What kind of values do you all think drive homophobia? I mean, if someone were actually conducting a study, what would they find it correlates with—perhaps an intense focus on family values, a high degree of patriotism, practical religious observance, or even the belief that abortion is murder?
If you had to take a guess, what other factors might be linked to it?
hmmm, linking it to abortion being murder????🤷
Zeus Daniel Wilson5 said:Daniel Wilson5, if you're going to be such a loud advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, maybe you should start by being honest about who you actually are... 😉😁
Zeus, I’m not even going to get into the debate over LGBTQ+ rights because, frankly, I find the whole concept questionable... But I do get why you’re so worked up. You’re clearly offended that I asked those girls if they found it creepy how you’re constantly hitting on them sexually. Don't try to hide behind "anxiety" when these poor women are just looking for a little bit of comfort or advice, only for you to turn it into something vulgar. It felt tasteless, and honestly, it turned out to be spot on—some of those girls actually responded, saying you were attacking and insulting them... Still, I suppose I should give you credit for pivoting your strategy. Now, instead of being direct, you lead with a crude joke, follow it up with a "just kidding" disclaimer, and then finally answer their questions like a proper doctor. Very subtle... Anyway, don't go getting all puffed up thinking I'm your competition. I really am not...
Well, looks like the kids are getting fired up, haha. I feel for them, really, but this isn't actually about me—it’s about homophobia. And for the record, I’m still claiming queer. To save everyone some confusion, I’ll drop a little context on the term here... maybe then things will click:
Queer (disambiguation).
.[1]Historically, "queer" just meant something was odd or out of the ordinary. Nowadays, however, it's most commonly used within the LGBTQ+ community (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and non-normative heterosexual) circles. The word itself carries quite a bit of baggage; it saw massive shifts throughout the 20th century when various groups began reclaiming it as a tool for empowerment. While some still find it offensive or derogatory, many others view it as a reclaimed label for any sexual orientation or gender identity that refuses to fit into the narrow boxes of heteronormative society.

joooj, the whole thing was such a complete joke that it isn't even worth bringing up.🤦
It was pretty nasty. Silva has some serious mental health issues and she's completely spiraled.

Women definitely have the upper hand here...🙂😍
Edward Wilson82 said:Is a parent being homophobic if they ask their son if he likes any particular girl?
Is a parent homophobic just because they want their kid to be straight?
Is someone homophobic for knowing the difference between a vagina and an anus?
Is a parent homophobic for demanding that, if something happens to them, their child be adopted by a man and a woman rather than two people of the same sex?
Is a kid without parents being "homophobic" if they want a mom and a dad instead of two moms?
Is nature itself—the very thing that made reproduction between a man and a woman possible, rather than between two men or two women—being homophobic?
And one last thing. If you were that kid losing your parents, would you actually want to be adopted by a man and a woman, or two people of the same sex?
Is it homophobia to commit Ana Dragičević to a mental asylum?
Is it homophobia to physically assault people at a Pride parade?
Is it homophobia to get fired simply because you're gay?
Is it homophobia to verbally abuse someone based on their sexual orientation?
Etc...
slywolf45 said:Fair enough, but from what I can gather, your first thread got shut down for the exact same reason—that heated, offensive tone. At least, that’s what Gary James88 mentioned.🤷
Besides, there's really no need to slide into people's DMs or throw insults around just to make sure your frustration and irritation come through in your posts.
In my experience participating in these kinds of discussions—I've even started a thread about LGBTQ+ topics before—staying level-headed and attempting to tolerate differing viewpoints (provided they aren't outright aggressive) usually yields much better results.
I have to agree with you; it’s definitely the better long-term strategy...😉
Guilty as charged😍
silentpilot6 said:I really couldn't care less about your breasts when, based on your orientation, I won't even get the chance to touch them in the first place... 😁, 🤷
As far as I'm concerned, you can have natural anti-gravity 5. 👍 It makes no difference to me...
Touching breasts isn't off the table. I'm queer, and I'm perfectly fine with accommodating the needs of straight people.
Personally, I couldn't care less about all this talk regarding "rights"—I don't fully wrap my head around the whole debate anyway. In my view, marriage shouldn't be equated with same-sex unions because marriage was established as an institution between a man and a woman. Maybe same-sex partnerships could just call it something else... I’m simply saying that homophobia is essentially masked aggression—a refusal to accept gay people that manifests as negative pressure on that community. That is a plain fact. I am not talking about special privileges or perks, but rather the fundamental human rights of gay individuals, which remain under threat regardless of anyone offering "support" from the comfort of their couch. By the way, Gay Pride really isn't my cup of tea; what is with all that tacky, over-the-top trash? Not that I can stop it, though. What am I supposed to say? Hey guys, maybe tone down the aesthetic a bit and find some actual style for the gay identity?
slywolf45 said:Look... if your default setting is to attack anyone who isn't busy singing praises to homosexuals, you aren't going to get very far, nor are you going to find much sympathy here.
Tolerance is supposed to be a two-way street. Even when we're feeling frustrated or heated, jumping down someone's throat over every single syllable doesn't actually help the "cause."😉
Hmm, "anger" and "frustration" sound a bit more intense than the tone I’ve actually been using until now. But hey, if that's how you see it....
redharbor9 said:Get your heads together here.... Homophobia—which is basically just prejudice against sexual minorities—requires actual hatred or some kind of intense negative emotion toward them. Since silentpilot6 clearly doesn't have any of that, he isn't homophobic...
Though I honestly think he might still end up posting if people keep sucking up to him like this 😍
hehe, he's right on the edge
Gary James88 said:The thread was pulled because it was basically incitement, and calling homophobes "popes" violated the subforum rules.
Thanks for the clarification.
Exactly... what are we even talking about here?
slywolf45 said:Fair enough.
Awareness is vital, sure.
But how exactly do you reach the crowd that still views homosexuality as some kind of pathology—people who don't even grant that specific "profession" any legitimacy or legal standing in the first place?🤷
Most folks know the term "homophobia" exists, but I highly doubt anyone is going to look in the mirror and admit, "Yeah, I'm a homophobe."
Personally, I find concepts like internalized homophobia much more compelling to unpack right now.
There are a thousand ways to build awareness, but honestly, we need actual legal consequences—fines and other penalties for that kind of behavior would be ideal. Persistence is everything.
Gary James88 said:Gay people deserve the exact same rights as any other citizen in this country.
But let’s be real: expecting everyone to suddenly embrace them or champion their cause just because of some "awareness" campaign is pure fantasy.
At the end of the day, people are entitled to their own views, opinions, and even their prejudices.
Look, violence is violence, and hate speech is hate speech. We should call it what it is and work on educating people while actually enforcing consequences for that behavior. There is an immense amount of aggression directed at gay people out there. It doesn't matter if someone personally accepts you or likes you—that's irrelevant. What matters is that when expression crosses the line into actual harassment, it needs to be stopped by any means necessary. I don't particularly care for many straight or gay people myself, but I don't threaten them...
silentpilot6 said:No, I’m not a homophobe. I’m just part of that quiet majority that, as I mentioned before, is honestly just checked out from all this... I won't say a single word against it because I truly believe that love is love 😁 but damn, these constant identity politics are starting to get on my nerves. It’s like people act as if this is the most important issue in the entire world, along with everything else tied to it.
I wonder what the point of 🤷 is, though it seems obvious this topic will just devolve into an endless argument... 🙄
As far as I'm concerned, it won't end in a fight because that wasn't even the point of this discussion. And if you want my honest opinion, you're being a pretty hardcore homophobe because you clearly couldn't care less—and that's actually the worst part!
Gary James88 said:Don't bother writing an essay for your opening post. Most people just scroll past a wall of text anyway. Just hit the main points, throw in a few arguments, and maybe a quote if it fits.
Fine. I just started a thread with a quick little post and my entire thing was wiped out overnight!!!!
slywolf45, we really need to call out what homophobia actually looks like. Most people don't even realize they're being homophobes, let alone understand why they act that way or the actual damage they cause to gay people and the community at large. It’s also refreshing to see that even within the field of social psychology, homophobia is officially recognized as toxic behavior that needs to be addressed...
