To kill or not to kill? in Philosophy ·
Anonymous said:There’s no such thing as a killer who acts without cause; there is always a motive and an explanation!

edit: Just as an example, a soldier kills because they were ordered to by the government, whereas someone else might kill because they're mentally ill and an internal voice is "ordering" them to do it. In that case, maybe the second person actually has a much stronger "reason" to kill...

Of course, everything you do is done for a reason and can be explained through your actions.

The question itself is twisted and frankly makes no sense to answer. Especially when you have strictly dictated that we respond with either a yes or a no.
When I'm sitting on the bus... in Psychology & Therapy ·
I honestly have no idea what is wrong with people and their obsession with the news, or whatever those papers are. The other day, I was reading the paper on the subway when some woman behind me starts leaning her head right over my shoulder into my business, so I just snapped the paper shut on her. A little later, as I was getting off, I left the paper on the seat and some old man snatched it up at lightning speed, probably because he saw the lady eyeing it too.

What I am trying to say is: read the newspaper. Or, if you want to use my brilliant little trick: every time you hop on the subway, carry a couple of those free local tabloids under your arm, and once you're settled, just leave them on the empty seats next to you ☕

Well, what exactly is the implication of that?...
The "no bra" phenomenon in Psychology ·
Since the dawn of humanity, even back when we lived in small, primitive tribes, there was always a clear distinction between women with striking, well-developed figures and those who were considered less physically endowed or attractive. It was widely believed that the most beautiful women were reserved exclusively for the wealthiest, strongest, and most influential men in the group. These high-status individuals often kept such women hidden away, viewing everyone else as unworthy of their attention.

This historical dynamic is precisely where the tendency to conceal female attributes originates. In more undeveloped regions of the world, such as parts of sub-Saharan Africa, there is no sense of shame regarding the body because social structures are much flatter; people live more equitably, and no single individual is viewed as superior or more beautiful than another. In those societies, true equality prevails.

You watch it happen and you can't believe there's nobody—literally nobody—who would stand up for him or call out the bullies😕
Just grow up, man. It should be easy.
You say if you defended him, they'd just flip on you and insult you too.
And I'm guessing you aren't really doing anything about it, at least not actively.
And then you act surprised by the kind of people out there.
Right now, in your class (in this world), there are probably at least 5 or 6 other people feeling exactly like you do, but they aren't doing a damn thing either.
Because by being passive (just like everyone else around you), you're basically telling them you're "one of them"—part of a society where this stuff is just "fine."
And now you're shocked.
If you've got the guts, do something. You'll probably see that almost nobody will back you up (like, 99.9% of people won't), but at least you'll know you're above them.
Even if you end up looking like a total loser...☕
Yeah, you'll look like some jerk defending a nobody, but at least when life gets heavy later on and you're raising your own kid, you'll remember you acted like a decent human being.
That matters way more than your "street cred" in whatever sick school you're stuck in right now.

I've already tried twice, but things went exactly how you predicted. Me—the idiot.
The others—everything stayed the same. I used to think just like you; they don't want to take the first step, so I thought I would. Maybe they think it’s wrong, just like I do, but no—they just mocked me.
But I've become immune to their behavior, which was, to put it mildly, cruel.
Jerry Morales4 said:The kid needs to learn how to defend himself. If one of them just landed a solid punch right to the face, they probably wouldn't dare push him around again, even if he took a beating in the process.

That’s true, but it’s honestly depressing that things have to be handled with fists. In 95% of cases, if you go around pummeling someone, you just end up attracting more trouble for yourself—you'll be stuck in meetings with the principal or the school counselor, and all that stuff just makes life even more miserable. Still, it feels much easier when I know that things might actually improve slightly after this happens...
I honestly feel like people in this world carry far too much influence over one another, especially since they seem to have no concept of the weight of their actions or the damage they can inflict. Take a former classmate of mine, for example. pick on him relentlessly, yet if I were to step in and defend him, I’d likely end up being targeted and insulted right along with him. I find myself searching for just one decent person—someone who actually understands the gravity of what they're doing—but there's nobody to be found... I look around and I simply can't believe it. It's baffling how people can be so incredibly thoughtless, failing to use even a shred of logic or consider how their behavior affects someone else. Out of a hundred people, I can't find a single soul with any empathy. Then I come home, replay the whole scene in my head, and wonder again. It makes me genuinely worried about where this country is headed.
Of course, I’ve been guilty of hurting someone before, but never for sport; it was driven by pure malice. Honestly, seeing someone suffer like that fills me with such intense regret that it feels as though the pain is happening to me personally.
Where are these people supposed to turn for help? To a psychiatrist who witnesses these exact scenarios every single day, amidst the tragic reality of the suicide rates we see, or should they just be left to rot? Try stepping into their shoes for a moment; imagine being mocked by everyone around you multiple times a day, and then have some stranger act like they just landed from outer space, acting shocked that people resort to suicide. I truly hope there are still enough good people left in America who actually think about the consequences of their actions.
