Welcome to the group, Tyler Campbell59 😁 At this stage, your priority should be nailing down a rough guest count, locking in a venue, and securing your photographer and DJ—once those pillars are set, you can actually breathe. If you get the big stuff out of the way now, you won't have to deal with the mountain of smaller details until about six months before the wedding starts piling up on you.
Anthony Hall83 said:I have to say, I am just as disappointed with the expo as everyone else—I honestly expected so much more from the whole experience! We were really hoping to scout out a photographer while walking the aisles, but looking at the lineup they had there, not a single one caught my eye... nothing even remotely interesting. What do you all think—will it be too late if we wait until January to start our search? Our wedding isn't until September, so I'm wondering if we still have plenty of runway left...
Well, I’d say you definitely still have time... though it really comes down to exactly what style you're hunting for and what kind of budget you're trying to stick to.
For those asking about the rates at Studio Chic Makeup runs about $150—though if you want lashes included, you’re looking at $220 As for hair styling, I honestly couldn't tell you an exact figure... it all depends on length and how complicated the style is being requested 😁
Anthony Hall83 said:I’ve still got about ten months left until the wedding, but I honestly want to start scouting options right now—mostly because my usual hairstylist is... well, let's just say she isn't exactly the expert when it comes to formal updos. As for the makeup, I tried going to a professional beauty salon once, but after I got home and took everything off, I realized I could probably just do a much better job of doing it myself 🤣
They have a presence on Facebook if you want to check them out; both the hair and the makeup work are top-tier. Personally, I already booked Elena for my makeup a while back, so it would be awkward to cancel on her now... but if I hadn't already committed, I probably would have booked both services from Dragana.
Anthony Hall83 said:Hey everyone, does anyone here actually have first-hand experience with studying at Chick-fil-A in Indianapolis?
Well, I've already booked them for my wedding party—though I haven't made it to my trial run yet. That’s scheduled for sometime in May, so I'll give you the lowdown once I do... when are you planning to go?

You should check out the wedding planning section on The Knot—they have these comprehensive planners you can just download. It’s honestly a lifesaver if you need to get organized... personally, I've found them incredibly useful so far. 🙂
We’re looking at the exact same timeline 🙂—I’ve already put my deposit down on mine 🙂 I have everything set up in the hall, but I’ll be starting on the rehearsals pretty soon... I'm planning to handle the whole thing myself 🙂
Has anyone actually been inside this new banquet hall in Memphis—specifically the Crystal? I have a wedding party hosting there next year, and I’m trying to get the lay of the land regarding their catering, service standards, and general vibe. I want to be fully prepared so I can call them out on any slip-ups immediately if things aren't up to par.🙂
Robin Chase7 said:Just wanted to drop a little heads-up here because I'm feeling kind of bummed about it—Victoria from Victoria Make Up didn't even bother to call or show up on the wedding day, so I just wanted to let you guys know so you don't get caught off guard by any last-minute surprises.
Honestly, I’m hearing this same story from so many different women lately... and if that's the case, what does that actually say about her service??
granitegull35 said:Oh, awesome!!! Does anyone know any other makeup artists besides Victoria and Ana? Is there some Helen out there? Honestly, I need to have everyone on standby—from the bridesmaids down to the makeup artist!😠
Hey Helen—just wanted to let you know that I’ve already booked her. If you happen to need her number, just shoot me a private message and I'll send it over. 🙂
Don't just go out wearing parsley—they absolutely trashed my jacket and my dad's old coat!!! I know that much, but as for which one actually works, I haven't a clue. 🤷
granitegull35 said:I’ll stick to their pastries, but my aunt actually makes cakes for that guy and they’re amazing (at least the ones I've had)! Won't be getting cakes from them though, since I get a sweet discount at my aunt's place!😉
I’m currently being served their cakes at the office, so I’ve been wondering about the actual quality—I’m planning to give them a proper test run soon, along with my mom, just to see if we should consider switching vendors entirely. My main priority is that they aren't loaded with margarine; I want something that actually tastes good, even if the aesthetic is just "fine" rather than spectacular. By the way, does Ujna do any catering work? I still haven't decided who is going to handle the wedding cake!
granitegull35 said:Ugh, don't even tell me that!!😲 Are you sure we're talking about the same group? There are actually two different bands called 100%!!!! They have the exact same name!!!🤷
Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue—I'm just repeating what my folks told me. It’s entirely possible the hall isn't properly acoustically treated, or perhaps they simply didn't nail the tuning during setup. I'm convinced there's a fix for this sort of thing, but you really ought to sit down and hash it out with them directly.
nimblebadger57 said:We've heard so much about how incredible they are, so I'm really hoping we get to catch them live this weekend... Unfortunately, they aren't playing at OBP anymore because they're booked up for weddings everywhere.😢
I noticed you were looking into booking a full band—mine just played a wedding recently, and honestly? They weren't great. The music was way too loud, to the point where you could barely even hear the vocals over the instruments!
