And how are you supposed to feel better after this, when they hit you exactly where it hurts most?!

How many times do I have to tell myself: this world isn't built for people like me? But after hearing this... I'm just speechless...

You know what? Your employer doesn't have any right to know your medical history. That's your business, period. You're still perfectly capable of doing your job. It’s just that the second you hand over those damn doctor's notes with the specific medical codes on them, everyone knows exactly what's going on.

Man, I am doing absolutely terrible right now.😲
I’ve gotta go see my doctor to finally get my Seroquel bumped up to the dose I actually need.
Honestly, I thought I was fine on the lower dose, but I was wrong—it's hitting me hard now. My OCD is just completely wrecking me.
And then you add PMS into the mix? It’s a total nightmare. Seriously, someone is going to pay for my mood swings tomorrow.
I'll find a victim eventually. Honestly, you guys should probably stay far away from me while you still can, haha.🙂

Mark Nelson said:Yeah, me too. Honestly, I probably should just get off it. I have a feeling I’d still be feeling totally wired even without the Seroquel. 😁

So, about the Seroquel... does it actually knock you out? Because for me, it’s like I'm sleeping way too much. School just started back up, and the workload is already piling on. Honestly, if I keep sleeping this much, I'm never going to get anything done. 😢

I can't sleep at all because of Seroquel. Guess that's just my side effect. If I actually want to pass out for the night, I have to take Ambien. I've kind of gotten hooked on it.

Mark Nelson said:Questions for anyone on Seroquel;

Did any of you deal with particularly brutal side effects? Like, what actually happened to you?

And for those who managed to get off it—how much of a nightmare was the tapering process? Any lasting fallout I should be worried about?

Honestly, I haven't hit any major issues. Just get these massive sugar cravings, so I’m having a hard time staying thin.
Also, if I try to power up some stairs or go for a quick jog, my legs just lock up with cramps, and sometimes I find myself getting winded way too easily when I'm walking fast.
But hey, the meds definitely keep me level and steady.

restlesstrucker15 said:I have also started on Fevarion. Rejica and I have discussed this medication previously, though it seems relatively uncommon among my peers. To provide some context, I found that Elicea (Lexapro) was losing its efficacy. I transitioned to Effexor for the last three and a half weeks, but the experience was harrowing; I felt a sensation akin to being on ecstasy, and Calixta would leave me feeling completely crashed and lethargic. Now, I have been prescribed Fevarin. It is worth noting that yesterday was only my second time taking a half-dose (50 mg) in the evening. However, I am struggling significantly because that same ecstasy-like sensation returns after ingestion, making it impossible to sleep soundly even with the aid of hypnotics—much like what occurred with the Effexor. While this might simply be a side effect, it feels counterintuitive that I was prescribed Fevarin specifically to avoid such sensations, yet here I am taking it at night only to feel wired and sleep-deprived during the day. I am quite uncertain. Has anyone else experienced this heightened state on Fevarin only to have it subside? I honestly don't have the mental fortitude left to switch ADs again. It seems as though other options, like Zoloft or Prozac, might actually be more stimulating, leaving me wondering what is left to try.

Hmm, I was only on Effexor for a week. I didn't close my eyes once at night. Total insomnia, it was awful.
I took Zoloft for a week and felt absolutely nothing, it was like drinking water.
I was on Prozac for a month. It made me so wired, I was nervous and hypomanic, so they cut me off.

To make you feel better, hitting the right therapy right away is damn near impossible.
I've cycled through almost every antidepressant in the SSRI group.
I've even done small doses of antipsychotics.
Right now I'm on Anafranil, Aurora, and Seroquel. That combo mostly keeps me calm. Seroquel was working pretty well for me, but lately things have taken a bit of a turn for the worse.
I can function at work, but at home, I'm a total wreck.

I was only on Zoloft for about a week and honestly, I felt like a houseplant just sitting there vegetating.
It made me feel so incredibly sick that I ended up quitting it altogether after talking it over with my psychiatrist.

San Val always knocks me out cold. I sleep through the whole night perfectly fine, but I'm starting to think I've become totally dependent on it... I can't even get to sleep without it anymore.

Did you try tapering off using Helex to ease into that adjustment phase?

I called my doctor today and told her straight up that I’m feeling, uhm, a little bit unhinged from this Prozac. Her response? She basically told me to just stick with it for a while longer and use Helex to take the edge off, claiming everything is fine as long as I don't slip into mania (mania?!😲 Seriously, she even mentioned that.)
I feel like my senses are dialed up way too high—especially my hearing. I’ve always been sensitive to noise, but now it feels absolutely overwhelming.😢 )

Ugh, tell me about it. The noise was driving me insane too. Honestly, I just wanted to grab someone and punch them.
I was taking Xanax, three 0.25mg doses. For the first two nights, I didn't sleep at all because I was just so wired and jittery.
I stayed on it for about a month and a half. At first, I felt great—super upbeat and happy—until it started hitting me harder and I drifted into hypomania.
My doctor eventually pulled me off it, saying it was basically erasing my personality.
Well, she didn't exactly pull me off right then, since I showed up to my follow-up and started laughing hysterically for absolutely no reason.

Andrew Doyle said:I am not dissolving it! I just place it on my tongue and swallow immediately, but that split second while it’s sitting there is more than enough time for me to taste that absolutely revolting aftertaste that lingers on my tongue long after I've swallowed.

This is how I feel: 🙂
It hits my head so hard that I don't even feel like myself; it’s like being drugged. I’m constantly tapping my feet, drumming my fingers, or just fidgeting with anything within reach—I'm incredibly hyperactive (which is exactly how Zoloft made me feel when I first started it). It eventually gets to the point where I have to take Helex just so I don't feel like I'm going to jump out of my own skin. The restlessness it creates is just horrific.

And what bothers me most is how I interact with people; I just don't feel "right." Look, I don't usually lose my temper easily, but right now my tolerance threshold has been slashed through the floor.😢 I find myself defending my opinions as if they were matters of life and death, even when it's just some completely trivial, insignificant nonsense.🤷

(At this rate, I should probably put this energy to good use and head down to Times Square to go demand some justice.)😁

I went through the exact same thing. I was literally just like that.

Andrew Doyle said:Is it just me, or is the taste of Prozac absolutely revolting when it starts dissolving in your mouth? It feels like it just melts away the second it touches your tongue, and honestly, it’s disgusting.

So, how are you actually feeling on the Prozac? For me, being on it made me want to absolutely wreck myself. I’d get so anxious and full of guilt that I'd end up picking at my skin constantly... just tearing at my face and back until I had literal craters left behind. My skin was raw and bleeding everywhere.

I don't get why you're even trying to dissolve Prozac in your mouth? Is that even an orally disintegrating tablet designed for that?[/QUOTE]

Timothy Wood38, what kind of meds are you even on right now?

Timothy Wood38 said:Well, if you ask me, Zyprexa was actually one of my favorites because it acted as an anti-anxiety and antidepressant all in one, which nothing else seemed to do. Now that my treatment plan is actually working, I don't need the Zyprexa anymore. It’s true it makes you gain weight—I put on a few pounds myself while I was on it—but it wasn't a huge deal since I watched what I ate. If you don't mind me asking, what mood stabilizers are you on?

I'm on Prozac and Anafranil for my mood. And Sanval to sleep.
The thing is, I've been taking it for two months now and I can't even fall asleep without a Sanval anymore. I'm hooked. But what am I supposed to do if I can't get any rest?
I figure it's better to just take the Sanval and actually get some shut-eye than to toss and turn all night long and try to show up to work totally exhausted.
All told, I'm popping about 10 pills a day.
It's a lot, sure, but hey, it works.
I've pretty much cycled through almost every SSRI out there.
And a few antipsychotics too, which actually act like antidepressants when you're on low doses.

Timothy Wood38 said:Hey everyone... finally feeling like myself again. It’s been a long two years of navigating the psychiatric system, but I think—and I really mean this—that we've finally hit on the right therapeutic balance. Thank God, I managed to get off the Zyprexa. Now, my daily regimen looks like this: 60 mg of Paxil, 60 mg of Prozac, then 2x200 mg of Sulpiride, plus 20 mg of Norvasc and 1 mg of Xanax about an hour before bed, and just before sleep, 20 mg of Ambien. Yeah, yeah, I know... it sounds like quite the cocktail. A lot of pills, I realize. But for the first time in forever, I actually feel great. I truly hope you all are doing well too. :-)

Glad you're feeling better and managed to ditch the Zyprexa.
I was on Zyprexa a few different times back in the day, and honestly, it didn't do much for me besides making me gain 45 pounds, which was a total nightmare to lose later.
And man, when I was on Prozac, I was acting like a total maniac—just like Bertha. I felt wired, hyperactive, hypomanic, just super jittery... I used to walk so fast down the street I felt like I was sprinting.🙂I went from zero to sixty in ten seconds flat, not even mentioning those random bursts of loud, uncontrollable laughing fits.😂I was a completely different person, just a total freaking weirdo.
🙂
Anyway, I finally found the right combo after eight long years of trial and error with different prescriptions.
I'm on Seroquel for my OCD and two other mood stabilizers. Now I actually feel normal, without those crazy hypomanic episodes shooting out of nowhere.
Plus, living with OCD is way more manageable now.
Real paranoia or just being paranoid? in Psychology ·
Matthew Jones16 said:I suppose I don't really have much of a need for such a vast circle of best friends.

Honestly, just talking about what you're going through is huge progress. At least you're self-aware enough to realize there's an issue here.
Now you just gotta convince yourself that all this paranoia—this feeling that everyone is out to get you—might just be your own head playing tricks on you. Maybe it isn't even real.
Look, I know how hard that is. I really do. I get it.

Just tell yourself straight up that these thoughts aren't reality, and remember that's exactly why you're taking your meds to stay level.
Are the meds actually helping you feel any better?

Just live your life and do what you think is right. Stop listening to everyone else; they're just driving you crazy.

Finally got my period today. Yessssssss!!! It was a little late, but hey, it finally showed up.
I seriously hate it when my meds mess with my cycle.
I just demolished some chocolate, ice cream, and cookies. Feeling much better now.
Yeah, yeah, I know—total sugar overload, but I needed it.
If I don't pig out on sweets like this when my period hits, I start feeling like absolute garbage and get the shakes.

I’ve been on Seroquel since June. I had two regular cycles, but then this third month just... nothing. Not pregnant, though.
The side effects list on the medication guide doesn't even mention missing a period. It's weird.
I'm also still taking Prozac and Anafranil.
I have a feeling it's the Seroquel, but honestly, I can't just quit it. It's actually kept me somewhat balanced, which is all I can say for it.🤷

Nicole Barrett76 said:Have you considered increasing your fiber intake? One "side effect" of taking more fiber is that you have to drink more water, which helps the body more effectively flush out impurities through the colon. Perhaps you might also want to consider taking silymarin—not from Pfizer, but from Natrol—to help protect your liver. Antipsychotics can be quite taxing on the liver. However, the best course of action would be to consult your psychiatrist regarding the latter.

Thanks for the tip. I'm already taking Pepto-Bismol every single day and drinking tons of water, but my digestion is still a total disaster. I'm lucky if I can actually go once every three days.
I tried making those flaxseed and date bites from CVS once. It wasn't terrible, but man, they're calorie bombs.

Arthur Vaughn2 said:I’m constantly dealing with food cravings too. So yeah, I should probably brace myself for some weight gain. 😁 I already put on quite a bit while I was on Seroquel, but the main issue was how much it dilated my pupils—it got so bad it actually messed with my vision...

I’m on 125 mg of Seroquel right now, but I’ll probably have to bump up the dose because things have been getting a bit worse lately.
And yeah, I gained 14 pounds from it. I’m on a super strict diet right now and I've only managed to drop 2 pounds in three weeks. My nutritionist is acting all confused about why I'm not losing weight. Well, duh—it's because I'm taking freaking Seroquel. I’m barely eating anything, yet the scale won't budge.
I'm honestly starting to lose it. I'm starving myself and suffering, and still, nothing happens. It sucks!!!!!!

Angela Morgan4 said:I used to take one tablet every evening. For the first two weeks, I dealt with terrible insomnia and nausea, but eventually, the medication started to kick in. Once those side effects subsided, I increased my dosage to one and a half tablets and felt fine again, but now I am struggling once more—mentally speaking.🙄

I only stayed on Prozac for about a week. Honestly, I felt drunk the entire time and my stomach was doing flips, so they pulled me off it. Now I'm on Seroquel instead.
On top of all that, the insomnia was just killing me. I couldn't even close my eyes for a second all night long.

But hey, we aren't all built the same way, and everyone reacts differently to meds. Maybe it'll work for you.
