Wage garnishments and collections in Law ·
I have a question, and I’m really hoping for a quick and accurate answer here 🤔 (tomorrow is the deadline if we actually decide to pay something)
So, a few days ago, some mail showed up at our house...
It was a notice regarding a collection action from DirecTV....
Basically, this involves a contract we signed way back in 2008. We terminated it on our end—I don't recall exactly when, but it didn't take long...
Since we didn't return the equipment, they are claiming they never actually processed the cancellation in the first place... or so they say.... I honestly have no clue. I don't remember the specifics, and I don't even have the old receipts from when we paid our bills anymore. Now, they are coming after us for some unpaid balances from back in 2010 and 2011... Isn't that past the statute of limitations??? I mean, we are talking about bills from... allegedly... over two and a half years ago...
And their math just doesn't make any sense to me. They attached this user financial statement where they list payments made from April through October of 2008 (they skip almost all of 2009 and most of 2010 entirely), and then suddenly, out of nowhere, they mention December 2010 and January 2011 as unpaid months....
Now they are citing a total debt balance as of October 2012.
But I don't see how a balance from 2012 matters if we ended everything ages ago... why didn't they bother looking for this sooner...... 🙂
Since we don't have the payment stubs, I'm not sure how to prove anything, but it just feels so wrong that someone can just suddenly decide to demand money... like, "Oh, you didn't pay us something three years ago, so here is our account number, now send us the cash..." 🙂 I keep wondering what the catch is with the Consumer Protection Act (if it even applies)... and then there are the extra notary fees to deal with, too... 🙂
WHAT DO I DO NOW.... do we pay up or... 🤷 😕
THANKS in advance to everyone ☕

I’m still having a hard time bringing this up... but does anyone know where I can pick up some invitation envelopes? I’m looking for the best selection out there—ideally somewhere with really good prices...
It would be so cute if I could find some sparkly ones or maybe something in a fun color, if you guys have any leads on where to look or what they cost🙂
lady dee—I actually grabbed that same cardstock from Staples, so we're using the exact same stuff 😉
What kind of envelopes did you end up getting? Just the standard ones, or did you go with something more specialty 😍

Ugh... just imagine this... we’ve been talking forever about how much cheaper the paper is at Amazon, right, just past that flower shop, Claudia... then I show up today... and this lady goes 🙄 "We don't carry that... we've never actually sold that here..."
I was just standing there totally confused 😲 like, seriously?!
Now I honestly don't know what to believe anymore... 😢

gentledriver92 Bradley Wright said:So, back at Amazon... a colleague of mine was picking up some paper there a few months ago—she was paying about $40 per ream for A4—and I honestly have no clue if the prices have shifted since then, I haven't had a chance to go check yet... But get this, over at Allstate, they have paper for $1.15 per sheet, and the lady working there mentioned it’s actually more expensive because it's a heavier, sturdier stock. I didn't even realize there were different thicknesses to worry about! As for that thicker paper at Allstate, I haven't really looked into whether they carry other varieties, but the one she showed me? It felt great immediately—and it isn't nearly as pricey when you consider what everything else is going for lately...

In that case, you’re probably better off grabbing some heavy-duty pouches from Amazon—they carry all different thicknesses, but the main thing is to make sure they aren't too flimsy... you don't want them warping around too much.
Especially after you hit print...😉
I think I’ll head over to Allstate to pick up that card...
That doesn't seem like much to me...$2.25I have to say—I actually really like that price...😍

Bradley Wright Bradley Wright said:I went ahead and paid for the paperwork... $2.50 I ended up going with the first option—it was only $16.50 at Hobby Lobby, whereas the price over at Michaels was way higher... $13 Same thing...

😲😲😲
I honestly can't believe there's such a massive gap... I mean, I seriously doubt there's any actual difference in the paperwork itself—it just makes me wonder... 🙄

I really love that invitation you sent... it’s actually quite nice! 👍
Mine will be pretty similar—I'm thinking my satin ribbon should run from edge to edge... 🙂 )
And that card you’ve got there—it really is quite nice...😍
I think I'm going to grab one for myself... 😛
As for that stack of paperwork—I have to say, looking at yours, it seems like you’re doing everything exactly right...
Especially if you did all the printing and cutting yourself... honestly, it turned out so beautiful...
Do you happen to know how many grams that coffee was—and honestly, where did you pick it up? I'm trying to track down the exact same batch...

Thanks, Bradley Wright... we'll touch base later about those bottles 😉

As for the paper... could you let me know the price for cardstock at Allstate? (That 70x100 size you mentioned—that’s the dimensions, right?)
I saw gentledriver92 mention she bought some for $2.00, and since it's about the size of six A4 sheets—I'm assuming that's what we're looking at?! I'm also wondering if there's much variety, or just one or two types... Regarding the price, what you found at the hobby shop seems fair to me... but since gentledriver92 says Amazon (right behind that flower shop, Claudia) is the cheapest, I'm really curious how much it would cost there😉
I noticed they don't have many good shears either... maybe just three or four colors...🙄
I was actually thinking about grabbing that mesh too—just like you did—but I'm not quite sure how it all looks once everything is assembled... (it feels like our invitations might end up looking pretty similar 😍 )

I’m looking to pick up about 80 of them
how many bottles would you actually have left over...?!

Also, one more thing...
if anyone could point me in the right direction for where to buy invitation paper...
where can I find the best deals🙂
I need some heavy cardstock (around 100lb), vellum, and some sisal—though I have no clue where to find that besides a hobby shop in Chicago (does anyone know any other spots?!)
I think I read somewhere that Staples or maybe Michael's might be good options...
so if anyone knows any other places or where it's most affordable, please let me know...🙂

Bradley Wright said:I was actually thinking about sticking to our names too, and I’ve already got a shockingly cool hat ready to go,
but since the whole theme is silver and blue, I really don't want to clash by adding some wild, multicolored
designs. My thought was to pick two or three simple patterns to wrap around all the bottles.
What do you think? I'm looking at painting 200 bottles here, and if they end up being too rainbow-heavy,
I’m worried the whole thing might end up looking like a total circus

To keep things from looking way too busy, you could just write everything in silver ink and then maybe draw two little hearts in blue next to the names..
that could actually look really cute...😉
Personally, I'd prefer if all the bottles looked uniform... basically, pick one design and mass-produce them like a factory line 😁
that's exactly how I'm going to do it—everything will be identical...😍
By the way, did you already get those bottles (the ones from Sprite, right?) if so, where on earth did you find them...
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Thanks, Betty Foster8, for the suggestion and the advice... I’ll definitely have to keep that in mind if I can't track down any Coca-Cola—which I actually prefer since they're smaller and just look cuter

And Bradley Wright—I was thinking about decorating them with glass paint, you know, using those outliner pens...
I haven't decided on the exact design yet, but probably nothing too crazy... just our names and the date...
If I go overboard with the drawing, I feel like it's just unnecessary—I'd end up wasting way more paint, and it might look too cluttered (I mean, it's fine if it's just a picture, but once you add names and dates on top of that... then it's just a little tooooo much, in my opinion) plus, I'm personally not much of an artist myself😂
What about you though?! What were you thinking...?
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
We stopped by the busiest, most popular coffee shop in town... so... I'm honestly pretty worried... we're going to check with a few other places too, but I have my doubts—if the folks at this one are telling the truth 😕
I really hope I can find them, otherwise all my little plans for decorating those bottles will just go down the drain 😢😢😢

Honestly, you just really brightened my mood and gave me the boost I needed right now... thank you so much... 😍

rowdypanther16 said:I was wondering if anyone might know where I can pick up some cork stoppers for those Orange bottles around Columbus? Thanks in advance! 🙂

Actually, I'm even more curious about where to find those Orange bottles themselves...
We even asked at a local coffee shop, but they told us they barely sell them—they don't even think we'll manage to scrape together 20 by September, and I need closer to 70. I'm not entirely sure yet...
If anyone knows anything... please let me know 🙂

And one more thing... maybe even more important....
I wanted to ask, do you all actually have written contracts for everything you've booked?....
With us, it seems like everywhere we go, we reach an agreement and pay the deposit...
but we never get any actual paperwork or a contract...🤷
It’s always just a verbal deal—price, deposit, date... and then "trust"... but no contract.
For example, we paid a deposit for flowers—no contract.
Paid for the cake... still nothing...
So I'm wondering how you guys are handling this... do you have a signed contract for everything you've reserved? And if you don't—do you ever think about what happens if...😲
I'm starting to feel a bit of panic setting in—I just hope people won't screw us over... I really don't want the worst to happen... oh my goodness...😲

rapidfox42 said:You honestly can't miss it—once you start walking through those halls, you'll see shops dedicated entirely to wedding decor everywhere. There are several of them.

And hey, latest update: they have a 20-pack for just $2.50, which is $3.25!

Wait, so you can get a pack of 20 bows? Or 🤷
And if you have any more info—either from you or from Bradley Wright—let me know... I think she was over by the corridor area too...
What else is actually worth buying there for wedding guests? Something decent...
Balloons per unit—what’s the price
Bows per unit—price please
Ribbons
Small floral accents
Candles
And maybe napkins—do they even carry those?!
Table runners, you know, the kind for couples...

Can you shoot me a DM? We really need to get this reserved soon—we haven't even decided where we're looking yet...☕

My wedding is in September... and it looks like smoking won't be allowed on-site... (at least that's what the venue owners told us)
My fiancé and I don't smoke, but I’d still love for it to be an option just for my guests... I really wouldn't want half the party stuck outside the whole time😢

Hey everyone... does anyone have some good recommendations for cakes and pastries? I'm looking for something special for a wedding party—where's the best place to order around the Midwest? Maybe somewhere near Chicago, Indianapolis, or St. Louis... 🙂
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
mmm, that sounds amazing—we’ll all be getting ready together and counting down the days...
only 7 months left 😍
the way you described it is just so sweet... definitely go for it, I think it'll turn out great... 😉
now I'm actually thinking about grabbing those cork ones too—they seem even better than the standard stoppers 👍
I just wonder, what are you planning to seal them with? (sorry, I feel like I'm always asking questions!) 🤣
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Why only nine bottles... You’re definitely going to have a massive crowd coming through...
How many people are we talking about here?! If you don't mind me asking—I mean, how many tables will there be?
My thought process was just one small bottle of bourbon, one wormwood liqueur, and one Jägermeister per table... so, three bottles per table total...
And which city is the wedding in? Is it somewhere in the suburbs or... wait, you and I actually have the exact same date!😍
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
😍 Oh man, this is such great news... thanks, rapidfox42
I was honestly sitting here wondering just how much I'd need to get everything ready...
But now? I can finally breathe easy....☕
My plan was to set up a little production line for my homemade bourbon, bitters, and spiced liqueurs...
So I’m looking at needing roughly 80 bottles or so🤷

The only thing is, I have no clue how I'll seal them all up... where can I actually find those corks, caps, or toppers around here?

Bradley Wright said:I’m going to make those little orange soda bottles with the tiny party hats too, but I’m actually planning to hand-draw the details on every single one!

So, what kind of pens are you planning to use for this... I was actually thinking about doing something similar with those glass outliners—you know, the ones that give it that raised texture? I kept thinking about just writing on them by hand, but then I realized I just can't get the colors right without the proper tools...
I don't know, maybe it's just me—but that seems pretty pricey for such a tiny little tube... like, $25? That feels a bit steep...$9.00Honestly, I have this feeling that one single tube isn't going to last more than just a few bottles... 🙄
Are you thinking about trying out a different medium for your drawing—maybe something else entirely? And I was also wondering... do you have any idea how much time you think that might take you?🤷
So, where on earth are you going to find a hat like that... I haven't seen anything like it anywhere! It’s actually such a cool look...😍

Does anyone happen to have the website link for Palm Florist over in Indianapolis?
I know they have their own site out there somewhere—I just can't seem to find the right one!
I've been scouring Google for ages, but nothing is popping up for me...
If anyone knows where it is, I would be so incredibly grateful... feel free to just shoot me a DM😉
