JP Morgan Chase in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Adam Sanders4 said:I recently decided to deposit a significant sum of money into a one-year certificate of deposit at JP Morgan Chase. It is my sincere hope that the returns will ultimately justify the trust I have placed in their institution.🙂

Oh, they totally will! I’ve been super happy with them... at least when it comes to my savings... as for anything else, who knows...
but for saving money? They're top-tier—honestly have some of the best rates out there right now. Currently, the only one even sniffing around them is Bank of America with a 5% rate, but that feels like a limited-time promo or something...

boldmarlin30 said:Actually, Wells Fargo is looking more attractive right now—they're offering a fixed 5% for a one-year term if you lock it in by April 30th.

Yeah, except there isn't a Wells Fargo in my neck of the woods... so I guess I'll just wait until I'm passing through a bigger city, drop off some small change, and park it with them for a year...
It feels stupid having it just sitting in my account at home when I'm barely spending a dime on anything besides groceries and basic essentials... I'm trying to stack some cash for the summer (man, my impulses always cost me), so I really need to tighten the belt for a bit...🙂

Sam Wright21 said:Well, I really appreciate the insight! Personally, I’m sitting on a somewhat larger sum, but my plan would be to split it between two different people. That way, we ensure every single deposit stays within the limits of the FDIC insurance, so there isn't any unnecessary risk involved.

Even better if you’ve actually got some real money to move... you'll pull in way more interest. Right now, JP Morgan Chase is offering the best rates out there—unless some other bank decides to run a flash promo on savings, but those things never last long anyway...

The absolute peak of my saving game was back when I locked some cash away in a high-yield account at Chase and snagged a 7% rate. Let me tell you, the interest alone was massive... it practically paid for an entire vacation I took...🙂 😍

Sam Wright21 said:I’ve raised this question regarding fixed-term savings elsewhere, but I see the same concerns popping up here—just how reliable is this bank, really? They’re offering the highest interest rates on CDs right now, which feels almost too good to be true.

Does the federal government actually guarantee deposits up to $133 (if my memory serves me correctly) across all banking institutions in the US?

My term at Goldman Sachs is set to expire in less than a month; I was pulling 5% there, and frankly, I haven't seen anything close to that rate anywhere else. Bill came the closest, and I haven't heard any whispers of scandal surrounding them lately.

So, does anyone have a perspective on this?

I do! I've actually been keeping my cash over at Bill for three years now and I couldn't be happier! 🙂 I keep my money in USD, and since I have some small amounts tucked away in CDs, it really adds up because those interest rates are solid... it just grows on its own once the interest hits... anyway—highly recommend.

As for Euros, they're sitting in Chase🙂
Yoga Meditation in Spirituality ·
Yesterday I caught that episode on PBS - NOVA about
Vedic Yoga
. For my taste, that professor of Indian studies went a little overboard with the heavy theorizing, but all in all, it was alright...
P.S. Benjamin Taylor6, you’re totally spot on 🙂
. So many people have suchooooo wrong ideas about India... I don't know, I've never actually been there (though I want to go so bad!), but I feel like everything people think they know about India is just a bunch of massive prejudices. Totally misguided...

If any of you guys are on Facebook, do me a solid and go hunt down the page with the exact same name as this thread, MEDITACIJA-YOGA. They’ve got some seriously chill articles, great meditative tracks, and all that good stuff... 🙂

Harold Rivera47 said:Even if we totally ignore the spiritual side of things, it’s pretty obvious that Yoga is at the very least a huge waste of time and actually pretty harmful. Just look at what Yoga did to India and the kind of civilization that "brilliant" Hindu spirituality churned out. You’ve got people sitting around in dirt and filth, starving themselves, living in absolute poverty... basically just wasting their lives away. It’s because their whole philosophy teaches them that working hard or actually achieving anything in life doesn't really matter. No, you know? They think Nirvana is everything—you know, Yoga, oneness, all that stuff. Half those yogis couldn't even pick up an axe if they tried, but hey, who cares, right? And even if you don't hit Nirvana in this lifetime, no biggie, you've got reincarnation... another shot at it...

On the flip side, Christianity taught the West that you only get one shot at life, and you need to work your tail off and do good deeds to save your soul. You don't save yourself through some obscure exercises; it's about sacrifice, hard work, and doing right by others. In Christianity, love is shown through actions, not some weird ecstasies. And that mindset built the most incredible civilization the world has ever seen. Obviously, Indians didn't kickstart the Industrial Revolution, since that wouldn't lead to Nirvana, you know? The Industrial Revolution was driven by European Christians because they believed in grinding all day long—because it's good, because God said so, and because laziness is one of the seven deadly sins.

You are absolutely spot on with that second part 🙂 BUT! I have to say, I'm not really feeling what you wrote about India, mostly because I've actually become super into that country lately—their culture and spirituality are so fascinating.... Besides, it's not like all of India is just dirty and chaotic.... what about those places with the massive golden palaces and the Taj Mahal and stuff? 🙂
Reflections on the Bhagavad Gita in Spirituality ·
So, here’s what JAWAHARLAL Nehru (1889–1964), who was basically the first Prime Minister of India, had to say about the Bhagavad-gita:

"The Bhagavad-gita is fundamentally about the spiritual foundations of our existence. It serves as a call to action—to fulfill our worldly obligations and duties without ever losing sight of our spiritual essence or the greater purpose of the universe.

rapidskipper12 said:The interest rate is 3.7% annually, which breaks down to 0.30833% per month. That means on an amount of $3.25, you’re looking at $10 after one month.

And there you have it.
So, if you've got 10 $0.00, here's how you run the math on that interest:
3.7 (annual rate) / 12 (months in a year) = 0.308

0.308 x 10,000 (your deposit) / 100 = $10

Meditation, meditation, meditation... 🙂 😍

Look, diving into some spiritual books is all well and good, but honestly? It’s pretty much a waste of time if you aren't actually sitting down and doing the meditation work to back it up
😁
