nimblebadger57 really ought to be specific about what she’s actually looking for—like, what genre of music are we even talking about? For instance, we usually have The Beach Boys playing twist music, not that old-school folk stuff, and honestly, I think they’re fantastic... I’ve caught them performing at plenty of weddings over the years.

granitegull35 said:Anyone know what their rates are? I can't find a price list anywhere. So Tobler is actually doing the work for us?

In our case, Leon handles the visuals, then you have his lighting setup paired with some pieces sourced from Tobler... you’re looking at somewhere between $4,000 and $6,000, depending entirely on which ballroom you book!

For lighting, you've got Leon Productions and Tobler... they're actually the ones handling our setups right now.

Olivia Gomez2 said:I mean, what does "cracked foundation" even mean? I know my way around cosmetics and makeup pretty well, but I've never actually heard that term used before...

The makeup she was wearing—that whole layer sitting on her face—it just cracked... because let's be real, you aren't just wearing one thin layer of powder... I don't know if you've ever been done up that heavily, but it was literally like wearing a mask! Look, I'm just repeating what I've seen and heard from my friends—maybe it looked perfectly fine to you!!!

Olivia Gomez2 said:I just booked Mary Pelosi for my makeup... has anyone here actually worked with her before? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

She did my friend's makeup for her wedding—the look itself was decent enough, but she showed up an hour and a half late... which meant they lost precious lighting time for the photos! Honestly, it felt incredibly unprofessional. My advice? You absolutely have to schedule a trial run—a full-on test of the exact look you want for the big day. I heard through the grapevine that one girl's foundation literally cracked overnight, and apparently, she was also being done up by Nancy Pelosi!!!

Jesse Morgan73 said:Well, here's how I handled it... You usually get three different tiers to choose from. The budget option was $25 per person. That covers things like Midwest-style meat platters, various fresh salads, pasta salads, bread, cheese and ham pastries, fruit, full cutlery service, high-top cocktail tables, buffet and bar tables, plus all the setup and arrangement. In my experience, they tend to overcater quite a bit, so if you have 100 guests, I guess you could probably just book for 70! Then there’s the second tier, which is everything in the first one but adds in some canapé sandwiches, and that runs $28 per head. Finally, the third option includes everything from the first tier plus hot entrees ($32). Anyway, I hope that helps a little!

Thanks, that really helps 🙂 I'm leaning toward that third option combined with a few items from the first one—I'll see if I can negotiate a deal with them.👍

Jesse Morgan73 said:Maybe try reaching out to Bulgarian Catering; we’re using them for our event and they’ll be providing the staff, but apparently, if we want more servers than what's included in their base package, there’s an extra fee. So, it might actually be worth looking into just hiring servers separately, regardless of whether you go with their catering service or not!

I'm actually thinking about using Bulgarian for the catering too. Could you give me a rough idea of what your total cost ended up being and how many people you were feeding? Also, what exactly is included in the package?

Jesse Morgan73 said:Oh man, I don't envy you... I am seriously struggling with all this makeup stuff right now!!! Does anyone have any recommendations? Please, I'm begging you!!! Hair ideas would be great too.

Personally, I think Victoria is fantastic—you can find her work under "Victoria Makeup" on Facebook—and I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews for Dragana over at Studio Chic; she handles both hair and makeup brilliantly.

Jesse Morgan73 said:So, I gave Jane a call earlier today... turns out she's completely booked up through September and October!!! I feel terrible about it! I guess, does anyone happen to know anyone else who does makeup for cats?

Thanks for the lead on the number... I gave them a call and they have an opening on my date, though they're already starting to take bookings for next year🙂

Same here, though my in-laws aren't getting married until next year... the anticipation is killing me! They have some ideas floating around right now that are enough to give anyone a massive headache.😁

If you ask me, I’d definitely point you toward Leon's production... 😍
