation to pay a single cent. It would just be a lesson for them to actually learn how to do their jobs properly, especially after how many times I've already been burned by them.

If you hadn't touched the money, there wouldn't be a problem. You could have just left it sitting in the account.
But because there was a garnishment and they took $500, it's treated as if you spent it. They can actually file a lawsuit if you don't pay it back.

How do you actually get this card? Do you just walk into a Chase branch and they hand it to you right then and there, like you're picking up a gift card or following the usual routine for any other card? Does that mean the PIN and the physical card both show up in the mail later??

Thanks

If you actually want to get serious about betting and make money in the long run, Betfair is where it's at. It can be a bit of a learning curve for beginners to figure out how everything works, but once you get the hang of it, it opens up a whole new dimension of betting!🙂

If you prefer the classic online sportsbook vibe, Pinnacle is easily a class above the rest of the competition.

P.S. Peter Williams37, of all the people on this forum, I happen to run into you here? 🤣Cheers!👍

And what are you going to do about it, 🤣

Anyway, I usually just use Binteko Fairbot for my Betfair stuff. It's a little weaker than the other tools out there, but it gets the job done for me...

Gary White2 said:I just signed up for Bet365, deposited $100, grabbed that $100 bonus they were offering, and put the whole $100 on a single bet.

I don't really get this rollover thing. Can someone break it down for me?

Just a heads-up: you'll need to roll over both your deposit and your bonus three times before you can actually pull any cash out.

Does this mean I have to place bets totaling $300, or am I looking at $600—meaning one $300 bet for the deposit and another $300 for the bonus—before I can actually withdraw everything at once?

For Bet365, you need to have a 600 dollar wager, and I think that means with odds over 1.7 or 1.5—I can't quite remember which one.
Everything you need is right there when you go to check your balance...

Hey there!
I dropped off the package with the payment. It was picked up today. When should I expect the mail carrier to swing by my house with the cash?
Is there any chance it could happen tomorrow?

Thanks!

Which sportsbook offers the most handicap options?
Just looking at basketball as an example: I've noticed some places only list two per game, but does anyone know if there are sites that offer way more than that?
Besides Bet365, of course.
Thanks!

so you stay just as informed (if not more so) than you would be about, say, federal laws

I mean, I get that, but like I said before, there's a legal loophole where they can actually sue to force an account deletion.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic tangent!

Jacob Foster11 said:I wouldn't know. I'm definitely not a lawyer.

But I am certain they won't just wipe your profile because you asked them to. You can always file a lawsuit to prove they’re legally obligated to do it. There's a chance a judge might even rule in your favor. But they aren't going to delete it just on a whim. At least, that's how it's always worked.

I know they won't just delete it out of nowhere, but if I really want it gone, I can make that happen. I can demand it, no problem. Once a lawsuit is filed, it goes 100% in the user's favor. Like I said before, sure, there's a specific procedure to follow, but there are plenty of legal loopholes that work in your favor too.
Standard practice everywhere is notice and then re-accepting the terms of service.
Anyway, I don't want to take this thread totally off-topic, so I think we've covered it.

Sorry for the OT. Mods or Administrators, feel free to scrub these posts if needed...

Thanks

Man, I’ve been waiting for this:
First off, what you're saying is true, BUT!
If they actually end up adding anything to the rules, I have to accept them again. In other words, they need to notify me.

I actually have a PayPal account too, but I need to hit that $100 threshold first, which is the catch. As far as I know, I can really only use it to send money right now.

And honestly, you're right—the US has its own set of restrictions there. If the card doesn't work, maybe try it again or just reach out to support. Tell them you're running into issues so they can figure out what's going on.

Best,

P. S. I have no idea how people find the time for Second Life. I guess if you're under 18, it’s easier, but otherwise, it's a lot!

Use your own home address. Honestly, why don't you just sign up for PayPal instead?
As for the CVV2 or security code, that’s just the three digits on the back of your card.

Yeah, you definitely can. Most modern chip cards come with that CVV code printed on them now, and it works just fine. I've tested it on a few different sites myself.

Well, look at Mr. Know-it-all over here.👍

I'm glad to hear that's an option in the States now too, but I have a question. Since I don't spend much time around my old accounts, I don't really use my local cards. I'm still using this old debit card from Chase—is there any way to get a new one that actually has the CVV2 code on the back?
Do I just have to wait for this one to expire, or is there some other trick to it...

Thanks in advance for the help!
Best online payment cards? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
You can only do that if your bank actually provided you with the CVV2 code. On Visa cards, those are just the three digits on the back. To be honest, I’m pretty sure you couldn't do that with a standard debit card here in the States last year, but if they updated their security protocols this year, who knows?
If you have that code handy, then you're good to go.

Best,
