I am looking for some software recommendations for cleaning up speech recordings—specifically, I need to record a speech and then refine it to minimize background noise and similar distractions.
Laser printer recommendations? in Computer Peripherals ·
I am looking for recommendations regarding an affordable laser printer. My primary focus is minimizing both the initial hardware cost and the long-term toner expenses.

Thanks
Henry Myers3 said:It all comes down to ideology:

Democrats:
"We're generating profit. Let’s create more jobs and hire as many people as possible. If we run low on workers, let's just bring in immigrants so everyone can earn a living together and improve our domestic economy."

Republicans:
"We're generating profit. Let’s open up new positions in some impoverished country with cheap labor. We can let those folks work for pennies while we pull pure profit back home to boost our own standard of living. Why bother funding newcomers when we could just make life better for our own citizens without bringing in outsiders?"

Once you understand these two perspectives, you start to see why the US managed to extract $120 billion in pure profit from Latin America alone during the mid-80s—even though, on paper, they claimed it was massive aid for development. You also see why the USSR consistently ran a steady $30 billion deficit through its trade exchanges with Eastern Bloc countries.

Ultimately, this is why people say a young man is often a Democrat and an idealist, while a mature adult becomes a Republican and a realist.

Are "Democrat" politicians actually young or old!? You’ve essentially contradicted yourself there.

I would argue that a true realist isn't tied to the Democrat or Republican labels—they simply think for themselves and hold their own convictions.
Lisa Walker31 said:Well, I don't think their goals are actually identical. The Democrats... they approach this whole mess from a humanitarian perspective. (And honestly, me too... even though I’m not strictly a Democrat 😉).
When someone is literally risking their life... barely surviving just to make it into America... what are you supposed to do? Toss them back into the ocean... let them drown? (Just like so many others who disappear... traveling from Africa all the way to the Italian coast).
They aren't "attacking" America with weapons... nor are they conquering it... (unlike what our "White" people did to their homelands and ancestors for centuries). Look, they aren't raping us. They're just trying to survive.
We, or our elites (if you want to act like you're some kind of White European 😁), still control many of their countries, their wealth, and their governments... yet in the meantime... we've become politically and economically dependent on the very countries these immigrants are fleeing.
So... if the Democrats don't raise hell about the sheer number of immigrants flooding into America... then neither do the political elites... nor the capitalists, who happen to benefit most from cheap labor.

It’s much cheaper to import one healthy, grown adult worker than it is to fund child benefits, daycare, schools, healthcare... for the entire 20+ year cycle.

Every single morning... along the beaches of southern Spain... you see the bodies of those who didn't make it.
The image is gut-wrenching... which is why most of the Democrats—and even people like me—don't quite know how to respond to people who are willing to sacrifice everything just for a crust of bread.

By the way... it just hit me that I am a product of similar circumstances. My father and mother met in an Austrian "camp" for refugees fleeing communism. And they absolutely risked their lives... just like these people arriving in America today.

Look... it’s simple. We can't turn back the clock. You can't **un-stuff it once it's in you.

Back when Magellan and his crew set out on those expeditions to sail the globe... globalization really kicked into high gear. Colonization and technology just pushed it further and further. Now, all we can really do is... try to control immigration to some extent.

Besides... if our White Europeans spent centuries exporting their own poverty to Africa, Australia, and the Americas... why the hell are we whining now just because a Black person or a Chinese person shows up in Verona?
Nowadays, there are more "Italians" in Sao Paulo than there are in Rome... and Italians are arguably the most xenophobic of all Europeans. Even the Greeks can't compete with them. However... until the 1970s, they were incredibly active in exporting their hunger, their misery, and their chaos. Now they act like they're some threatened indigenous population. 😛

Don't blame those "Dark-skinned" folks chasing a living... instead, go screw the Spaniards, the English, the Portuguese, and the Dutch... the ones who opened the doors to the world several centuries ago.

To me, the funniest thing is when Berlusconi starts making a huge stink about immigrants 😁... when the Romans conquered the entire Mediterranean. They Latinized almost our entire region. Mussolini marched into Africa... (and even today, plenty of Somalis speak Italian and eat spaghetti 😉

They used to ship their mafia syndicates all over the globe....and now they’re suddenly acting all high and mighty, picking fights with Romani pickpockets. Absolute hypocrites. 😁

And honestly....I don't buy this whole idea that Democrats "need" immigrants just to secure future votes. I mean, Democrats win in plenty of places where there aren't even many immigrants around who would bother voting for them in the first place.
Secondly....look at Germany, they’ve only just started handing out citizenship left and right. Most of those immigrants didn't even have the right to vote until recently.
It isn't exactly easy to become a voter in Europe.

If the Democrats had ever actually stopped to think....Europe would never have conquered those distant lands in the first place. When you look at it that way....the left has always been incredibly conservative on this issue.
Now....now that they're finally facing the fallout from all those European adventures and their version of "progress"...all they can do is react "like decent people." We're talking about human beings here...not livestock....(which they seem to think should be herded around like cattle in a pen).

Forgive me, but I haven't heard anything more foolish in quite some time. Immigrants are brought in specifically for cheap labor—it's simple math. Plus, Democratic parties have an extra incentive since these people represent future voters, making it much easier to peddle that whole "humanitarian" demagoguery...
How to get started with agtech and farming investments? in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
My father used to run a highly sophisticated pig farm out of that area—plus another massive facility—using some pretty advanced tech. Honestly, though, that’s just not an option anymore; it demands far too much labor and hands-on involvement.

I find myself leaning more toward plant-based ventures or something similar?

What's the actual deal with mushroom cultivation and the wholesale market?

If you're just thinking about planting out in the field, I might head out to the ranch once every couple of years, but if you're trying to run an indoor grow operation, there is absolutely no way to pull that off without being there on a daily basis.

Beyond that, you really have to weigh all the other factors—labor costs, secondary facilities, oversight, transportation logistics...

I would likely only visit once or twice a month—though that assumes I have staff on hand—and I actually have a reliable crew there to handle the oversight. It’s a fully equipped pig farm, though it has been sitting idle for about ten years now.

I am looking into some low-investment farming options—nothing needs to be incredibly profitable, really—as long as the risk remains minimal. The land is located in Canada, so I won't be worrying about any government subsidies or grants there.

What should I cultivate on a roughly 4,000 square foot plot that used to be a pig farm? Since I won't be able to visit the site regularly—it's a bit of a trek—I need something that doesn't require constant supervision and is easy to delegate to an employee.

I considered mushroom farming, for instance—but that's probably not going to work out.
