Has anyone here actually tried Zoloft, and how is the experience?
I mean, does it make you sleepy or cause weight gain?

hiddenfox51 said:So, I’ve just added Moditen (2.5 mg) to my current routine alongside the Loquen (100 mg), and I was wondering if anyone here has experience with it? Is this actually a solid move, or am I just adding more noise to the mix? I'd love to hear any thoughts or personal stories you might have.

I used to be on Seroquel, which is basically the same thing as what hiddenfox51 is taking. Honestly, for my OCD symptoms, it worked pretty well. It makes me a little drowsy, sure, but I could still function at work without much trouble.
Just don't go overboard with the cookies. Watch yourself—I didn't, and now I've definitely put on some weight.

Larry Lewis I can't even begin to deal with this right now. It’s just... ugh. Honestly, I don't even know where to start because everything feels like such a mess lately. You see people talking, acting like they have it all figured out, and then you look at the reality of the situation and it's just a joke. A complete joke. Anyway, whatever. Just one of those days where everything feels heavy and nothing makes sense. Just venting, I guess.
So, I finally started the 300mg Seroquel XR yesterday. It’s officially in play now, so let's see what this thing actually does to me.🙂

Honestly, Seroquel works for me—it’s actually doing a better job than my old meds—but man, the weight gain is no joke. I am constantly craving sugar like crazy. It's constant.😉
I am seriously obsessed with sweets. Like, I can't help it—yum, yum, yum. I’ve actually talked it over with my doctor, and we're going to try cutting back by half. We'll see how that goes.
I'm sitting at 150 mg a day right now.
I just really hope my obsessions don't start spiraling out of control again. Not looking forward to that.

I’m having a really rough one today. Just got hit with some situations that completely wrecked my head. My OCD is acting up big time because of it. I just feel so down.😢

I keep thinking more and more about electroconvulsive therapy.
Has anyone here actually tried it? What’s the vibe? How does it actually feel? I don't know, maybe it would actually help.
I just really don't want to end up feeling all foggy or forgetful after it's done.

Honestly, it feels like it might be easier to just go out and shoot myself in the head so everything could just...🙂get fixed once and for all.

redpilot37 said:Stopped by my primary care doctor today. What really threw me off was when I asked about melatonin; she basically told me to just check with a neurologist instead of giving me her take😕. Not that I mind, but I’m heading to a specialist anyway since I dealt with epilepsy back when I was a kid.

Also, that Pfizer Circadin has to be bought with a private prescription out of pocket,$52...even though it's technically on the formulary, you end up paying full price regardless.
I honestly don't get it. Is melatonin really that sketchy? My doctor wouldn't even touch the subject—just gave me this look like, "You're too young for stuff like that..."
So yeah, I've given up on it for now.

What are you even taking melatonin for?

If it makes you feel any better, I’m dropping a ton of cash every month and a half just to get two big boxes of Anafranil$100. Pfizer doesn't even make it anymore.
And there's some rumor going around that Aurora will be out of stock too, which is going to cost me even more money.$33.

Maria Long3 said:I couldn't agree more. What works perfectly for one person can be an absolute nightmare for someone else. The real struggle is that you won't actually know which one fits your chemistry until you try them—which is often an exhausting, uncomfortable process. I just started taking Alice today; I can't say much yet, other than I haven't had the intense reactions I dealt with on Paxil and Effexor. We'll see how things settle in about 20 days or so.

Seroquel is fine for me, but man, the weight gain is real. I've put on so much weight. I really want to scale back my dose because of it, but then I start worrying that everything will just spiral and get worse again. Honestly, I feel like a balloon right now... one of these days I'm just gonna pop, haha.

wiredmason56 said:So, I’m checking in with some pretty bad news regarding Tegretol. The very first night I took it, everything seemed fine at first—it actually relaxed me quite a bit and I drifted off instantly. But then came the nightmares. They were absolutely revolting. Tuesday was the only night I slept decently; the rest of the week has been a total disaster. But tonight? Tonight was a straight-up horror movie. I got up to grab some water, went back to bed, and suddenly there was this ringing in my left ear, followed by this terrifying rumbling, like an earthquake was hitting the house. I was seeing visions of pure catastrophe right in front of my eyes, and it felt like the whole room was shaking. I spent half an hour just frozen and rigid in bed after I popped a Xanax just to try and pull myself together. My heart was racing a mile a minute. The worst part is that I was fully conscious through all of it. I’ve had panic attacks before, but this was on a completely different level of terrifying.😲 Well, now everyone is telling me to just toss the Tegretol in the trash immediately, and honestly, that’s what I’m going to do. I don't want to scare anyone, though—maybe it's just me, but I doubt it's everyone's experience. Anyway, I skipped it tonight because of the insomnia, and look what happened anyway. Any advice is welcome.

I was only on Tegretol for a week. It made me feel incredibly nauseous and kept making me want to throw up. Gross!

First off, Bristol-Myers Squibb stopped making Anafranil, so now I have to order it from Germany and pay full price out of pocket. On top of that, Fevarin isn't even available on the market here anymore.
Now I’m stuck paying for that one too. Honestly, why am I even paying for supplemental health insurance if this is how it works?!🙂

The only thing left is for Seroquel to disappear too.
I am seriously going to lose my freaking mind...🙂

And the worst part is, this specific combo of meds was actually working for me.
But now? Now I'm terrified of switching things up. I just really hope I don't end up feeling worse.
Because of how expensive everything has gotten, I've already had to cut back on my Anafranil dose.
I've just been feeling pretty down lately.
I can't tell if it's just the season changing or if something is actually wrong with me.🙂
I feel like absolute crap.😛

I guess I’m the complete opposite. I was on Faverin, and honestly, during that first week, I couldn't even close my eyes at night. Just total insomnia. Plus, I kept having these massive crying fits out of nowhere. It was a mess.
Clearly, this med isn't doing anything for me. Total bust.

p.s.
Not on Paxil anymore. Between that and having scabies, it was a nightmare.
btw., I believe Prozac can wreck someone just like it did me—much like how Effexor, which everyone raves about, turned me into a total wax figure. I’d even go so far as to say it tanked my libido... But I have one quick question since you went through such drama with Prozac: what was your dosage, and what were you taking it with?

If I remember right, it was 20 mg, three times a day. And I was definitely on Xanax too, 0.25 mg three times a day.😛

hollowviper40 said:I believe Prozac can act that way for certain patients—though let's face it, we're all essentially patients, even when we aren't taking Prozac and complaining to our doctors. As that Irish genius George Bernard Shaw once put it, "the whole world is one big hospital," and if one of the "hospitalized" thinks they might feel better somewhere else—say, the French Riviera, the Caribbean, or New Zealand—it's really no different than asking for a hospital bed closer to or further from a window; nothing actually changes—the sickness is inside them, eating away at the system regardless. When I switched from Paxil to Prozac back in the day, I was incredibly irritable and combative for nearly two weeks. Someone with less self-control, especially if they're still young and immature, could potentially commit a decent little massacre in their immediate surroundings during that window—though I didn't go anywhere near that extreme. After about fifteen days, Prozac became my favorite antidepressant to date, and I still hold a soft spot for it even though its effectiveness has significantly waned (and reading others, it seems many have similar experiences with various antidepressants after prolonged use, though none of us truly know why...). So, in a layman's attempt at speculation, I'm drawing a parallel between psychotropic drugs and psychoactive drugs—not that the scale of drama is comparable:
when someone starts experimenting with heroin, after that first sniff of an almost negligible amount of powder sends them to seventh heaven, later on, once they're properly hooked, just that hit becomes like half a shot of bitters for a gourmet grandson, which he takes just to stave off the bloating after overindulging on beans.

I was on Prozac for just over two months and man, it was way too much...
If I had stayed on it, I would've demolished my house from the roof down to the basement. Maybe I would've gone underground too. The only question is if you could even call it a house anymore.
I was walking along the road at a hundred miles an hour just trying to vent, but even that didn't help.
I felt cold constantly, and my skin was itching so unbearable I wanted to lose my mind.
Total damn hypomania. I'm usually quiet, but I was being way too loud. I was laughing out loud so much that half the theater was staring at me wondering what was wrong.

Some people have committed suicide while on Prozac. And some have killed others.

I was both aggressive and self-destructive; I was mutilating myself, picking at scabs and tearing my skin until it bled... which left craters and scars all over.
Anyway, my psychiatrist switched my meds.

Whew, then I finally got some relief from the Seroquel.
I became normal.
Well, as normal as I can be with my annoying OCD.

And look, we all know that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to meds. Something works for you, something doesn't.

Kenneth Scott41 said:I was actually reading something today about this kid over in the USA who was primarily on Prozac... he ended up killing a girl and then just calmly went to Mass with a smile on his face.
There always seems to be some connection made between Prozac and those manic types committing murders across America... and I guess this isn't even the first time it's happened. But honestly, what I really need is an antidepressant that won't absolutely wreck my libido.😁

There’s something seriously off about Prozac. I swear, I felt the absolute worst side effects imaginable.
If I’d stayed on it, I probably would’ve picked fights with everyone until nobody wanted to be seen with me—hell, I might have even hit someone.
I would’ve snapped at people just because they had a different opinion than mine, or just because they were getting on my nerves for no reason at all that day.
I really think Prozac can turn some people into straight-up savages.

hollowviper40 said:Prozac is the gold standard!👍

In my experience, Effexor is a much harder habit to break... I have no clue why my therapist swapped my Prozac for Effexor instead of just bumping up my dosage on the first one.

As for me, Prozac just didn't work.
I was a total wreck, seriously.
Seroquel is fine. Only thing is it makes me gain weight, but whatever, life goes on.

hollowviper40 said:Look, when I went through a breakup after seven years of living together—I was a total wreck—Rib just laughed right in my face (his head was huge and bright red, mind you) and basically told me:
-"Haven't you heard? You never chase after streetcars or girls!"-
Then he wrote up my medical report, flagging me as suicidal and handing me a referral for a psych ward in Los Angeles. I absolutely loathed him for it—especially for that condescending little "proverb" he used to mock me. I reached out to my family, told them how much of a mess I was, and they actually stepped in to stop me from going on "vacation." My entire world had collapsed back then. In those days, those months, I couldn't even fathom that there would be more time, more space, or anything good left in life—let alone new love. Looking back, it's almost funny, and honestly kind of sweet, how that old man mocked me. Who could have known he was actually 100% right? Haven't you heard? You never chase after streetcars or girls.

Look, the shrink you ran into sounds totally unhinged.🙂
Seems like he was just having a bad day and decided to take it out on you.😛
I can't stand it when people get in my face while they're talking; I'd honestly want to punch them right in the snout on the spot.
Forget about him though, the main thing is that you're doing okay now.

I take Ambien at night, which manages to knock me out, but I end up waking up so many times throughout the night that I feel like a zombie by morning. It feels as though my brain never actually shuts off, even while I'm asleep. This isn't a side effect from any antidepressant—I only take one dose of Alice—rather, it's a symptom of my anxiety disorder.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend an anxiolytic or a sedative that might help extend the effects of my sleeping pill? I did try 5 mg of Norvasc, but honestly, Norvasc doesn't really do much for me anyway, and I didn't notice any improvement in how long the Ambien lasted.

I plan to consult my doctor at my next appointment, of course, but I would truly value hearing about your own personal experiences.

I've been taking 5 mg of Sanval for 8 months now. I sleep through the whole night without any issues.
The only thing is, I'm totally hooked. I really need to switch medications.
Maybe try Xanax?
That puts me to sleep pretty well too.
I don't usually take it, though—only when someone at work gets on my nerves and I just can't settle down. Those damn women. Seriously.

Kenneth Scott41 said:Yeah, I am unhappy. I broke up with my girlfriend, and that’s why I’m on the pills.

How you holding up, Kenneth Scott41?
Look, it’ll be fine, trust me. You just gotta let some time pass after a breakup.
Eventually, you'll realize she wasn't all that anyway and that she definitely wasn't perfect.

I went through the exact same thing when I split with my guy. Remember back in July?
I'm doing okay now. I still think about him every now and then, but I don't want to spend even a single second dwelling on him anymore. And honestly, I can actually make it happen now. No more crying over him.🙂
Plus, looking back, it was probably for the best that he left. He really didn't treat me that great. Why would I even want someone like that?
My friend once told me about my ex: "I hope he stays a jerk for the rest of his life."🙂
Hehe.

The pill itself doesn't make you fat, it just makes you ravenous.
I really need to drop some weight because my knees are absolutely killing me right now.""""
It's the same story with me!!! I used to be 130 lbs, and after four years on this stuff, I've hit 175. Thank god I'm 5'9" so it's spread out a bit better, but still 😁

But man, once I take it, my stomach feels so empty and I get soooooooo hungry that I HAVE TO EAT IMMEDIATELY. LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!!
And every single night, even if I manage to pass out, I'll be dreaming and then wandering to the fridge, carrying a whole tray of sandwiches back to bed.
Then in the morning, I wake up to crumbs everywhere—under my pillow, all over the sheets!!!

Seroquel has been a lifesaver, honestly. It lets me actually function and hold down a job where I have to use my brain and carry a ton of responsibility.

But seriously, nobody in my family believes me when I tell them how hungry it makes me!
They're just like, "Oh, you're just lazy, you eat too much..." blah blah blah.
I'm at the gym three times a week, doing 6.2 miles power walking three times a week, I have Herbalife for breakfast and dinner, and lunch is usually just a salad or some fitness cereal. I'm barely hitting 600 calories a day and I'm still stuck at 175 lbs thanks to my precious Seroquel.

I want to hear from anyone else taking it. I'm on the 300mg XR version.
Is there anyone actually on this stuff who hasn't ballooned up, or who figured out a way to lose weight while taking it?

I'm trying a 500 calorie diet, but whenever that hunger gap hits, I end up grabbing pastries or yogurt or bananas. So my actual intake is probably closer to 800 or 1000.
I did manage to lose 3 lbs, but only after I cut out sweets entirely.
That's basically the key: ditch the sugar.
Honestly, the sweets and snacks are what caused the weight gain in the first place.🙂
I'm about 45 lbs overweight.
If I had just eaten normally, maybe I would've only gained a few pounds.

Luckily, I don't eat at night because I take something that knocks me out so hard I just sleep through it.🙂
Not eating at night is huge. If you can't help it, just drink water or grab a banana.

Anthony Lopez8 said:"Is there truly any point in continuing this circular debate when the facts remain so stubbornly unchanged? We have been dissecting these specific pharmacological interactions for hours now, yet we seem to be circling the same drain without ever reaching a substantive conclusion. Does anyone actually believe that adjusting a dosage of Prozac will somehow mitigate the underlying instability we are discussing, or are we simply grasping at straws to feel a sense of control over an inherently volatile situation? It seems to me that the conversation lacks the necessary rigor required to address the complexities of these medications properly."

If you ask me, both of them lead to weight gain. I’ve been sticking to a strict calorie deficit and hitting the gym consistently for quite some time now, yet with Zyprexa, I can't seem to drop a single pound. Is it even possible to lose weight on this stuff? To be honest, I'm not necessarily gaining more weight right now, but I am certain that if I weren't on these pills, my current diet and exercise routine would have me losing weight steadily. It is, quite frankly, incredibly frustrating. 🙂

I was on Zyprexa before and had these constant hunger attacks. I’d get these shakes and nausea, and I just had to eat something right that second.
With Seroquel, it’s a similar story. I don't get the shakes, but I get this massive hole in my stomach, and I feel weak, so when the urge hits, I just eat.
The medication itself doesn't make you fat; it's just that it makes you insanely hungry.
I really need to lose weight because my knees are killing me. They can't handle the extra weight. Plus, I'm just so sluggish. I barely move, which probably adds to the weight gain too. I can't stand up for long walks, let alone do aerobics or hit the gym.

Kenneth Scott41 said:hehehe, well, I guess it isn't the medication making you gain weight, it's the food. It’s probably not the pill's fault if you end up eating more than usual.😁

How do you feel on Zeldox?
I haven't tried it. I can't take AP that raises my mood because I'll go straight into hypomania.
Anyway, Prozac totally wrecked me; I had way too much energy and couldn't even sleep. And Luvox? I couldn't close my eyes all night. I was awake for a week straight feeling like I was constantly drunk.

For the last three days, everyone at home has been pissed off.
I know it's my fault, because living with someone who has mental illness is hard.
Nobody understands me, nobody knows what kind of hell my life is, and that just drives me into a depression.
I went to my room because it was getting unbearable.
Either way, this whole situation where you can't tell who's more high-strung is terrible for my mental health. It frustrated me so much that my OCD got worse, and then my depression followed right after.
Damn, it's a vicious cycle.
It's enough to drive you crazy.
It's never going to be okay, and I don't see an end to this illness.
Sometimes I just fall into this deep pessimism.
Yeah, and my mom and sister tell me I'm fat. Well, screw them.
So what if I am? What's it to them?

How much are you taking daily (talking about Anafranil 25 mg)? I'm on two a day.
Are you dealing with any weight issues from it? I ask because I've been on it forever and I can't gain even half a pound; if anything, I've actually lost weight. Are you taking anything else alongside the Anafranil, like Xanax?

I was doing 2,2,2 of the Anafranil every day, but man, it’s getting expensive, so I begged my doctor to drop me down to 1,1,2. Hopefully, things don't go south.
I'm also on Aurorix 1,0,1 and Seroquel 1/4, !/4, 1.
Anafranil doesn't make you gain weight. Neither does Aurorix, but Seroquel definitely does. That stuff makes me hungry all the time. It's a nightmare; I'm constantly struggling with my weight.
I can't seem to stick to a diet for the life of me.
It sucks.
Why can't they just invent a medicine that doesn't cause weight gain? Though, I gotta say, the Seroquel actually helped a lot.
