cosmicbadger30 said:Hey everyone. I’m just looking for a quick bit of info here because, honestly, I really don't have the energy to dig through every single page on this forum 🙂 Unspecified, I was wondering if anyone has actually ordered cookies or cakes from Lucian’s bakery over in Newark? I’ve heard they’re pretty solid, but I’d much rather get some firsthand feedback before I commit. Thanks 😉
You don't need to read every page on this forum. Just use
google to do the work for you. 👍
Scroll down a bit and you'll find the direct link to the page on this forum 👍
Angela Smith2 said:I have a question about something. What’s actually considered the standard amount of food per person at a banquet table? I was chatting with the owner of Kašnar's pastry shop—they partner with my venue—at a wedding expo held near the Gateway Arch, and she mentioned they usually budget for about 10 ounces per person. Isn't that a bit low?
It isn't. That’s a standard amount for dessert per guest. Someone always eats more, but then there are people who won't touch a single bite. Try buying half a pound of cookies and putting them in front of you. You'll see how small that pile actually looks. It's not as little as you think.🙂
If you're still worried about having enough, just go with 15 ounces to be safe.👍
I was told you can't pair ice wind flavors or softer cakes with a cake decorated using that specific frosting—I can't be bothered to Google it right now, but I think it's called ganache. If we want ice wind, it really needs to be topped with whipped cream. She suggested we just make two cakes instead: one beautiful one for the photos, and then a separate one made with whipped cream on the side.
We finally started our dessert hunt, so here are my first impressions:
We hit up M&M's in Washington, D.C. today. The treats are $40 pounds and mostly good (some aren't really my thing, but taste is subjective). We skipped the cakes since I've had them before and know they're solid. He mentioned the cake is $4.75 per slice if you stick to simple whipped cream and maybe some flowers, but for more complex decorations, the price could go up by $1.25 per slice. I assume this $4.75 is just a basic parfait cake, and it might cost a few dollars more for fancier versions. The guy there said 100g per person is plenty.
Overall, it seems okay. But we're heading to Zemljič bakery in Bregana this weekend because they make incredible cakes 🙂 I just have no idea how they actually taste.

I agree 😁 Plus, if I showed up to work on Monday with a mountain of cookies, my coworkers would absolutely kill me 😁
Hey, does anyone have any recent info on the bakery in Forest Hills? My aunt mentioned their pastries are amazing. I saw a post here saying back in 2010 the price was $22 per pound 😁. I’m assuming prices have gone up since then, so if anyone has stopped by lately, do you know what they're charging now?
